Hotel De La Poste D'avallon

We stayed at the Hotel De La Poste on our way down to the South of France. We stayed just one night which was a shame because this is a really stunning place. The room was so lovely, really spacious bathroom, spotlessly clean and with crisp white bed linen. The reception staff were faultless, as was the talented bar tender who mixed my husband 2 amazing cocktails - a Negroni and a Jungle Bird which he says he has now been converted too! The breakfast was simple, high quality and in a beautiful room, however I believe you can sit outside if preferred.|The whole ambience was one of calm, peaceful class. Just perfect, thank you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were thrilled with the hotel from the very beginning. It's beautiful and decorated with great attention to detail. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast delicious.|I would also like to particularly highlight the friendly service and the owner of the hotel, Julian, who personally looks after the guests and is available to answer questions and provide tips.|There's a spacious parking lot behind the hotel. The location is also very good, right in the center, surrounded by many restaurants and shops. The town of Avallon and the hotel are absolutely worth seeing. We would have loved to stay longer.

I went there in July 2025 with my mother and we had an amazing time. From the cocktails we had the first night with arrived. Made with fresh and unique ingredients from the region, I just want to go back and drink the abricot français. Best drink I ever had! We ordered a salad which was colorful and delicious. For dessert a strawberry tart. From beginning to end, we enjoyed every minute. The decoration of the bar is a must see as well, Mr. Cohen did an amazing job with a lot of taste. The second day, we had first breakfast at the hotel and we had two options. We went with the lighter version the continental breakfast as we had made reservation for lunch at their restaurant, “ le 1815”. For breakfast we had a basket with delicious French pastries, croissants and pain au chocolat. We also had home made yogurt, home made jams with fresh bread as well as mini crepes. My mum had a tea, they had a lot of selections and I had coffee. They have this really nice coffee machine in the breakfast room where you can choose the coffee you want. After that, my mother and I, we went to visit Mr. Cohen antiques stores, a must see. For lunch, we were back at the hotel to eat at their 1815 restaurant and my mother had the vegetarian menu and I had the fish à la carte. Everything was outstanding! You have to try the Kir crémant so good! Overall, this is a little gem. We will definitely go back as there is so much more to visit in this region and it’s only 2h30 from Paris by train.

Our party only popped in for evening drinks on our way back,we found that the ambiance was excellent and all the staff were very professional. Our drinks were prepared with care and precision, and tasted wonderful, but please don’t take my word come and see for yourselves.

What a terrific place. The history, the care in the details, the food. Comfortable modern rooms. A must stay!

Hotel DE LA POSTE review When you are touring, you always hope to find yourself in a situation like this. Coming to the Hotel de La Poste in Avallon was maybe the best we've in 50 years of traveling. Never have we had a hotel experience that over delivered like this one. The Hotel de la Poste is simply perfect. Set in the lovely town of Avallon, the hotel's facade and courtyard are lovely. The rooms are sweet, with good modern bathrooms. The staff is friendly and helpful. And the restaurant is fabulous! We're from New York and love food. Everything about our dinner was wonderful. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We don't understand why the restaurant isn't Michelin starred. And to add to it, the petit dejeuner was absolutely splendid. We can"t give the Hotel de la Poste and Restaurant 1815 a higher recommendation. The town, the hotel, the restaurant...a wonderful, affordable combination. Do yourself a favor and book a weekend there.

We really enjoyed our three nights at La Poste, especially the central location, delightful staff and quirky knick-knacks everywhere. We loved our bedroom with its large bathroom and walk-in shower. The food was excellent and we particularly enjoyed our night cap of home-made limoncello!
