Hotel De Goudfazant

Weird vibe, industrial but too open, has only unfiltered wine but free parking! Rarity in Amsterdam. Food not too expensive but written down in a way you will atleast Google a couple of times. Service pretty good.

Mixed feelings about this place. Food was very good. Service was fast and friendly but as apersonal as it gets, completely no feeling of genuine involvment with the table. Might've just as well ordered from a tablet. Didn't check if the food was okay during dinner and just pushed the dishes though without asking if we want to continue to the next course. This ultimately resulted in having to wait for the bottle of wine while the main course was already there, and we were left with half a bottle of dry wine at the dessert. Wine list okay, but inconsistent and mostly balanced towards light fresh wines which limits gastronomic potential that's definitely there. You can taste all the wines sold per glass. Which was good because most wines were underwhelming or just too flawed, even for a natural wine. It's a shame because natural wine can get so good. Bit stuck in the unexciting dogmatic part of natural wines, like most of Amsterdam actually. Despite all this the vibe was okay. Must have been the food bringing smiles to the faces of the guest, because it definitely wasn't the involvement off the waiter. Maybe it wasn't her day. Would only go back for the amazing food.

Goudfazant is my go to restaurant that I think every restaurant in amsterdam should aim for; VERY reasonably priced, good food, good portions, spacious and very amsterdam in a way that is casual but gezellig in a way. Especially today I went with a big group, and the waitress (I forgot to ask her name but if you’re reading this and you handled a big 20+ group at the back with international crowd, thank youu for explaining all the dutch menus with great patience and with a smile - really really appreciate it!!!). We’ve had a great time, thank you!!

Institutional place. Everything I love in going out for food is resumed in these kind of places. Just go eyes blind and let the magic operate. Food and service are beyond expectations. See you soon.

This is a great example of a restaurant with a small, but well thought out menu. Had the king crab and the chicken - both were delicious. I will be coming back.

Even Google thinks this is a hotel, but despite the name it is a restaurant and bakery shop. restaurant is consistently good proper French inspired food. very much recommended for both small and bigger groups. great atmosphere and service.

However, the standout feature for me was the sheer size of the restaurant. Unfortunately, this spaciousness also contributed to the noise level, making it challenging to maintain focused conversations. In conclusion, Goudfazant in Amsterdam has its strengths with a warm ambiance, friendly staff, and good flavors. However, the relatively high prices for the portion sizes and the noise level might deter some diners from fully enjoying the experience.
