This town hotel is perfectly located for Tournon's restaurants and also an easy walk across the footbridge to Tain L'Hermitage. Although our room was ' French Restoration-style' and a lovely, slightly austere, suite with the most beautiful (though squeaky) floor, a grand bathtub too. The larger part of the hotel is reminiscent of a Mallorcan villa in design - which if you know the vernacular - is perfect. The breakfast terrace is walled and leads up to the garden and pool area. It is absolutely gorgeous up there and I spent time painting, observing birds - and swimming. Everything is well-kept and well-tended, but there is history there - so expect slightly steep and uneven steps to get up to the pool area - and a touch of rusticity, which simply adds to the charm. The hotel is a bit tucked away, but well worth seeking out. At any turn you might see a relic of bygone days, such as a porcelain sink from the early 1800s etc. A warm welcome is assured.
