Hôtel de Bourgtheroulde (Rouen, Normandy) 4 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Plenty of ink continues to be spilled about the south of France, but there’s plenty worth seeing up north as well. Rouen is the ancient capital of Normandy, perhaps best known for Notre Dame, a gothic cathedral which dates back as far as the 12th century. It’s this historic side of Rouen that the Hotel de Bourgtheroulde is meant to express — though its vintage as a boutique hotel is quite recent, the building that houses it was constructed in the 16th century." - Tablet Hotels

A very nice stay in Rouen. They reached out with helpful driving instructions including the code for lowering the pillars blocking the street, allowing us to drive up with the luggage. We opted for valet parking, it is only a bit more expensive then the garage and worth it in our opinion. Staff was lovely and helpful, room was very nice with a view over the courtyard and a bit of the city. Would recommend if you are willing to splurge a bit.

Google
An amazing hotel in the center of Rouen, easy to walk everywhere. Lovely rooms and staff, and a great spa area to relax. A special thank you to Jay Léopoldine and the help she gave us of finding the best places to see in Rouen and welcoming us to the hotel in such a lovely way

From the minute we stepped into the hotel we felt cared for and welcomed. The interior was contemporary with art everywhere . The breakfast was excellent and included for Marriott Elite statuses. They upgraded us to a junior suite and there was nothing junior about it. The room was massive, equipped with a fridge and an expression|Machine .||The spa was comfortable and took advantage of a treatment . (Not cheap.) The pool is relaxing. ||The service here was above and beyond, with turn down service at the end of the day . ||I had never been to Rouen and was surprised how beautiful it was . I hope I come back

An historic hotel. We enjoyed a sumptuous (upgraded) room. Impressive breakfast buffet. Fantastic location for the immediate neighborhood. Access to the hotel is a challenge so be sure you've followed the hotel's instructions carefully (once you do that it's easy). Walking distance to the historic La Couronne, the oldest restaurant in situated on the Place du Vieux-Marché, where Julia Child ate her first French meal.

I am writing this on the last night of a super pleasant five-night stay at The Hotel Bourgtheroulde during our first visit to Rouen. Our stay has been wonderful, from the front desk greetings by Elidjah and Timothe to the excellent recommendations and reservations made by our concierge, Leopoldine. The staff and location made this an easy five-star rating! |We are Marriott Lifetime Platinum and were upgraded to a very comfortable, private, (if a bit off the beaten path) corner, king room overlooking the Place de Pucelle. Services were excellent, but the extremely convenient location within a 15-minute walk of all the major sights, great restaurants, and good shopping, added to our enjoyment. As usual with the Marriott Autographs—the historic building has a few quirks, but the Jeff Koons balloon dogs and the modern art in the halls made up for the long walk to our room and pricey drinks in the bar. We unequivocally recommend the hotel for anyone visiting Rouen for tourism or business. We enjoyed everything about the city and the Hotel Bourgtheholde

What a great place to stay! Right in the middle of the 'action' but still very quiet. Staff is extremely nice and helpful, rooms are incredible. Definitely worth a visit!

Google
We had a wonderful stay in this hotel recently. It started with the clear and friendly messages sent to inform us about how to approach the hotel and where to park our car, which was very convenient as the hotel is majestically located in the center of the city, which is a pedestrian area. The entrance is impressive and the reception staff was kind, capable and very welcoming. Our room was beautiful, spacious enough for 2 adults and 2 children and equipped with all we needed. The kingsize bed was extremely comfortable. We also used the swimming pool which was great as well and had a drink in the bar, where they have a lovely cocktail menu. All in all a fantastic stay. One point of improvement we encountered, was the location of the ashtray for smokers on the courtyard. It was positioned at the base of the stairs leading up to the reception, so unavoidable. In 2025, this is no longer acceptable, and the courtyard had enough space to facilitate a corner that will not force non-smokers to enter the hotel through the stink of cigarettes.

The hotel is located in a superb quiet position only a few minutes from the historic centre of Rouen. The receptionist, concierge and car valet parking staff were all excellent and couldn’t do enough to ensure you had an enjoyable stay.

Yelp
The Mr. and I recently spent 3 nights in the magnificent Hotel de Bourgtheroulde Autograph Collection, in a Junior Suite with a courtyard view. This is a beautiful, well located hotel that offers impeccable service and attention to detail. We enjoyed the extensive breakfast buffet each morning of our stay. With both sweet and savory options we were spoilt for choice. There was a full bar with a piano player every night but Sunday. It was a fun place to gather after a day of touring. Located in the heart of the old city, we were able to walk everywhere. If we return to Rouen, the Hotel de Bourgtheroulde would be our first choice for accommodations.

Yelp
Gorgeous historic hotel located right in the center of the best of Rouen. The rooms are dated but public spaces, spa, fitness center, have all clearly seen a renovation. The spa offering is fantastic - massive pool, and great additional facilities such as dry and wet sauna. Our room unfortunately didn't have working A/C or WiFi, but the hotel was able to take care of us accordingly and to our satisfaction. The breakfast is really fantastic - great selection. Huge thank you to Thomas, Maxime, and Aglie for the hospitality and making our short stay so memorable.

Yelp
This hotel is awesome! It's the only 5 star hotel in Rouen and it has lots of history and charm. We had a hard time accessing it by car as our Navi took us to a certain point and then only the valet/bellboy can lower the metal post to let the car in. He was not there when we arrived and signage was not clear. We ended up driving around for 15minutes and our Navi kept bringing us back to this spot. Luckily, the valet was there the next time we arrived and he let us in. We had him valet our car at 25 euros per night and we did not use the car in Rouen as everything is walking distance from the hotel. The entrance and courtyard are so beautiful and a historic site...tourists are constantly stopping to take pictures. The front desk is large with helpful staff and a guestbook to sign. There are jars of caramels and candy to have a sweet treat and a carafe of flavoured water and glasses to have a drink. They also have umbrellas that they offer you when you go out if it's raining. The lobby bar is up a few steps and has a glass floor that looks over the pool area. I could not see the pool due to sun reflection but I could see the lobby through the floor when I was down at the pool. We were given an accessible room due to being given a late check out. Other than the shower being open and contributing to a wet washroom floor, the room was awesome. Huge ceilings, large space, and comfy. This hotel follows better "green" practices than others. Glass water bottles and glasses and porcelain cups. But they did change towels twice per day if needed (being an accessible room our towels got very wet keeping the washroom floor dry so we needed this done). They left little tins of caramels, 2 sunglasses and a reusable bag when we arrived. Then they left little treats each night. One morning we slept in and cleaning staff tried to get in the room twice to clean. There was no "do not disturb" sign we could put out. The restaurant in the hotel was great. They accommodated my dietary restrictions and made a great meal for me. All the major sites are within walking distance, as are several eateries and shops. It is a 20 minute walk down to the water where the Armada festival was happening.

Yelp
We managed to book this hotel at the last minute thru the Marriott Reward Desk. The photos and previous reviews were outstanding. As soon as we completed the reservation, I got a call from Mr. Bozidar at the Front Desk to assure our group the rooms were taken care of and to expect a smooth check in process. He even offered the Front Desk email, which I used to send him names and desire room type. Bozidar greeted us and immediately expedited the check in process. The entire Staff was simply phenomenal. The lobby, bar and restaurant areas were impecable. The decor was outstanding, very modern to be a Castle. The outside seating area and town were very beautiful. My room was perfectly decorated and included all the amenities like coffee machine, mini bar, and iron/board. The Concierge booked a restaurant for us that was located right next to the hotel. Le Couronne, establishes in 1345 turned out to be a jewel. The oldest restaurant in France. The food was simply out of this world. Overall; great hotel, classic decor, comfortable and conveniently located to everything you could possibly need. The Staff members were impressive. I'll be back!

Yelp
My first visit to Rouen. The hotel is majestic. The front desk staff were very friendly, helpful and many were fluent in English. The rooms were spacious and the amenities of the indoor pool and sauna were nice. They had a very new or recently renovated feeling in the pool area. Being platinum I received an upgrade to a larger room, jr suite, facing a courtyard/public square. Quite a large room, 2 twins pushed together and on the window side 3 large ceiling to floor windows) there was a couch that someone could sleep on. Hotel had a large bathroom with separate bathtub and shower. Single sink. Separate toilet. Room had a small mini fridge and safe. Slippers and robes. Hot water kettle and Nespresso machine and tea bags. Love this about Europe. Wish US hotel provided hot water kettles. Other rooms faced their courtyard with beautiful reliefs. The hotel is located right next to historic Joan of Arc church/monument, restaurants, ATM, and literally could walk outside to have delicious patisseries and snacks. Best gourmet pizzas at corner JM cafe. It looks like a pub but best woodfired style pizza and open late! We only had time to do a partial walking tour but seeing the Notre Dame Cathedral of Rouen was only a 10 Min walk away. A farmers market and a market are only 3 mins walk away. This is really a great location to explore the city. Hope to be back one day!

Yelp
Probably one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. Impeccable service, right down to the valet parking. Very comfortable room. Excellent decor including plenty of artwork on display. And it's right in the centre of town, within walking distance of everything there is to see and do in Rouen. It's a great base for a stay in Rouen, though arguably there isn't really enough to do in Rouen itself to justify a whole weekend!

Yelp
our last night on a three week driving vacation in europe we stayed here out of 13 other hotels, this was the most impressive. yes yes yes !!! not cheap, but not really expensive for what it is. we stayed in the best old room they had and it was completely incredible. Strongly recommend this unique hotel and it made our last night worth the whole trip. btw, we had no idea where Rouen was or what it was since it was not really mentioned as a tourist location, but we stumbled upon it. Great it is not a tourist location. Churches were unbelievable sights to see and very friendly people here in Normandy.

Yelp
Was in town for the 70th Anniversary of D-Day and must say that this hotel knows how to run a five star locations. There is almost nothing I would complain about ... almost... the one issue that knocked them down a star was that I had secured and PAID for an early check-in and for my suite to face East (towards the rising sun, as in the same direction my grandfather wanted to travel after getting off the beach). My room was 45 minutes late in being ready and my suite faced South. For it is the little things in life.

Yelp
One of the best hotels we've ever stayed in! At 167 Euros for seniors, it was a bargain. Our room was unique, with some exposed stonework, a bath area up a few steps, much space. The bath itself was a work of art, granite, Roman-style shower made of travertine tiles, very large sink-vanity area. The king bed was very comfortable. This hotel room will spoil you for any place else. We will definitely stay here if in Rouen. Staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. If arriving by car, however, be sure to get good directions as a number of nearby streets do not go through to the hotel. Location in great, as well -- around the corner from Le Vieux Marché, the site of Joan of Arc being burned at the stake; a short walk to Le Gros Horloge & the Rouen Cathedral made famous by Monet. Hotel has a large indoor pool, fitness center and spa.
