The location is right in the center of the village. There is elevator as well for go up to your room which is very convenient. At night time is very quiet because most of the tourist stay in the bigger town I guess.

Great location and cute small hotel. ||The rooms do not have air-conditioning, which is fine, but upon opening window windows, flies get into the room. At least have a fly swatter available in the room.||Pillows should be softer/fluffier.||There was a fan available in the room, but it could be more powerful given the lack of air-conditioning and ability to open windows.

We’ve traveled all summer, and our meal at the Hotel de Ville was perhaps the best we had. The local trout and the quiche were truly exceptional.|The hotel has a great location, but service and amenities are subpar. (The staff is as nice as can be. They just don’t seem to have much idea as to what guests expect from an experience standpoint.)|Pillows were awful. Half a roll of toilet paper for a family of four. TVs and internet that wouldn’t work.|Again, the staff was excellent and very apologetic, but they need a manager to come in and get things together for their guests.|Next time, we’ll stay across the street and just have dinner at Hotel de Ville.

The location is great for exploring Gruyère. As others mentioned there is no parking at hotel, a short walk up a cobblestone hill from a paid parking lot of 10CHF/d if parking between hours of 8:30a-6p. Since we left early and returned late we didn’t have to pay that. The day we explored the castle we just paid 3 CHF for an hour and a half at the meter. |There is no check in reception. It was confusing to realize we had to go to restaurant and ask someone there for help. They were friendly when they did. Small elevator if needed. Also as others mentioned there is no AC. We had windows open but was still warm to sleep. There was one fan, should be 2 (one for each window). Also the delivery trucks start early during week and makes it loud w windows open. As someone also mentioned there was a brightly lit promotional fridge in the room. Make sure to plug it in as soon as you get there if you want to use. I used my coat over it at night to avoid the fluorescent lighting. I was happy to have it for the bit of food we had. Missed having a freezer for our ice packs for our day travel food bag. I couldn’t find a confirmation. I emailed and they were very responsive, sending confirmation quickly and answering any questions.

Really enjoyed our stay at Hotel de Ville (Apartment 12.) Was beautifully appointed and super comfortable for our family of three. Views from the apartment are picture-perfect, enjoyed coffee on the balcony in the morning (and could have hosted a dinner party for 8 with with well-appointed kitchen.) Streamed a movie after enjoying the day touring town.

Really bad experience for an expensive hotel. Our room was boiling hot and the pillow was very flat. There were flies everywhere. We had dinner there and had to move tables because there were so many flies. The next table was a little better but still spent much of the meal swatting them away and trying to get them with the menu. For the breakfast, there were flies crawling all over the bread that was out. Besides that, the selection was the worst of any hotel we have stayed out so far and there was no alternative milk option at all. I did complain to the lady working and her response was, "I understand" but no resolution offered. I would never stay there again.

7/10 Food was good, service was sadly a bit forgetful a few times. It was saved by the great view and amazing cheese vom gruyère.

Yelp
We stayed for a weekend (Sunday to Monday) in the Hôtel De Ville mostly to enjoy the beautiful old village of Gruyere and naturally having a nice cheese fondue on the patio - where you can enjoy your food and having a nice view on the village. They offer a small selection of rooms (I think they have 6 Doubles) - for a reasonable price. The rooms are clean and well equipped - nothing fancy but functional and situated right in the middle of the village. As mentioned before - you need to enjoy the Gruyere Cheese Fondue (moitié-moitié - half Gruyere half Vacherin Fribourgeois Cheese). You can get it everywhere in the village (I think all are good with this view lol). You can order some pickles and some potatoes as a side - standard you just use bread with the melted cheese but especially potatoes are working great too. I liked very much that they have some choice in half bottles - with the Cheese Fondue you typically drink a Fendat (White Wine) - I did like the Yvorne much better. And even when the fondue was quite heavy - don't forget to take a Meringues with the Gruyere Double cream (you can have a small portion too) - it is a MUST. Service is very friendly naturally in high season they are very stressed because it's busy all day. And by the way the Aliens are not fare ... So I love the village and I liked this place too. So we will come again.

Yelp
So when in Gruyere, Switzerland, the thing to do is to have fondue. Gruyere is a tiny little town. You can literally walk from one end to the other in less than 5 minutes. The street is lined with tons of fondue restaurants so you can smell the pungent cheese the moment you walk into town. We ended up picking this place for our fondue experience. All the places here charge a lot for fondue. It's 26 swiss francs per person for just cheese and bread. If you want anything else to dip in the cheese, you have to pay quite a bit more. It is unlimited cheese but I will bow down to you if you can stomach more than one large serving that they give you. The cheese is indeed pungent. It's not like the fondue you can get in the states so don't expect Melting Pot style cheese fondue. This is in a class of its own. You may want to avoid this if you are sensitive to smell. They also have this other popular cheese dish where you get a block of cheese on the "Raclette" which melts the cheese from the top. You then scoop it with a knife. I didn't try it but got to see our neighboring table's. It looks really cool but the smell is even stronger than the fondue. They have other dishes too but you kind of have to try the cheese. The server was really nice and everyone speaks English.

Yelp
This place serves the same size to kinder and adults but charges double for the adult portion. The food is subpar.

Yelp
Awesome restaurant for fondue! Great atmosphere, regional food and decent prices. :) large portion sizes. I think we took 2 "menus" for 4 people, added 2 salads and we were good!

Yelp
My wife and I recently visited Switzerland and took a day trip from Geneva to Montreux and boarded the Chocolate/Cheese Train to Gruyeres and Broc. After touring the Gruyeres Cheese Factory, we walked around the stylish village looking for a place to have a Cheese Fondue lunch. We decided on the Hotel de Ville restaurant and were promptly greeted by our friendly server, Raul. We split a nice sized delicious green salad and ordered cheese fondue plus a beer and a glass of wine. Our salad was served quickly and soon afterwards, Raul, brought us our main dish. The fondue was absolutely fantastic and it came with plenty of fresh bread, perfect for dipping. Prices were very reasonable and we were quite happy and satisfied with our visits' first taste of authentic cheese fondue. We had a bit of difficulty connecting to their wifi and Raul actually had the owner, who happened to be sitting across from us having lunch with friends, assist getting my IPHONE connected If you have a chance to visit Gruyeres, be sure to take time to enjoy the food and the hospitality at the restaurant at Hotel de Ville.
