Fantastic location to stroll around in the city. Must contact beforehand to get to the hotel by car in order to unload luggage. Friendly and helpful staff. Spacious rooms. Breakfast had little choices and baked pastries and boiled eggs were "cold" as if they were prepared. Otherwise it was quite fair. Have to mention that most of the rooms were only accessible via staircase.

Excellent location but leave car in public car park nearby. Beautiful building with great interiors. Our citadine room was very small, also bathroom which was a bit tired with really small shower. Very quiet and very good breakfast. Reception staff friendly. Overall average value for money.

Room decent for the price. Common areas beautiful. Fantastic location. Reception helpful. Breakfast service abysmal. No clean tables, eggs/bacon gone by 9:30. Not worth 15 euros!

Hotel ideally located for visiting the historic centre of Arles. Overnight parking in nearby multi storey which is discounted at the hotel. Staff very helpful and efficient. Both receptionists we encountered spoke very good English. We had booked the suite that had its own balcony. Very good sized room with good air conditioning.

We booked this hotel online and were pre-warned about the parking restrictions when arriving on Market day. Instructions to enter the car park were good. However the walk from the car park when laden with suitcases on a hot day is far from easy! We found the hotel ok, were informed about the price of breakfast which we accepted, and were directed to the stairs to access our second floor room. No lift access, no offer of help with our cases, and a narrow winding stairway to the second floor which was a challenge for us older folk. ||The hotel lobby and sitting area is very nice, but they are really missing a trick by not offering a decent bar service. The bedroom’s decor was disappointingly dated. I appreciate it’s an old hotel but the room’s decor really needs modernising and the bedding was of poor quality. Air conditioning was effective though.||Breakfast was adequate and the setting was nice. ||The hotel is very well situated being a stone’s throw from the Roman amphitheatre.||The bill for parking was more than we’d expected although we were assured that staying at the hotel afforded us a discount on the regular parking rate. ||All in all a pleasant enough stay but could be improved with a decent bar service, more helpful staff and a pre-warning about the stairs!

In our travels through beautiful France, where we moved to the south this spring, we arrived in Arles looking for a central hotel for the night. We were attracted in our internet searches by Hotel De L’Amphiteatre. The architectural novelty and the unitary, eclectic, visually pleasing decor, the presence of contrasts in every aspect of the arrangement, old and new, elegant and simple, their unique harmonization, directed our steps directly to the reception, without a prior phone call. In addition to the fact that we did not have a reservation made in advance, but simply set up directly at the reception, we were welcomed with great warmth and friendliness, immediately offering us two cool, spacious rooms, equipped with everything necessary for a hotel of this category. The parking lot is very close and very safe, next to the park, where the police station is located, despite everything that various tourists describe here, it is worth a few steps towards the hotel where you will be compensated by the chic atmosphere of the hotel and a pleasant, kind staff, always willing to support you for accommodation or to indicate important points to visit around the location. An additional reason, and perhaps the most important for me personally, that happened in this hotel, was the fact that I forgot a suitcase in the hotel lobby (with very important things), which the staff supported me with all the necessary information for its recovery. I will return whenever I have the opportunity to this beautiful hotel, unique and full of beautiful people and I will also recommend it wholeheartedly to all friends and visitors who want to step foot in it.

Opera fans will be spoilt, at breakfast, noon and night, as the communal spaces will rejoice to beautiful arias. The lounge areas have art books and other items of interest to be perused. However, beware of restaurant cards, they are not places recommended by the hotel. A very old character hotel with charm, though the room I was allotted needed some TLC, small and the wooden chair was not the most comfortable I have ever sat on. The a/c was a bit noisy and the bathroom had some minor defects. The bed allowed for a comfortable night's sleep. A safe, a frig, plus mineral waters are provided. A quiet, discreet breakfast setting was fine. The gentlemen staff were attentive, interested and sociable to my needs.

I can't say enough about the warm welcome we received, the definition of hospitality. We still talk about the pastry shop where you sent us; and the cheese shop you recommended was also excellent. You helped us make reservations at two restaurants and showed us how to get around your lovely city. The location couldn't be beat, either--within range of the train station but also near restaurants and other places of interest. The room, too, was comfortable and quiet. Just a lovely stay.

Yelp
Great location, great staff, and great value. We walked to all the tourist sites, restaurants, and center of town. Charming old town with narrow winding streets. If you are looking for an Intercontinental or Hilton, look elseware. Staff is great, making you feel welcome. Beautiful old-world lobby with great decor and beamed ceilings. Rooms are basic with high ceilings, but have everything you may need. Airconditioning worked very well. Plenty of hot water and good shower. Its a great value for the price. We had 2 rooms and we definitely recommend this hotel.

Yelp
I was really disappointed on arriving at this hotel, and am still surprised that it is rated so highly on TripAdvisor and was recommended in the Lonely Planet travel guide. The place is, quite frankly, a dump. It was easily the worst hotel that I stayed in during my two-week trip to France. For one thing, there's no parking at the hotel and it's very difficult to get to. You have to park in a parking garage that's about a ten-minute walk away, then drag your bags up winding streets that climb higher up the hill until you finally reach the hotel. Then the ultimate disappointment: no elevator. We had to drag our bags up three flights of narrow stairs. By the time we got to the room, we were sweaty and exhausted. Then, there's the room itself. It was mostly brown, clearly old and worn, with a brown carpet and dusty corners. The cheap, thin towels had mysterious yellow stains on them. The wifi didn't work, and the whole place just felt run-down. And then our breakfast. We went to the breakfast room and had to wait ten minutes before anyone helped us. When they finally did, they brought a disappointing assortment of mediocre food. There was no choice whatsoever about what we were served, and none of it was very good. I'm definitely never coming back to this hotel, and I may even write to Lonely Planet to complain that they recommended it. It was so disappointing and the real lowlight of our trip.

Yelp
The hotel is centrally located in the old town. It has maintained the historic exterior but has added a contemporary touch to the beautiful original structures on the inside. The staff was very welcoming and consistently helpful. Our room was spacious, recently renovated, and well appointed. Even though traffic is limited in this part of town, first floor rooms can occasionally let in street noise. Breakfast is optional but convenient in a city where early morning breakfast options were surprisingly scarce. Overall pricing was reasonable. We were happy with our stay and recommend the beautiful Hôtel de l'Amphithéâtre and its fine staff.

Yelp
Excellent location in the old city. Very close to many of the sites as well as a close walk to many restaurants and shops. The hotel is charming and the staff very helpful and delightful. The hotel is located in an old building but is nicely appointed inside. The room was clean and comfortable and the décor was fun. I would defiantly stay here if I come back to Arles.
