Hotel Cristal Design, a Design Boutique Hotel Geneva, Switzerland

"The Cristal Design Hotel offers a quiet location in the heart of Geneva, next to the pedestrianized Mont Blanc street leading to Lake Geneva. Cornavin Train Station is 100 metres away. All modern rooms are non-smoking, with individual air conditioning and soundproofed windows. A range of shops, restaurants and public transport options can be found in the immediate vicinity of Hotel Cristal Design. The property can be reached in a 5-minute walk, if exited the train station from the lower floor." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Google
The room is large, but no view, unless you consider a parking lot as a “view”. Anyway that is expected as it is a stone away from the train station. Plenty of good restaurants and convenient shops near the place. You can easily walk to the lake in 5 mins. Staffs are ok but I find the breakfast lacking. Overall, will not mind booking again.

Stayed for 3 nights. Allowed early check in which was much appreciated. Clean room. Kind ladies cleaned, tidied room and replenished supplies daily. Solo traveller so bathroom/wc glass walls alright but might be an issue if two sharing room. Easy reach of main Geneva train station. Kind reception staff lent me adapter for use during my stay. Tip from fellow reviewer to request hotel to email Geneva transport card very helpful.

Google
What a perfect location in Geneva. 7 min. ride from airport, then a short 2 min. walk to hotel. Many, many restaurants near by. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and spoke english.

The reception staff seems like they hate their customers. The female staff works like she wants to go home and get things done as fast as possible without listening anything to us. The male staff with dark hair is also unwelcoming with desperate face all the time. The location is near the main station but feel unsafe at night. I’ll never chose this hotel again. My big regret!!!

Google
The location is the best there is in Geneva, it is also few mins walk from bus station if you are planning to take the bus to Chamonix . The service is excellent. They give the room to you as long as it's done cleaning and available. We got it as early as 9am. They provide free transport card which is so convenient in going to UN building and everywhere. The hotel is just basic , but everything we need is there. We got 2 rooms , 1 wit triple occupancy for my children. Surrounding the hotel is a lot of good restaurant options too.

Google
SUPER near geneva train station. Their receptionists were amazing and even gave us a map of where we should sightsee. On the rainy day, they even offered us an umbrella!!! I would stay here again if I were to return to geneva!

My strategy is to book a hotel within walking distance of the train station, and Hotel Cristal fits this criterion. PROs: Walking distance to a vibrant shopping streets, e.g., Mont Blanc, Berne, etc., and plenty of eateries. Small cozy hotel room with all the convenience, clean, and topnotch shower! An off-season reasonable price. Excellent breakfast on the 8th Floor with a fantastic view at sunrise! Polite breakfast assistants. Nice lounge area which I never used to relax or do anything. CONs: Room could use a larger TV screen. More central lightings needed even though eco-friendliness is at play here. Hotel still uses traditional room keys with heavy metal keychain - imagine carrying that around town in your backpack! No free local newspapers for customers. Front desk staff could be a little less formal. But again chitchat is optional, and staff is a bit too cold and formal. An excellent choice after all. Recommended.

Awfully loud construction noise!! They didn’t even give us a warning about at all. Extremely slow wifi. Worst of all is the loud noises from the street all night. 3-5am people were yelling in street below. They gave us a room close to the construction across the street.Very loud construction noise starts before 7am. No coffee machine in the room. Just a kettle and instant coffee.

Yelp
Cheap for Gemeva nad it feels it. The desk girl is not very attentive or should I say freindly. She is very efficeint but don't look for a smile or ask her to multitask. The rooms are starck and the lighting is LED chic. The lobby does smell nice with all the new leather furnitue! At least the wi-fi was free!

Yelp
Rooms have Very smart design and clean layout. Recent reno. Double paneled windows keep the sound out well. Central location, we found food markets (migros) within 2 blocks, close to lake, restaurants/bars. One block from subway and train/bus station. Love love love the place!!

Yelp
I love modern design so visually LOVED this hotel. Beautifully done minimalistic, modern design with fantastic use of limited space, for example, the door separating the bathroom from the bedroom swings inward and then separates the toilet from the sink area. Beautiful frosted glass hides a spacious closet and safe, with several shelves also in the shower area. The hotel is in a great location walkable to the main train station--very easy to get to even rolling a large suitcase. Walkable to the lake and Old Town. Plenty of restaurants around. The hotel offers a basic continental breakfast on the top floor but it costs about 10 Euro. Reception staff was okay, not overly friendly, but provided information when asked. Ask for a transportation pass to ride all public transportation free during your stay. Most buses stop right outside the train station so transportation is very easy from the hotel. The only negative for me was the walls are thin--I was fortunately on the 7th floor corner, so only had one neighboring wall, but could hear the couple next door talking. I was also able to hear the thumping of music from a bar on the same street, but it stopped at 12:30a.m. Lower floors may hear more outside noise. But just pop in some earplugs and it's fine. For the price, location, and style, I recommend this hotel.
