Hôtel de l'Image (Saint Remy de Provence, French Riviera / Provence) 2 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Once the town’s cinema and music hall, Hotel de l'Image has evolved into a gallery, a photography workshop, and a laboratory—and now, the newest addition, a 32-room hotel. The location is quite obviously inspiring and photogenic—St. Rémy de Provence is, as they say, a stone’s throw from the landscapes that inspired Van Gogh (yes, we know he wasn’t a photographer, but the point still stands). And the same can be said for the hotel, a beautiful exercise in a sort of rustic country minimalism, with lots of blonde wood and glasswork and a refreshing absence of antique anything." - Tablet Hotels

Google
Loved the location and staff, lovely people and very helpful. The basic rooms were just that, basic, comfortable but not up to any 4 star rating in my experience. Spent the last two nights of a four night stay in an upgraded room, comfortable and roomy but still a stretch to say four stars. Still, I would recomend this hotel, the location and staff are first rate.

This hotel seemed like it once was a very nice hotel, but it appeared to be either understaffed or not well taken care of. The rooms were nothing special, and there was a lingering smell of sewage in the room, maybe from disuse. I would have rated it lower, but the front staff was so friendly and so very helpful. The location was great with very easy walking to the towns attractions. The breakfast was the typical breakfast with Baggetts, croissants, other bread, cheeses, meats, and fruits.

This is a very comfortable hotel on a main street in St. Remy de Provence ,easily accessible, with many onsite amenities but also right across the street from great restaurants and shops . Excellent walking in the area. We had a spacious room that felt more like a small apartment. Very quiet. Helpful staff. Great breakfast in the morning, bar services in the evening. Onsite restaurant.

Amazing location, very friendly staff, beautiful grounds. The rooms are quote small and outdated, but that wouldn't have been an problem if it weren't for the maintenance issues. Seems like there are some management issues here and it's unfortunate because it is a lovely place with charming people.

Google
The best location. Out the door and straight into St Remy. Staff are very nice, friendly and efficient. Down side it all looks a little unloved and could really do with a revamp

A very nice hotel in the center of St Rémy with tourist sights and restaurants within walking distance. The large garden behind the hotel are well maintained and has a English garden style maze/labyrinth. A very positive experience. If you are there on a Wednesday walk to the awesome farmer’s market.

Needs some upgrades...especially AC. Had a fan running and called it AC. Keeping the drapes shut and lights off helped a bit. Housekeeping kept leaving drapes open and all he lights on., even though I asked them not to. I am 5'0" and got put in the only room with a tub/shower. I nearly fell getting in and asked to be moved. They lied and told me all the rooms were the same. I checked with 4 people traveling with me with rooms near mine. They ALL had walk-in showers. I switched with one.

Google
This hotels website is misleading. The entire place including the garden is unloved and no maintenance to many things in months/ years. Would not recommend for a romantic break.

Yelp
Beautifully restored landmark. Used to be a police station and then a cinema before becoming a hotel. You will see a lot of cinematic decorative touches throughout. Comfortable grounds and pool. Breakfast had many great options. Room was cozy but had some problems. AC was not sufficient for us or any of the guests we spoke with. That's how we learned you could ask for a fan. We did, and that helped a bit, but rooms lack plugs so you have to go without mini-fridge for the fan. Shower is tight and there is no way to control water from pooling outside of the shower. While staff were friendly and overall experience was positive, I would not return during summer months.

Yelp
If 3.5 stars were an option, I'd probably have gone with that, but given the limitations, I rounded up to 4. I say this only because there's so much that I loved about this charming hotel, with one huge exception. Let me start with the good. First, L'Image is located just steps away from an absurd amount of great restaurants, shops, and sights. The hotel itself was once an old theater and they've done a great job incorporating the property's history into the decor. The staff was beyond friendly and super attentive. We didn't have a chance to have dinner here because most nights the dining room was fully reserved for private parties, but from what I could see, the food looked fantastic. The grounds here, by the way, are lovely as is the pool. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were unexpectedly roomy for a European hotel, and our mini fridge was restocked with water and Perrier every day. So why only 4 stars? Well, at the risk of diving head first into an annoying American cliche here, I'd be hesitant to stay again due to the rooms being insanely hot and stuffy. We were here in mid-May, so temps were already in the mid to upper 80's by early afternoon. Add in that glorious, ever-constant Provençal sun and you've got yourself a nice little sweat box of a room during the day. Despite the hotel advertising climate control in all of its rooms, we were informed that the a/c was not yet activated due to the cooler weather in the evenings. True, the temps dropped into the 60s at night but we found an open, screenless window did little to cool the room down and lots in letting in all kinds of winged visitors. We ended up asking for a fan which made it slightly more comfortable. Honestly the nights were somewhat tolerable. During the day, however, was another story. My husband and I happened to be traveling with my parents, one of which was recovering from recent heart surgery. Not having a comfortable room to come back to to take naps as needed in the afternoon was really frustrating. Having lived through nine DC summers, I feel cold when it's in the 70s sometimes and I didn't even like to sit in our room during the day because it was so uncomfortable. I hate to harp on this point because everything else about this hotel was wonderful, but it was annoying not having a comfortable space to stop in during the day to recharge or a cool sanctuary to unwind in at night. So...in summary, stay here. In the late fall perhaps.
