First the summary, then will provide additional details for those interested in more. My daughter wanted to visit Paris this month (June 2025) for a graduation gift, and I had two objectives in mind: find a hotel within walking distance to the major historical and cultural treasures of the city; and secondly, to be around $250 per night in total hotel costs. Going only on what I read in online reviews, I booked Hotel de Roubaix, since it met both objectives, and hoped for the best. My daughter and I could not have been more pleased with the hotel. Spotless, efficiently run, accommodating, gracious staff and owner, ideal location, well-priced. I recommend this hotel without hesitation. |Now some details. First, hotel management. The owner, Christophe Coineau, is a hands-on owner-operator who demonstrated pride of ownership. He was gracious, generous, welcoming. |The hotel staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Friendly, quick to please and assist. |The atmosphere of the hotel was as inviting as the staff. The walls are covered with art and collectibles, all clean and dust-free. The artwork found on almost every surface of the public areas of the hotel was novel and interesting, focused on various themes of French culture: fashion, famous models, all things car (LeMans), Warhol-style pop-art. |The rooms were basic but clean and modern. Both mattresses were firm and seemed newer, the bedding was spotless and well laundered. The tiled bathroom was a bit tight but with all new fixtures and spotless. |The breakfast service was very well done. The breakfast room itself was friendly and inviting, with walls of rough stone and good lighting. Colorful stoneware and metal utensils were at each place setting. The variety of breads, cheeses, eggs, jellies and breakfast meats exceeded what I would have expected at a two-star hotel. |The location was ideal. The Louvre was a 15 minute walk, Notre Dame maybe 20 minutes. The neighborhoods surrounding the hotel are packed with cafes and restaurants. Two neighborhood markets/grocery stores were less than a block away. |If you are looking for a clean, comfortable, affordable, and friendly hotel with a great location, I would recommend this hotel.
