France’s Cap Ferret Is Far More Than the ‘French Hamptons’ | Condé Nast Traveler

"In the village of L’Herbe, Hôtel de la Plage — set in a former 19th‑century pine‑resin workers’ dormitory and recently reopened by two Bordeaux restaurateurs — has a striking red‑and‑cream gabled exterior, 12 rooms decorated in bright, fruity colours and an in‑house café that spills onto outdoor tables serving veal chops, sirloin steaks and a seasonal‑vegetable lasagne." - Johny Pitts

Great location. Really friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. The bar / restaurant area has a lovely atmosphere. Reading some of the negative reviews on here makes me wonder what people are expecting for such a reasonably priced hotel. The Savoy it is not and neither does it pretend to be. Will definitely stay again if we are lucky enough to be able to get a room.

Beautiful hotel and location. The room was stylish and comfortable (although bit small for the price) and the restaurant and bar had been renovated to a really high standard. Overall a magical place. The staff however were abysmal. Very poor and unfriendly service, no smiles, no look of recognition or welcome for a hotel guest. Treated as a stranger and often ignored without apology…. having to go get your own drinks from the bar or be faced with stony, disinterested faces. Seemed more interested in hanging out with the staff and having a joke with their friends rather than serving the customers. When some of the staff finished their shift however, they were served beers within 2 minutes and a lot of loud chatting and laughing ensued. All while customers were ignored at the bar, waiting to pay or order their drinks. The two brown haired ladies on reception and a lady on the bar with a bob were the exception and really fantastic. Always welcoming, friendly and professional. You should get rid of the rest as they are letting a beautiful place down. Sorry to say we wouldn’t come back.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The entire staff really went above and beyond with their service. They were overly helpful, friendly, and kind. We truly felt at home during our stay. The rooms are beautifully decorated with attention to detail down the light switches and all fixtures. The burger at the restaurant was the best I've ever had. I would come back here over and over again. Thanks to the whole team for such a lovely experience.

We have stayed at the Hotel De La Plage twice this summer. It’s so well positioned next to the beach, the rooms are small but perfectly formed, decorated with seaside vibe decor. The restaurant is also excellent and they have a great selection of drinks too. It has a lovely atmosphere. The reception staff are very helpful, in particular, Paulina was above and beyond. They assisted with restaurant recommendations and bookings plus taxis. If I could make any improvements, I would add a full length mirror to the bedrooms, and perhaps speed up the service a little as it was very slow at times, however, it was the height of the season, All in all we had a wonderful time and we absolutely would revisit again.

We stayed here in July. It's a little piece of French seaside paradise. Newly renovated with a beachy chic vibe. Friendly staff who went above and beyond, helped us rent bikes, etc. We will return!!!

In the past the place to be - good food and drinks in a great setting. Now alas serviced by surly faced teenagers disinterested in customer service and allergic to doing business. Absurd rules around seating, timings etc. Avoid

We tried to have breakfast here but it was impossible - no one served us after 30 minutes of waiting and complained to other guests about our nationality. Maybe take a lesson in hospitality if you are in this business.

Very bad service, 7 waiters passed us in a half empty restaurant, nobody has even asked if we want something. The place looks nice but next door you have multiple oyster places which are worth to visit
