Hôtel de l'Amphithéâtre

This hotel was chosen by Naturetrek (for whom I am a guide) as a result of the usual hotel being refurbished. Whilst it is unusual for Naturetrek to place its clients in a town centre location, we and our clients were delighted with this beautiful hotel. It is ideally placed for a walk around the sights and as others have said, the building itself has been tastefully restored. We had a few challenges getting around the town but the staff were brilliant in helping us - even phoning ahead on one occasion to let a local restaurant know we were running late! Traditional French breakfast was served in a relaxing but efficient manner in a lovely, airy breakfast room. If I get to lead this tour again, I'd very much look forward to staying at this hotel.

Nicely located hotel located in a trio of ancient houses. This is good for the charm and the general atmosphere, a bit less to have convenient modern amenities and large rooms but in our case we were upgraded and our stay was very comfortable. Excellent front desk staff, very quiet and pretty good bed for a slightly high price. Recommendable for a short stay.

The location and the price are the best part of this hotel. The parking, while very affordable, was difficult to find and not as easy to get to and from despite the description. It may only be a ten minute walk, but it is uphill, which for older folks is not easy. I suggest the hotel re-explain how to find the parking as well as giving some kind of drop off option for luggage. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. I am over 60 and could not carry up a big suitcase two flights of stairs. The hotel clerk did this for me and I greatly appreciated his kindness. The breakfast was adequate and served its purpose. Surprisingly, the hotel is decorated very nicely, but the rooms could use an upgrade. All in all, the hotel for one night is doable, i might look elsewhere for longer stays.

Great place right next to the Arena and Forum. Not expensive by 2024 standards. Nice people working there. A dignified and very French breakfast served on site for 15€ each, just do it. Quirky, but modern art on the walls by 2Fak (look him up). Room was nice, with a very modern bathroom. Need was good. Cleaners use a bit too much smelly product when cleaning, but hey, everyone has a different tolerance for smells. Mine is very low. All in all, I'd definitely stay there again.

The hotel and experience was magical! We hope to visit again very soon! Thank you for your hospitality and unique beautiful stay.

What a wonderful find and a good value! With an ideal location for all there is to see in Arles, we chose very well. The staff was welcoming and efficient. The room was extremely comfortable and the whole hotel's decor was like a work of art. We were so happy we chose to have the savory breakfast as it was plentiful, delicious, and nicely served. We will stay here again when we return to Arles.

It is such an amazing building and we would like to book our groups here but breakfast is a non starter. You can have an option of a croissant/pain au raison with jam, with a choice of apple sauce or fromage blanc but not both. If you want an egg, you can only have it with bread and no croissant .No fruit offered. You are also served individually so it is a long wait if you happen to arrive like we did when they just started to serve a table of 6 and there were then 4 more people before us.We trialed with two rooms and we had 6 other rooms at another hotel, whilst the rooms at the other hotel may not be as full of character as these, they all got a good breakfast which is key for groups of walkers and cyclists.

Really enjoyed our one night stay here. Beautiful stylish hotel , very comfortable room. Will stay longer next time.

Great location, great staff, and great value. We walked to all the tourist sites, restaurants, and center of town. Charming old town with narrow winding streets. If you are looking for an Intercontinental or Hilton, look elseware. Staff is great, making you feel welcome. Beautiful old-world lobby with great decor and beamed ceilings. Rooms are basic with high ceilings, but have everything you may need. Airconditioning worked very well. Plenty of hot water and good shower. Its a great value for the price. We had 2 rooms and we definitely recommend this hotel.

I was really disappointed on arriving at this hotel, and am still surprised that it is rated so highly on TripAdvisor and was recommended in the Lonely Planet travel guide. The place is, quite frankly, a dump. It was easily the worst hotel that I stayed in during my two-week trip to France. For one thing, there's no parking at the hotel and it's very difficult to get to. You have to park in a parking garage that's about a ten-minute walk away, then drag your bags up winding streets that climb higher up the hill until you finally reach the hotel. Then the ultimate disappointment: no elevator. We had to drag our bags up three flights of narrow stairs. By the time we got to the room, we were sweaty and exhausted. Then, there's the room itself. It was mostly brown, clearly old and worn, with a brown carpet and dusty corners. The cheap, thin towels had mysterious yellow stains on them. The wifi didn't work, and the whole place just felt run-down. And then our breakfast. We went to the breakfast room and had to wait ten minutes before anyone helped us. When they finally did, they brought a disappointing assortment of mediocre food. There was no choice whatsoever about what we were served, and none of it was very good. I'm definitely never coming back to this hotel, and I may even write to Lonely Planet to complain that they recommended it. It was so disappointing and the real lowlight of our trip.

The hotel is centrally located in the old town. It has maintained the historic exterior but has added a contemporary touch to the beautiful original structures on the inside. The staff was very welcoming and consistently helpful. Our room was spacious, recently renovated, and well appointed. Even though traffic is limited in this part of town, first floor rooms can occasionally let in street noise. Breakfast is optional but convenient in a city where early morning breakfast options were surprisingly scarce. Overall pricing was reasonable. We were happy with our stay and recommend the beautiful Hôtel de l'Amphithéâtre and its fine staff.

Excellent location in the old city. Very close to many of the sites as well as a close walk to many restaurants and shops. The hotel is charming and the staff very helpful and delightful. The hotel is located in an old building but is nicely appointed inside. The room was clean and comfortable and the décor was fun. I would defiantly stay here if I come back to Arles.
