Recently spent a 3rd weekend among friends in this beautifully unique piece of France, so very overdue to leave a review after multiple visits! Absolutely love the rustic charm of Cacharel, and its environs. Beautifully appointed rooms and bathrooms, the best heating for a cosy sleep and comfiest bed we’ve encountered in a long time. Horse riding, walks, flamingo and bird watching, board games or reading a book by the fire, all you need for a leisurely few days of relaxation, after a delicious breakfast in the gorgeous dining room. The pool looks perfect for a summer sojourn too. Wonderful hosts. My personal favourite touch is all the photos and souvenirs that tell the story of this beautiful property. Cannot wait for our next stay..

Recently returned from 6 fabulous nights here and the only thing I could fault were the volume of mosquitos which lies outside of the hotels control. All rooms were extremely comfortable (with air conditioning), the breakfasts were delicious and the location and staff were excellent. Highly recommend.

I spent a wonderful two nights here after a hectic week of work. It was the end of tourist season and there was hardly anyone there, which was perfect for me. It was very quiet, very peaceful and the staff were awesome. Even with my lack of knowledge of French I managed to make myself understood and they in turn knew some English to help me out. I took the three hour horseback ride with an excellent guide, Marie. I can’t recommend this place enough. The owner and the staff were friendly, extremely helpful and the location is beautiful. I will definitely return in the future.

We spent two very happy weeks at Cacharel. The owner, M. Colomb, and all the staff were very friendly and helpful, the accommodation was clean, comfortable, simple and uncluttered (if you want luxury or glossy modernity this is not for you) but it was the setting that stole our heart: in the midst of the Camargue nature reserve we were lulled to sleep but the sound of the breeze in the tamarisk trees and awoke to views of the white horses and pink flamingoes and a delicious breakfast. If you are a lover of unspoilt natural places, you will love Cacharel. From the hotel, we had wonderful rides across the reserve on the gentle, good natured white horses and we spent time by the beautiful, sheltered pool where there was always either plenty of sunshine or plenty of shade and a cool drink or assiette de charcuterie. ||The nearby town of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is full of charm, tradition, good places to eat and the sandy beach, which goes on for miles, is superb. There is a warm family atmosphere both in town and at the hotel and we very much hope to go back soon and probably, like so many other people, again and again.

The title above is from my eight year-old daughter. She was treated like a VIP, as we were in fact. Two examples. First, this morning, they had no eggs left for breakfast and, when my daughter expressed her disappointment, a very kind member of staff, Salima, took her to the small chicken coop and they found three fresh eggs. She then brought her to see the horses, who are kept in wonderfully good conditions, with lots of room to roam. The staff is extremely friendly, the rooms are old fashioned and very authentic, there is a huge swimming pool and great outings with the horses. We definitely recommend this place and will come back soon.

Hotel de Cacharel is not a five star hotel. Hotel de Cacharel does not have a spa or night life or room service. Hotel de Cacharel does not have fancy guest rooms with only the best amenities. What Hotel de Cacharel does provide is a truly authentic Provencal Camargue experience that you will never forget. The rooms are very basic, but the ambience, serenity, sunrises, sunsets, the hearty breakfasts, the friendliness of the staff, the views out to the Camargue, the complete and absolute quiet that surrounds you (with the exception of some horses whinnying), the opportunity to saddle up and ride horses along the coast and experience the beauty of the Camargue, these are the things that make Hotel de Cacharel so special. We spent two nights here and absolutely loved everything about it.

Of course, there are more luxury hotels in Camargue, and evidently on the mediterranean coast. Yes, and also better, greater restaurants, places "in", places "fantastic", places "wonderful"... Let the people talk of commonplace places, all superb, splendid, and so on.|| HERE, in Cacharel, you will be in front of this land, in front of a true place, where everybody is attending to his own business or reading, or swimming, or walking around. And Nobody comes bothering you or speeding your time. HERE? hours are hours; time is your time. You could stay for weeks, everybody would let you at your own life... || And, you know, there are so many things to watch, to live with, in this place. The pool is beautiful, perfectly protected from wind, or from sun with great "auvent".... The bedrooms are extraordinarily change from routine and even hotels routine. ||I remember once, we arrive in winter, late enough. The rooms were cold enough. The light or the sun set was gorgeous; They really made everything possible to welcome us, to make us comfortable... and one half an hour later, our rooms were ready and warm, the bathroom even a little too much... They helped us to find a ( good) restaurant - they were closed as for it! And the breakfast next morning was excellent...|| Well the first time I came here, I was 3 years old; My parents had had a ride on Camargue horses... i had stayed in the rear of the car, sleeping my "siesta", and the people there, Denis Colomb de Daunan, I think, the great cineast, who made the mythic film " Crin Blanc" came to welcome me when I awoke... I remember the big big sand area, white with the summer sun,and that good man and his wife, who helped me to come out of my chid dreams, gave me a drink, and left me quiet, where I wanted to stay waiting for my parents. I looked and I watched all that special land, all that special atmosphere, and I never never could forget that remembrance of my third year. || Let me tell you: the place is THE SAME, more than 50 years later. Nothing can influence REAL places, REAL people; that's what you feel being one hour, one night, one week in CACHAREL. Mere happiness...

Forget the bad reviews. Most of what they write may be true, but that's why we love it. We have been here several times, it's rustic, simple, unique, in a magic location and no mass tourism which if you want perfect pools, plastic furniture, then keep driving. From the breakfast outside on a gravelled square to the 24 hour pool to long walks or horse rides, you know exactly where you are and why you are here. Just don't tell others, it's our secret.
