Historic hotel with lots of charm and excellent service. It's centrally located in historic downtown with several museums and presidential residences within walking distance. The staff are always friendly and courteous willing to please. The concertgie - Alvaro is very helpful and follows up to ensure you are enjoying your stay. Santiago at the front desk made our check in smooth and efficient. Most businesses in the area open around 7AM - 8AM and close by 7PM, since there isn't much to do after 7PM in the area it would be an improvement for hotel bar to stay open until 10PM. I would stay here again and recommend hotel for future travel.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel in Bogota. The location within the old city was perfect. We could walk almost anywhere within the old area. The hotel is large with lots of areas to lounge around in. While the waitress could not speak Spanish, I was able to obtain one menu in English. I wasn't that hungry, but what I got was fabulous! The staff was wonderful ... we ended up arriving in the very early morning, and we were able to get into our rooms. Nice working safe in the room and very comfy beds.

The hotel is very well located in the middle of the old city of Bogotá. This grand old lady provides a safe haven especially in the evenings. You can have a great dinner inside the hotel. Spa and pool also great although limited opening times and beware, closed on Monday. Nice little bar. Water pressure was low in the spacious rooms on the 7th floor (they were aware and working on it).

Old uncomfortable bed that hurt my back. It was advertised to have a down blanket but instead it was an old fleece blanket and some sheets. The old refrigerator in the room made noise. And the room didn't have good air flow so always felt warm and muggy. I booked here for comfort and was very disappointed. I do not recommend. The staff was too pretentious for real travelers.

Booked for comfort but it was a disappointment. Old uncomfortable bed that hurt my back. The refrigerator made annoying noises, there was no A/C or vents so the room was muggy. They advertised a down blanket but they had the most uncomfortable worn our fleece blankets that I could not use because it was too hot. The front desk was so pretentious and rude. It was my last stay in Colombia, I tried for something nicer but it was my worst stay. Do not recommend.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Hotel de la Ópera in Bogotá, and what made it extra special was the outstanding service we received from the staff — especially Santiago and Álvaro. From the moment we arrived, Santiago welcomed us with professionalism, making our check-in process smooth and stress-free. Álvaro went above and beyond throughout our visit. He was always attentive to our needs — from organizing airport transportation to helping us manage all our luggage with such care and patience. His genuine desire to help made us feel incredibly well taken care of. It’s rare to find a hotel where the service feels this personal and sincere. Thank you, Santiago and Álvaro, for making our stay unforgettable.

This is a pleasant hotel in a good central location. It probably didn’t live up to the high expectations promised by the website but I’d still stay again and would recommend it.||Communication in the days leading up to the stay, regarding an airport transfer was a nightmare, with emails not being responded to and I had to make regular phone calls to check things were in order. Fortunately service once I arrived was much better. The hotel is on a quiet pedestrianised street, just a few steps away from the main square and it remained a peaceful retreat throughout my stay.||The old style building is a bit of a maze to navigate at first but it certainly oozes history with a number of magnificent spaces. My room was on the 7th floor and overlooked the roof tops leading to the main square. This was a brilliant view and incredible at sunset. The room was spacious and comfortable, although I never could get the air-conditioning to work. Electric sockets were beside the bed, there was no noise during the night and the large bed was comfortable. ||The bathroom was equally as spacious but wasn’t quite at the same level as the rest of the room - the bath was certainly getting old, with the shower being overhead, there was only one towel, and despite there being lots of amenities provided the slippers were awful quality.||The breakfast buffet was a basic affair and there didn’t seem to be any option for hot cooked dishes when I visited. But there were local items and the juices were nice. The area serves as the evening restaurant which had good service and a high-end range of items on the menu. The prawns and pineapple was a large portion, uniquely presented, and it had a lovely vibe. There’s also a bar area but it was shut on the Saturday evening which was a shame.||Overall it was a peaceful and relaxing hotel in a prime location, which also offered good value. It didn’t feel quite up to the five-star standard claimed but if set your expectations accordingly I’d recommend.

So many things to talk about this hotel - Very slow response to the message via booking.com. We asked whether we should pay the airport transfer driver in USD or Cpeso because they quote us back in both currency. Someone response next day after arriving. - Tried to connect to wifi but couldn't get it to work. Turned out they missed spell the surname (need room no., surname and email for connecting) even though they clearly have a correct spelling on booking.com - Lack of privacy in the room, especially bathroom because if you don't close window or curtain, someone from opposite building will see you. So even you turn the lights on it still make the room dark and feel confined. - Decided to try pool and spa. The spa was good and warm but you had to asked staff to turn it on every time. The switch is outside. The pool was not practical for swimming. It was too small and too warm. Oh wanted to hop into sauna. Open the sauna door was fine, but once you want to close it the metal handle and frame was so hot. It almost burned my hand. I showed the staff what happened she nodded and then back to their phone. There was a water container with plastic cups next to the pool and directly in front of reception. But if you want to drink water, forget it because it had never been filled all 4 days I was there. There were used plastic cups scattered around some on the floor and on the table, but staff were too busy with their phone to do anything else. - Once shower, the bathroom floor was soaking wet - Second day we came back to rest early afternoon, but there was a function in the middle courtyard. We could clearly hear people talking, plate and cutlery noise. So we had to suck it up till 3pm. The room door has zero sound proof. - there were also some minor things like room attendant gave wrong type of coffee pouch for the coffee machine, never replace another set of bath foam, we put towels for them to replace after 2 days of use but they fold them back pretend it was a new one. I knew because it was stll a little wet. - Breakfast was average. - $19 for a shaving kit. What a joke!!! So bottom line : only good thing was location. But if you are so desperate for a useless pool, please go for it. There are much better options out there in close walking distance to square and gold museum.
