Located on the Plaza de l’Horloge, close to all the main attractions in Avignon. We could walk to both the Papal Palace and the historic bridge with ease. It was close to major shops and the tourist shopping. |The restaurants were very close with many to choose from. |The hotel is over a number of buildings which makes navigating it interesting. If you do not like stairs and cannot carry your luggage up and down stairs this is not the place for you. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable with good quality linen and towels. There was room for your luggage and plenty of cupboard space if needed as well as a safe. |Breakfast was basic, although there was eggs and bacon. |Reception was uninterested with barely acknowledging guests. We were given a map after requesting directions only to realise it was in French. We had to find an English version at the tourist centre. There were no porters or assistance with bags. |Bags were left in the foyer and not secured.

We had very enjoyable stay at this hotel, which is situated in a convenient, central location (10-12 minute flat walk from Avignon Centre train station). A warm welcome greeted us on arrival and we found all the staff we met very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable, as was the bed. A kettle, tea and coffee were available in the room and a good breakfast was provided. The shower was over the bath and water pressure was average but OK; none of this was an issue for us. We requested and were given a room not facing the main square; this was a quiet location. We would certainly use this hotel again if returning to Avignon.

Google
Superb location for this quaint hotel. The room was beautiful and cosy, the staff was kind, and the breakfasts are great. You can walk all around in nice little streets and discover wonderful restaurants nearby. It is a very nice place to stay, affordable, if you are in Avignon and want to visit the vineyards around. Thank you to the team for a nice stay!

Google
Really enjoyable 6 night stay in the centrally located hotel. The reception fully staffed and they were most helpful. |The breakfast was sumptuous with a wide continental choice and a good range of cooked food as well, abundant strong coffee to get you going for the day! |Our ensuite bedroom, on the fourth floor was well equipped and comfortable. Despite the central location the modern double glazed windows eliminated any noise from the nearby restaurants. |Whilst there is no bar or restaurant, there are a selection of well furnished public rooms, to read or meet up in.|I would say that L'Horloge is not suitable to anyone with limited mobility, there is just a small lift which is busy at peak times, we mainly used the stairs.

Stayed 3 nights here in the suite on the 3rd floor. While not the most beautifully decorated suite I stayed in, I gave the room 5 stars because I valued the comfort of the room, cleanliness, thoughtful amenities that were lacking in the last suite I stayed in. Lots of little sitting areas on each foor. Location cannot be beat! Breakfast was wonderful with an array of food for any taste. Ecxeptional value. Would 100% stay hete again.

Google
A great hotel right in the heart of the city in a historic building. A great location for exploring the area although your car has to be parked off-site as the city center is pedestrians only. The building is old and has a few more corridors and oddly placed stairs which adds to the charm of the hotel, the rooms are a bit smaller but nicely updated, the staff very friendly and helpful.

Google
The hotel is in the centre of Avignon and so great for exploring. We had a junior suite which we found large enough. The staff were super helpful and friendly, nothing too much trouble. Our room faced onto the square but with the windows closed and the air conditioning on we weren't disturbed at all. In fact the beds are very comfortable and we slept very well. We loved that the hotel had a chilled water fountain. Breakfast was fine. They do have lots of groups but that didn't worry us at all.

Google
Fantastic value for money! Perfect location for walking around Avignon and being next to beautiful plazas and buildings. The staff were super helpful and welcoming, and the room was incredibly comfortable. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
Very nice hotel, quiet, great breakfast, lovely staff, and walkable. It's worth every euro!

Yelp
Poor front desk service, difficult to get to room with luggage, stairs to climb after getting off the elevator. Additional stairs on each floor, they are NOT senior friendly!!! Have not tried the food, but probably won't spend another dime/Euro here anyway ,

Yelp
Charming, super clean, great location in Avignon where there is a theater festival every July.

Yelp
Location, Location, Location. Hotel de l'Horloge has location in spades. It's in the heart of all of the sites and eating places in Avignon. It's steps away from the Pope's Palace and it's right smack by the square. It can be noisy at times but it's where the action seems to be. Our room by European standards was alright but to someone who is used to American hotels, I felt a bit cramped. It seems like the king size bed took up the whole space. The floors are also a bit funky. There are steps within steps in any given floor to get to any of the rooms. The bed comfort was adequate. As someone said before it can use some upgrading. The staff here are also very very helpful. There was a railway strike when we were in France and Michael at the front desk went out of his way to find us alternative transportation since our original train booking was canceled and it seems every other scheduled trains to Marseille (our next destination) was canceled. As to the the breakfast, it was pretty good. We had the usual European cold cuts, fruits and croissants and whole slew of other bread choices. Coffee on the other hand was just bleh. I could never figure out how to use their espresso and cappuccino maker so I made do without. If we are ever in Avignon again, I would come back and stay here again despite the cramp space.

Yelp
Pros: Ideal location in the center of Avignon. In a very old, historic charming building. Air conditioner worked well during the heat wave in June. The staff were friendly. Cons: We paid for a mid range room, not the cheapest and not the most expensive- but the room was very tight and claustrophobic. Outdated rooms, little dusty. We felt as though there may be a mold issue. Breakfast was expensive. We elected to go to a nice pastry shop next door instead. Next time we may try Mercure hotel.

Yelp
This hotel is in a great location, just off the main square in the heart of town. We walked from the train station, which was around 10 minutes. Our room was very small but room sizes do vary. The staff was very welcoming at check-in, and friendly throughout our visit. The hotel looked a little tired, but was generally in good condition. There are many twists and turns, stairs up and down, as this is an old building. The Hôtel de l'Horloge was full, likely because it is a good value for the area.

Yelp
This was a very pleasant hotel. We booked 3 nights then had to add a 4th night with a separate reservation and they were able to work with us so we didn't have to change rooms. The room was nice but just a little small. I thought the bed was too soft but my wife liked it. Location is awesome. Tons of stuff within a block. A little loud at night with the window open because it was warm in the room. The front desk was extremely helpful. We had to park in the underground garage at about 8€ a day. Breakfast was slightly above average (croissants were awesome).

Yelp
We enjoyed a pleasant stay at this hotel. The location is very close to the Pope's Palace & other amazing historic locations. You are steps away from great shopping, plenty of restaurants, museums & the opera. There is an area across from the side of the hotel with a number of restaurants all providing outside seating. It was our first stop after arriving and we enjoyed cool drinks while watching the locals & tourists stroll by. The room was spacious by European standards. We had two twin beds. There was also a small sleeper sofa, a lounge chair & a small desk with a flat panel TV we never turned on. The bathroom was also large with plenty of room to lay out your toiletries. The provided soaps & lotions were a high quality. The staff is helpful and eager to assist with calling a taxi, helping with tours, etc. Breakfast is served in the morning and it was wonderful! Creamy scrambled eggs, pancakes, yogurt, pastries & brioche bread, fresh fruits, a selection of cheeses & charcuterie, along with steaming pots of coffee & milk. It is a perfect way to start the day. The only downside is the noise. It made it very difficult to get to sleep. We had the windows open because the room was warm & in April their air conditioning is not on. With the windows open the temperature was just fine + we liked the fresh air. However, those same restaurants nearby providing outside seating, means there are people out partying until 1 or 2 in the morning. Lots of yelling, screaming, loud motorcycles & car doors slamming means you should invest in some good ear plugs if you plan to stay here.

Yelp
Hotel de l'Horlage was great as it was right in the heart of the l'Horlage center near the Pope's Palace. We could literally walk out of our hotel and within a few feet be at the Pope's Palace OR be in the heart of the shopping district which for me, sounds just about perfect. The staff was fantastic! The concierge was extremely helpful in giving us recommendations on places to see and eat. He even provided recommendations on places he himself goes to which I always appreciate that kind of recommendation vs. a touristy recommendation. The rooms are so-so and a little bit outdated but again, it's a trade off with the location you are getting.

Yelp
Absolutely a great hotel! The rooms were spacious, the pillows were comfy, they provided all sorts of great soap and even bath salts! The continental breakfast is huge and to die for with fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit, a large selection of coffee flavors, etc. It had a good central location with many nearby restaurants and cafes, and of course the Pope's palace! Would definitely recommend and return!

Yelp
This hotel was awesome! Our room was very spacious with a large terrace and great view of the Palace. The staff was very friendly -- one staff member went out of his way to help us book a reservation at a restaurant down the street that would accommodate our plant-based diet. :)

Yelp
Room was small but cozy. Great balcony and view on the 5th floor. Friendly staff and centrally located.
