Hotel Das Weitzer (Graz, Styria) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A century-old hotel in the heart of the Styrian capital of Graz sounds like a recipe for an old-fashioned stay, but even though Das Weitzer has been in the family for generations, it’s kept pace with the times. This section of town has transformed into a creative district — the “friendly alien” art museum is a short walk away — and as you pass through the doors of this elegant old grand hotel, you may be surprised at the contemporary interiors and the youthful atmosphere." - Tablet Hotels

Our room was absolutely fine but overlooked the central well. Boring. However, the place itself is right on the river but rooms with that view are premium price I'd guess. It's very much a business hotel with that kind of feel; however, all staff were very efficient and most helpful. The bar area itself is pleasant but can be populated in the evening by younger business guests unwinding and having more than a few. Mention must be made of their breakfast: served in a very pleasant room, big enough to accommodate everyone staying...and the choice - all kinds of everything, fresh, and tastefully set out. We enjoyed our stay.

Overall a good hotel to stay for the night and enjoy the town. Rooms and passage areas are somewhat outdated, but everything was functioning well. Staff helped us a lot with some special requests (mostly due to traveling with a baby). Breakfast was quite good, though the room was quite crowded and very hot! (I'm guessing due to ventilation difficulties.) Entrance and lobby area do indeed look as good as in the pictures so no complaints there! Car parking is a few meters down the road, which I found unusual, but it wasn't inconvenient at all. Overall we're satisfied with our stay, thank you!

While on business in Graz Austria with several coworkers. Our business partners in Graz had recommended the Hotel Das Weitzer for our week stay. We were all very impressed with this wonderful hotel. The rooms were all spacious and very nicely appointed. It had a great little bar in the main lobby area and had a very wonderful restaurant just off the lobby where we had our breakfast at every morning. Also a great restaurant, Der Steirer is attached to the hotel and we had a wonderful dinner there our first night in Graz. I would highly recommend it. The hotel is very nicely situated in Graz. It sits directly across from the Muir River. Just a few minute walk to the heart of Graz. While we were Graz, which was at the end of February, we just happened to have been there at that time of the year when the city and most of Austria celebrates their spring celebration. All of the local residences of Graz come out with very unique and amazing costumes to celebrate the arrival of spring. It was an amazing time and my business partner, and I had a great evening celebrating with all of the locals. I’m not sure how we did this, but we somehow managed to crash a college or university party in an apartment building in one of the squares and it was so much fun. I’m sure they were wondering who these two older gentlemen were but no one questioned us. In fact, they offered us drink after drink. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Graz Austria. Paul Calgary Canada 🇨🇦

Overall a good hotel. Centrally located, close to tram and bus lines, and it was easy to get to and from the train station, and easy walk to the heart of Graz. A number of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Three things that could be improved on: first, the WiFi was very average for 2025 standards. It worked but using Google Maps on my computer to look up places was very challenging., Video calls were almost impossible given the speed and I had to use my cellular service to call my family at home in North America. Second, the breakfast was good but not great. The texture of some of the food was displeasing and could use some work. The coffee from the machine was burnt and was difficult to drink. Lastly it would be a good idea to have dedicated shampoo and conditioner in the rooms. I had a combined hair and body wash that didn’t lather. It was also the same soap used for hand wash therefore I didn’t want to put it in my hair. A good hotel that serves its purpose but could use some improvements.

If I could I would give 0 to them! Heating doesn't work. We wanted to call reception, but the phone also haven't work so I had to go to them. Twice. The receptionist was super rude, no polite at all and his solution was to bring the heater inside the room if they find it, and backup solution was to give us extra blankets. Outside temperature -4. After a long waiting time they finaly gave us heater with no excuse. When we try to speak with him he left us in the midlle of the sentence, said "bye, bye" and left. No maners at all. Worst and the rudest receptioner I ever met. Not the mention small rooms, small bathroom... If we were a little bit bigger we couldn't fit and move in room. Desaster! Leaving a picture of the "perfect", "genious" solution.

Google
Its a wonderful hotel, near the city center of Graz, just cross the bridge and you are in the hart of Graz. Everything is just what you would expect from a decent hotel. Clean rooms, friendly staff, good breakfast and a pleasant accomodation. Style is mixed modern and authentic and it just feels right. Had a good rest and a pleasant stay!

Stayed a couple of days for business. Location is great and breakfast wonderful. Rooms otherwise good, but temperature was way too hot and no way to cool the room without opening the window. Also no coffeemaker in the room.

I stayed here for a few nights earlier this year on a business trip. The rooms are hit or miss but it's centrally located. It's easy to get around and the staff are very helpful.

Yelp
I stayed in this hotel for business purposes and am basing my review on my business requirements. The parking was easy and the location was easy to get to. This hotel is in a perfect location to explore Graz and get some traditional Austrian food, drink and scenery. The lower review is down to room facilities. The room was large and clean but missed some essentials for me. There are no tea/coffee making facilities and no iron/ironing board. The bed was large, the pillows soft and the mattress firm. Not my personal preference but i slept and felt rested. Unfortunately, the thin walls made it harder as I heard everything my neighbours did (showers, opening their wardrobe etc) The biggest problem for me was the shower, although it was really clean and modern I had problems with the water. You cannot set a consistent temperature. It would go ice cold and then scolding hot within seconds. Sometimes it would be fine, but sometimes it was hard to take a shower. I suspect it's when it others are using the water nearby. Overall my experience was okay and because I was busy I was never able to give the hotel the opportunity to fix my problems. I'm sure if I did they would have done their best as the staff were extremely friendly upon checkin and came across very helpful.

Yelp
A short walk across the river leads you to main shopping/dining part of Graz. Hotel room is small and so is the bathroom. There is a bar in this hotel. Nothing fancy but functional and clean.

Yelp
I have had very good food here. We had our Christmas office dinner here and i have been there a couple of times otherwise. The service was fantastic and the food was perfect. I would love to give 5 stars but the restaurant is a bit too old fashioned for my taste, and I would rather have some interior modernization to give it 5 stars.:-)
