Where to Stay in Florence: The Best Neighborhoods For Your Visit

"I appreciated Hotel Davanzati as a cozy three-star choice that delivers great value — it includes a complimentary continental breakfast, afternoon tea, and an aperitivo hour with prosecco; the rooms are a bit dated but spacious with comfy beds, a desk, flatscreen TV and wardrobe, and the bathrooms are large with heated towel racks and showers that have excellent water pressure, while the staff go out of their way to help." - Matthew Kepnes

The 6 Best Hotels in Florence (Updated 2025)

"Just a block from Ponte Vecchio in the heart of the historic center, this cozy three-star hotel offers a lot of value: a free continental breakfast with fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, pastries, and cold cuts, plus social hours with complimentary drinks and snacks (afternoon tea and cakes) and an aperitivo with Prosecco and savory bites. The rooms have pastel-colored walls with historic drawings and maps, are generally spacious with comfy beds, a desk, flatscreen TV, and wardrobe, and the bathrooms are large with heated towel racks and showers with excellent water pressure. The staff really go out of their way to help, though note there is no elevator so it’s not the best choice for guests with mobility issues." - Matthew Kepnes

My family stayed at Hotel Davanzati May 2025 and it was a fantastic experience. The location couldn't be better - right in the heart of the city, just a short walk to the train station, and plenty of great restaurants and shops. It made exploring Florence so easy without the needing a car. ||What really stood out though was the staff. From the moment of checking in, everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Shout out to ANGELO, the breakfast staff, and happy hour bartender. They treated us like old friends. Angelo went out of his way to recommend local spots. The room was was clean and comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast had a good variety of options. The cappuccino was especially nice as were the cocktails and lite horderves during happy hour. ||I'd definitely recommend Hotel Davanzati to anyone visiting Florence - great value for the location and top notch Service!

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Davanzati. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The lady at breakfast made a delicious cappuccino every morning, which was such a nice start to the day. The location in Florence is perfect — right in the heart of the city, within walking distance of all the highlights. Highly recommended!

I had a lovely single room next to the dining area. The hotel is in a fantastic location- right in the middle of Florence. Literally a few minutes walk from all the action! The staff are lovely. The breakfast ladies are so welcoming and friendly too. I highly recommend this hotel - you won't be disappointed!

I’m giving this hotel 5 stars. Our first time to Florence and this hotel was located perfectly. We could walk to everything. We were greeted by Leonardo, who was amazing. Friendly spoke very good English and made us feel welcomed. They have a great continental breakfast with a barista All included. They had a happy hour, which was wonderful. We got to meet other guests. The entrance has a flight of stairs that are steep so if you cannot do stairs, that would be challenging. I highly recommend this hotel.

If you like small quaint hotels with excellent customer service this is the place. Angelo worked most of the time of my 5 day stay and he was great. The hotel is close to everything. The breakfast was very good. There was lots of variety and everything was very fresh. Note no pancakes and bacon. But lots of meats, boiled eggs, pastries, breads, fresh fruit, yogurts, cappuccinos, Expresso and teas. There is a happy hour each evening as well. The room was clean and well maintained. Don't let the entry stairs alarm you. If you can walk a flight of stairs you are set. The staff happily will come down and take your bags. All elevator after. It's my hotel on my next Florence trip.

Wonderful stay in Florence. The staff impressed us with their service. A warm thank you to the receptionist Cosmin, who showed and told us everything we should see. The rooms were clean, breakfast was simple but tasty. The biggest surprise was the happy hour where they serve you wine and prosecco for free :) Many thanks!

The Hotel Davanzati is not only a wonderfully situated hotel in the heart of Florence's historic district, steps away from all the incredible sights. Also the customer service is exemplary. Don't let the 15 steps to reach the elevator deter you, this hotel is excellent in terms of value. The hotel staff go out of their way to help in any way, from restaurant recommendations that avoid the tourist traps to ensuring that your airport transport in on time and even helping to carry your luggae to the cab! The rooms are clean and comfortable and quiet. The double glazed windows help muffle street noise.||I would highly recommend this hotel

We were lucky to be able to get a room on such short notice; we think someone canceled last minute. This place was in a great location, super walkable and near Piazza Della Signoria. The room was super spacious and finally had a normal size shower (lots of small showers in Italy). But the service was really what impressed us. Everyone that works there was phenomenal! When we walked up to the building, Samba (I hope that was his name, it’s been a week) who wasn’t even on his shift yet, helped me with my luggage up the stairs (there is a small flight of stairs to the elevator, but you can call and they will help you, but I didn’t even have to call!). We got there super early so the room wasn’t ready, but they kept our bags so we could explore the town. When we came back late, they had the bags in our room. Breakfast was fantastic; fresh fruit, croissants, hard boiled eggs, espresso, and more! The bed was a little too firm but the room was silent and probably the best we slept the whole trip. They gave us great suggestions, helped direct me on where to exchange money, and were just so hospitable. I would 100% suggest anyone stay here if they are going to Florence!
