Hotel De La Porte Saint Malo

From the moment I contacted Kevin to arrange a booking until my husband and I departed the hotel after a 4 night stay in July 2025, we were so impressed with the friendliness of all of the staff and their willingness to make our stay so memorable. We chose a room with our own private patio and it was lovely, with a window overlooking a second patio for guests that was filled with flowers. We also opted to have breakfast each morning, which was a delicious way to start each day. The hotel is located just outside the walled city and provided easy access to the river and to many shops and restaurants, making it perfect for local exploring/dining. Dinan itself is set in beautiful countryside with easy access to the coast. All in all it was one pf the best boutique hotels we have ever stayed in and we would certainly highly recommend it.

What a lovely hotel which is only a 200m walk to the walled town. Very comfortable with exquisite modern design, a delicious breakfast and faultless processes. What thoughtful people; nothing was too much trouble. My partner is currently on crutches so they upgraded us to a garden room. Thank you!

I had two nights in this historical hotel. Kevin, the owner, was there to welcome me and help with any queries I had. The garden was a tranquil spot to while away an hour. This accommodation was booked through my cycle tour and it was on par all the beautiful places I stayed around Brittany.

We had an excellent two night stay in Dinan. The staff is extremely pleasant and beyond helpful. The hotel is in a great location just outside the city center. The breakfast was very good. The family room was perfect for our family of four. It was clean and very charming. If you have mobility issues the stairs at this hotel may be a problem for you. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again if we return to Dinan.

Perfectly situated just outside the medieval ramparts, this family run hotel oozes charm and character. The staff were attentive and very informative. Clean, well presented rooms. Free roadside parking alongside the hotel, or small car-park opposite was an added bonus. Would definitely recommend!

Very friendly and helpful welcome to us on our recent stay in Dinan. Very good, fresh, breakfast. The room was very clean and comfortable. The whole hotel is beautifully maintained and is a short 5 minute walk to the historic town center of Dinan. There is also a convenient free car park next to the hotel. The whole family couldn't have done more to make our stay more comfortable.

Stayed here for two nights. Staff very friendly and helpful, they speak English too. Rooms not huge but just what you need and clean. Breakfast good with plenty of things to choose from,including some home made items like caramel! I was here on a bicycle trip; they have separate storage for your bike

I had a wonderful stay at the Hotel de La Porte Saint-Malo this September. On arrival we were warmly greeted before the member of staff took hold of our suitcases and showed us to our room. Great service! The room was very reasonably priced and good value for money. Nothing fancy, but it was exactly what we needed (ie. cheap, good and close to town). The front desk was very helpful in giving us recommendations for restaurants within the walled city and other information about Dinan. The location is perfect - just a stone's throw away from the center and its many restaurants and activities. I absolutely recommend the hotel's breakfast that includes croissants, bread, yoghurts, fruit and homemade jam. While I was there I was lucky enough to try the grapefruit jam (a revelation!) and a reine claude plum jam.
