Hotel De Buci (Paris, Île-de-France) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Who hasn’t at times fantasized about living the artistic life in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the historically creative and intellectual hub of Paris? You may not have yet managed to publish that great roman à clef but a stay at Hôtel de Buci can certainly make you feel a true part of the 6th arrondissement. All 19 bedrooms at this intimate address feature bold colors and strong fabrics; ask for one overlooking the courtyard for extra peace." - Tablet Hotels

So, here's a funny story. I stayed in this neighborhood a few years ago and when I knew I was coming back, I thought I booked a different hotel. So, when we first checked in, I realized that I had made a mistake. . . .but it turned out to be the best possible mistake. We LOVED this hotel! The rooms are small (it is Paris after all) but the bed and pillows were very comfortable and the bathroom was plenty roomy. The decor in the lobby and the rooms are lovely, and the hotel is so QUIET, even though the neighborhood outside is bustling. It was even quiet the night of Fete de la Musique, and that says something. That is another plus of this hotel. . .location, location, location. You can walk EVERYWHERE - to cafes, bistros, shopping, the river, the Louvre, Notre Dame, Jardin Luxembourg. And a huge shoutout to the staff. The front desk folks were very nice, and Sanjay was AMAZING. He gave us the best recommendations - for an exhibit at the Louvre and for an amazing restaurant in particular. My husband and I both agree that we will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Paris.

This hotel felt like an elegant home after a week. The concierge was incredibly helpful. The breakfast buffet was a highlight of the trip. Staff is attentive, lovely decor throughout, rooms are nice with comfortable beds. Gourmet coffee /tea/water station available all day. Great neighborhood and walking distance from most top tourist sites.

Our family’s birthday celebration was spectacular, thanks to the efforts of the marvelous concierge, Sanjay! We couldn’t book a sold-out dinner cruise for Fête National/Bastille Day. Luckily for us, Sanjay booked one for us! And he surprised us with a delicious cake with my husband’s name on it! All of the staff are friendly and professional. Sanjay is tireless, gracious and exceptional. The executive suite was spacious and perfect for a family. This lovely hotel is centrally located in a chic and very safe neighborhood, surrounded by many restaurants, shops and galleries. Thank you for our wonderful stay! We look forward to next time.

I highly recommend the Hotel de Buci. The rooms are clean and comfortable and, while a little small, they are typical in size for many European hotels. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. The concierge, Sanjay, is a gem. Incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Hotel breakfasts are terrific. The location is great—convenient for sightseeing, shopping and dining. This is a great place to stay.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights and loved it. When you check in, book a spot in the private pool and sauna room - It’s free of charge and an absolute deluxe experience. The staff are fabulous and so is the breakfast.

Hotel was perfect (except for the very small room). Staff was friendly, particularly the concierge Sanjay. Breakfast was very nice as well as the always available Jura coffee and water bar. Great location on the Left Bank. Didn’t use the spa but it is a nice plus in this location. Overall a very well executed boutique hotel.

Absolutely loved our time at Hotel De Buci! We experienced some of the hottest weather of the season, and the rooms were well equipped with air conditioning and all the comforts we needed. All the staff were sensational, with amazing restaurant recommendations locally. |Just a single person per room, so the room size was no issue. |Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay here in the future.

Hotel de Buci never disappoints. Always feels like a home away from home.|The location can't be beaten with the ability to walk and explore much of the intriguing history that is Paris. |The staff are superb and always welcoming. Nothing is ever an issue.|Sanjay the Chef Concierge again produced fantastic options for private tours which gave us a more personal local perspective. Like de Buci, Sanjay never disappoints.|Allan & Pam Laing NZ

Yelp
My wife and I had a fantastic stay at Hotel De Buci! The room was very comfortable, clean, and peaceful. We had a balcony that overlooked the street so we could view the nightlife from our room. The balcony also has a motorized shade for the windows that make the room pitch black for some much needed rest after the long journey there or after a long day of fun. The bathroom has a towel warmer, which is always a bonus! Room service was great, and I highly recommend the breakfast buffet to start your day right. This hotel is in a great location next to many different restaurants, markets, and places to shop. It's even right next to a laundromat, but the hotel does offer dry cleaning services. Hotel De Buci is very accommodating to any needs you may have as well, we forgot our European plugin adapter so we couldn't charge any of our US electronic devices, but they had some and were more than happy to let us use theirs for free. They also have umbrellas by the entrance for their guests just Incase it rains. The staff is very friendly, considerate, and always glad to help. We extend our gratitude to Hotel De Buci and everyone that has made our stay in Paris incredible. Next time we plan on staying here again but upgrading to a suite.

Yelp
Our short stay was perfection from greeting to farewell. Sanjay and Leopoldo looked after us like family. Our room was on the 6 th floor, elegant and comfortable. Everything we needed was in place. The beautiful breakfast room gave us a great start to our busy days, attended to by a most charming gentleman. Sanjay came around and knew every guest by name and asked if he could assist in any way. An oasis of tranquility and comfort in this bustling Paris neighborhood. Merci et à bientôt!

Yelp
Great location. Great staff. Beautiful rooms. Nothing to complain about (besides taking a shower can be messy. The water gets through the doors and gets the entire bathroom wet.)

Yelp
THE VERY WORST. AVOID. My husband and I splurged on this hotel room for the final night of our two week French honeymoon and it was an absolute mistake. We were dreaming of an AirBnB or even a competently run hostel. The rooms are microscopic. Even though the price is high, nothing is included. Breakfast of coffee and yogurt is an extra 20 euro and eggs are an additional 3 euro on top of that. Coffee in the lobby is even an extra 3,50 euro. The sink did not drain in the first room we were put in. The concierge came up and tried plunge it and when I rejected that unacceptably disgusting option, we were switched to an identical room on another floor...in which the sink did not drain. The toilet seat was also up in the new room. When my husband took two bottles of water from the lobby because the hotel could not provide a functional sink, the concierge tried to charge him for it. There were stains all over the patterned fabric walls. The only plants in the planter were large weeds. The windows had to be closed at night because the street is loud but the fans do not work, which doesn't really matter because the vents are for show. There's a grate over a "vent" but if you look closely you can see that there is only a small space for air to flow through behind it so the room is very stuffy. The next morning, we found out that the concierge had attempted to apply a charge for the water to our room. The employee who spoke to us also snidely suggested that our problem with the stuffiness was because Americans are dependent on AC. This was just completely out of line and also incorrect--we live in West LA and don't have AC. The best part of Hotel de Buci was leaving.

Yelp
Charming Very Parisian feeling little hotel in an amazing location. The rooms are small but lovely. Get the street side rooms with views for the full experience - we slept with our windows open and listened to Paris all night long. Loved it.

Yelp
Wonderful place to stay. Right in the mix of cafes and icecream choices. They hospitality is refreshing. We stayed here last year and because we have 3 children (17, 14 and 12) we needed more room. We ended up in the suite and it was great. There are 2 complete bathrooms and plenty of room to not feel crowded. Can't beat the service and care they provide. We look forward to coming back again.

Yelp
Normally, I start reviews with the good but here I'm going to start with the bad since you may not bother reading the rest of my review afterwards. So, for the bad: - Bedbugs: As a frequent traveler, I've checked in 300-400 times in hotels over the past 9 years of so and I've run into bedbugs once with Hotel Buci being the second. I killed one with a tissue and brought it in the bloody tissue to the the front desk where the attendant looked at it and said (in French) "This is a bedbug (une puce)" before throwing it away and ignoring my comment. At the very least, stay away from room 44. - Room size is tiny, under 90 sq. ft (not including the bathroom), which made it very stuffy especially since it faced a wall For the good: - Great location in the heart of the 6th arrondissment - Recently and very tastefully redone - Modern bathroom - Affordable rate for Paris Personally, I'm not surprised that "Buci" means "Buttocks" in Romanian. I wish I had known that before staying there.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here on our first trip to Paris for 7 nights with mixed reviews. This Hotel is located in the heart of St. Germain des Pres., so it is near all the main tourist attractions, with many restaurants and shops right outside the Hotel door. The staff are all friendly and speak English. The concierge is helpful and available 24/7. There is free wifi, and the cleaning staff cleans the room/provides turn down service. The bad? The room that I stayed in could be cleaner. There were multiple areas around the bed and closet that needed dusting. The bathroom walls were filthy. There were multilple unknown stains on the wall and door from liquids that easily could be wiped off from prior patrons. Also, the shower grout had mildew on it. My main gripe? The room was extremely stuffy and warm. It was about 16 degrees C the week we stayed and there was no way to turn on the AC, just the heat during the fall and winter. The room had no fan. We had to stay cool with the window open at night. The worse thing was there was a metal cover placed over our window after the turn down service! We would come back to our rooms after a long day of walking and sightseeing and we wanted to die. I told the front desk about it and they accommodated us. The Boudoir room (150 sq ft) is decorated in 18 century parisian style. The queen bed itself takes up most of the living space. It's ok if you are a single traveler, but if you have two people with two luggages like us, you have to make like tetris and maneuver carefully otherwise you'd bump into one another. There's two closets, a safe, coffee/tea machine, iron/board, mini bar, &flat screen tv all jammed into this tiny room. If you look at the website pic, that is the room - there is not much room to walk in other than into the bathroom. I think this is common in most paris hotel rooms, unless you get a suite. Their 4 star hotel rating is misleading as apparently the meaning is different in France compared to the states. In France a 4 star rating means more about the minimum size of the guest room, and that they speak additional european language other than french. I guess I expected more from a "4" star establishment as the price to stay here for the cheapest room is pretty exorbitant. Next time I will look into renting a nice apartment for that price.

Yelp
What a fantastic little hotel in the middle of St. Germain. If you really want to experience PARIS....like the PARIS you see in the movies, this is your sport, just steps from the front door of this hotel are amazing bakeries, cafes and it's just a short walk to The Louve. We happen to be here on Christmas Eve and Christmas day - our family of 4 (including 2 teens) had a Christmas we'll never forget. The staff at Hotel de Buci were very accommodating and warm and friendly. We hope to go back someday and will definately stay here. Merci!

Yelp
The best location in Paris. Phenomenal staff and service. Plush rooms with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. An exceptional value. The breakfast is delicious.

Yelp
Amazing little boutique in the best neighborhood of Paris. Everyone at the reception desk was ultra friendly and helpful. They had our room ready by 8am on Christmas morning. I couldn't recommend a place more.

Yelp
I booked 2 rooms at this hotel for myself and a colleague with high hopes. As I frequent Paris often for business I was hoping to find another reliable hotel in St Germain. I booked a few months in advance and gave my cc info. Shortly after, I received an email from Hotel Artus' concierge email account welcoming me. However, a couple days before my trip I received an email from a "Hotel de Buci" saying I had an reservation, to which I denied, saying I had no reservation and I asked to cancel. However arriving in Paris I realized that the Hotel Artus was on Rue De Buci when I passed the address to my taxi driver. At 6 PM in the taxi, realizing that I may have accidentally canceled my reservation I immediately called Hotel Artus and found the "Hotel Artus & Hotel de Buci" are part of the same group! I inquired whether they had reservations for either myself or my colleague at either location - to which they replied no. Apparently they had emailed me from the "Hotel de Buci" email account to confirm my reservation for "Hotel Artus." I guess they expect everyone to know they at are the same group?! They couldn't provide a reason why they were confirming my stay from a DIFFERENT email account and they said they had no rooms available for our full stay. I verbally said I might need them to hold rooms for us for one night. However, on the way I found other accommodations online and did not call back. The next day they emailed me to tell me 1)while they canceled my original reservation I hadn't specifically canceled my colleagues reservation which was on my cc and they were charging me a full night--I didn't even know I was canceling MY reservation bc it was from a different email account, so why would I cancel my colleagues!? (2) because i said I may need them to hold rooms for my colleague and I on the phone they were charging me for an additional two rooms in addition to my colleagues reservation which I had not canceled! At 6PM they weren't selling those rooms anyway so they were maximizing their revenue at my expense and taking even more advantage of their OWN error . Completely unethical! I'm disputing the charges and lambasting a corrupt or stupid staff. Any advice on how to combat this would be appreciated!

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here on our "babymoon" for two nights and it was absolutely fantastic. The location is perfect (tons of bakeries, markets, restaurants, and cafes within a couple of blocks), the staff is multi-lingual and very nice and accommodating, and the lobby and rooms are decorated very nicely. We didnt eat the breakfast but it looked great. Free Wi-fi is included in your stay. We opted for their smallest room, a boudoir room, and it was more than enough room for us. The bed was very comfortable. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at Hotel de Buci and LOVED it! The staff, Sanjay, Gregoire, Nicole and all, were wonderful. They were so nice to us. We started our stay in the room Le Contempoire. We had a split of lovely champagne, sweet biscuits and a sweet note to greet us. The room was cozy and very attractive. Then we moved to a suite which was so French. We could see all the rooftops of the Saint Germain de Pres. The neighborhood is hopping. Great cafés and lots of boutiques too. This really is a fantastic neighborhood, you are so close to the Seine and so many of the city's attractions....you can walk to them in less than 5 to 20 minutes. Also, if you are jet lagged or just plain tired, you only have to walk out the front door to be swept up into the chic, historic neighbohood. If I won the Lotto....I'd live there. Recommend highly.

Yelp
We paid $330 a night and we've found out that if we had reserved on line we could have received a $150 + rate...we had written them directly and called them by phone to make out reservation and they never gave us an offer. The hotel has a great location, but there are many in the area that are less expensive. Room are minute. Bathrooms are like airplane bathrooms. Nicely decorated but way over priced. Consierges are nice and cordial...pity their rates are ridiculous.

Yelp
My family and I stayed at the Hotel de Buci for four days during a very warm September 2012 period. We reserved the suite Mme. de Pompadour as there were three of us. Suite was a good size with queen bed in the bedroom and a Murphy bed in the living room area. The bathroom was a normal size and had good amenities as well as great water pressure. Nice to have a normal hair dryer too. The staff were very personable. When we arrived we were sat in the lobby and given drinks as it was so warm. And when we arrived to our suite we were pleasantly surprised that the staff placed a welcome gift in our room: A selection of spices from Olivier & Co. We had a bed and breakfast rate so my husband and I enjoyed the buffet downstairs in their charming breakfast room whilst our lovely server sent up a tray with pastries, jams, and tea for our son who couldn't manage to wake up at a normal time! We'd visited Paris many times before preferring the St. Germain des Pres location best. And for sure staying at the Hotel de Buci one is right there in the middle of St. Germain. So there is no shortage of restaurants and nightlife. It was great to have Amorino up the street for their fantastic ice creams because again of the hot weather! All in all, it's a lovely hotel but a bit pricey due to the location.
