The Best Hotels in Geneva, Switzerland (2024) | Condé Nast Traveler

"As part of the Tollman family’s Red Carnation Collection, Hotel d'Angleterre offers a loveable one-of-a-kind combination of English charm and Swiss elegance. Built in 1872 in a prime spot facing the lake, for many years it operated as the smallest five-star in Geneva, with just 45 rooms—until the 2021 opening of the nearby Woodward, which has a mere 26. Nevertheless, the Angleterre still feels very intimate and clubby. Guests who have spent time at other Red Carnation properties will recognize familiar Tollman design tics: the theatrically draped curtains and shimmering silk wall coverings, the quarry-depleting quantities of marble and onyx in the bathrooms, and the colorful chandeliers. The Presidential Suite—the best for lake views —has welcomed many notable figures over the years. The Angleterre’s Windows restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. The afternoon tea is a particular highlight, living up to the Englishness implied by the hotel’s name, with its finger sandwiches, scones, and exceptional selection of teas."

What a lovely property in an ideal location. But the best part is the service you get. The staff here anticipate your every need. Greeted as we walked to the entrance, bags immediately handled, everyone welcomed you inside. We were offered a glass of champagne at check in, while we waited for our room to be available. We were disappointed that they didn’t have an upgrade available for us, however, the room was lovely, crystal chandelier and beautiful art work. Not a great view. However, the bathroom was well appointed, and the housekeeping staff did an outstanding job, gave us plenty of towels, and took care to neatly arrange our sink area toiletries. The bed was very comfortable, and the robes were sumptuous! Francois made reservations for us to have lunch at a popular local bistro, which was excellent. Breakfast at the hotel was delicious, with great service. We really enjoyed the Leopard Bar, too. Very cool atmosphere and this Detroit native was loving the R&B music they were playing that night! Sadly, we only stayed there two nights. They offered to bring us breakfast at 5:30am so we could have a bite before we departed, and there was no additional charge for room service! This blew us away. Would love to return!

We stayed at for two nights in an Exclusive King Lake View room which had fantastic views of the lake. We had a great experience from arrival,L to departure. All the staff are super friendly and always willing to help. We had dinner on the first night at Windows, had a great table overlooking the lake. The food and wine were fantastic and the staff excellent. The hotel is well located and lots to do in the area. No hesitation to highly recommend this hotel

We really enjoyed this hotel. It had great charm. It had a nice view from the room that overlooked the water we were in a standard room that felt like a suite due to its size. Beds were comfy. The breakfast was great and was very delicious. The servers at this hotel was great too. This hotel is definitely worth the price.

Fantastic experience in every way. We stayed here for 3 nights and could not have asked for a better base luxe hotel in Geneva. We were upgraded to lovely room. Service was phenomenal from pre trip planning with concierge to Leopard Room staff and everyone we interacted with. Exceptional value for Geneva and we booked with American Express so additional amenities were icing on the cake. Well done 👏

Hôtel d’Angleterre in Geneva blends classic elegance with a warm, intimate atmosphere—right on Quai du Mont-Blanc with postcard views of the lake and Jet d’Eau. My room was quiet, beautifully kept, and thoughtfully appointed; housekeeping was immaculate. Public spaces feel refined without being stuffy, and the vibe is truly boutique.||The Windows Restaurant is a front-row seat to the water (great for lunch and afternoon tea), and the Leopard Bar is perfect for nightcaps with a bit of old-school glamour. The location makes exploring easy: a short stroll to the bridges, Jardin Anglais, and the Old Town.||Overall: polished, personal, and deeply comfortable—Geneva at its best. ||I’ll happily return.

Our stay at Hotel d’Angleterre was great!!!||We arrived on August 29, 2025 and departed on September 01, 2025.||ALL staff members we encountered were great. They were professional, welcoming, hospitable, and gave us a wonderful first impression of Switzerland, the hotel and the brand. We felt like VIP's||Our luggage arrived a day late. The staff helped us navigate that experience. They provided much needed information regarding where we could purchase clothing and other items. They stayed involved in the process which was very reassuring.||They provided wonderful guidance regarding where we could find food we would enjoy and how to get around in Geneva.||Our stay at Hotel d’Angleterre was a highlight of our trip!!!

Absolutely beautiful and luxurious hotel. The location is quiet and close to downtown, easily walkable to mostly everywhere. The service impressed me, the waitstaff went above and beyond to accommodate myself and the large group I was traveling with. Would definitely stay here again for future trips.

From the moment we arrived to our departure four day later, the service and welcome and amenities were outstanding. ||The readiness to answer and solve all our questions was exemplary. The hotel combines extraordinary comfort with flawless and discreet attention. The quality of the room was outstanding and the attention to detail within the rooms reminds me of a bygone era. ||I cannot wait to return.

Yelp
What a gorgeous hotel. This is definitely my favorite hotel in Geneva and it's one of the last of the privately owned (not big chain) five star grand hotels in the city center. The lobby is small and intimate but fabulous and all done in woods, Italian marble, lots of plush green walls with marble busts, statues and artwork. There's also the famous "Leopard Bar" in the hotel. I booked via AMEX FHR (the hotel is also a member of Leading Hotels of the World) and got a wonderful deal with breakfast and a room upgrade. Try to get a room in the front of the hotel facing the lake because you'll have the most beautiful view of the jet d'eau and the quai. Reception was so kind and actually showed me a couple of rooms. I ended up taking a room that was on the side because I loved the color and the artwork, but I could still see the lake when I looked out the window. All the rooms are different colors and shades and have different themes. Mine had a turquoise hue with a Parisian "can can" theme, original artwork and a chandelier. I also saw a room in the center with a direct view of the fountain that had a nautical royal blue theme. The thing this hotel is really famous for is the high tea at the Windows restaurant. Make a reservation in advance because it's very popular. It's something you can't miss. Try to nab a window seat with a view of the lake. The tiered tea tray is incredible and they make fabulous scones. I actually consumed an entire tier by myself! They also have a wonderful breakfast in Windows restaurant and I highly recommend the fresh crêpes with maple syrup (sirop d'érable). After breakfast, take a walk in front of the hotel to the quai where there is a modern statue for the Empress of Austria, Sisi, who was tragically assassinated nearby in the 19th century. She was staying at the Beau Rivage hotel next door. All in all this is my favorite hotel in the area. You won't be disappointed if you love the classic, grand hotel style. As it's privately owned and a part of the Red Carnation hotel group, it's not completely modernized and sparkling high tech new like some of the other hotels which have lost their character. That's its charm. And it's beautifully run and well managed. After a day the staff all knew me by name, Even the staff that I had not met! I don't know how they do that , but it's very nice

Yelp
***This review is for their Afternoon Tea service only.*** Amazing tea service with a friendly service. I have never been to an afternoon tea were the portions were so big. They're not even "finger" sandwiches but rather regular sandwiches. They have a variety of tea to choose from and everything was so good, we didn't have dinner that night.

Yelp
This hotel made me fall in love with Switzerland. The service was impecable and at an exceptional level. The view was incredible and walking and eating at the nearby restaurants on the river was a feeling I can never forget. Thank you for a delightful stay.

Yelp
The D'Angleterre is a traditional classic hotel. The attention to details and services are amazing, on par with top Hotels I stayed in Asia. Everything about the room was top notch. Comfortable and luxury bed. Well appointed bath and toiletries. You get a day pass for using local city transport, including the water taxi to cross lake Geneva. Internet is included. Even the remote TV controlled is sanitized for you. I gave it 4 stars because it doesn't have a gym, but you get a pass at a nearby full gym 100 yards next to the hotel.

Yelp
Very elegant and nice hotel. From the moment I arrived the attention to detail was very evident. The staff from the doorman to the front desk to include concierge was top notch. Very nice location with a great view of the lake. The rooms are nicely adorned and spacious. The shower (water pressure) was probably one of the very best I have had throughout Europe. Nice blackout shades and comfortable bed. The one piece of advice I have is do NOT let them give you a room on the backside (away from lake) over the kitchen area. The staff uses that area as their smoke break area. They were very loud all night long forgetting that guests were trying to sleep in the rooms above them.

Yelp
My daughter and I stayed here for four nights in July, and it is in every way an ideal hotel. The location is perfect, right on the lake with a view of Jet d'eau. The room was large, bright, and comfortably furnished. The staff was superb. The hotel is small enough that I was always greeted by name, and the concierge was most helpful. The Windows restaurant has a beautiful view and the food is fine for breakfast, but you will certainly want to explore Geneva and its myriad dining opportunities.
