Really enjoyed our stay at Hotel de Ville (Apartment 12.) Was beautifully appointed and super comfortable for our family of three. Views from the apartment are picture-perfect, enjoyed coffee on the balcony in the morning (and could have hosted a dinner party for 8 with with well-appointed kitchen.) Streamed a movie after enjoying the day touring town.

Dinner at the Hotel de Ville in Gruyères. The raclette was great, included bread, potatoes, pickles and small onions. Second serving of cheese was filling. Also had a bottle of Swiss Fendant white wine. Great view the center of Gruyères. A must visit

Our Edelweiss room at Hotel De Ville was more charming and inviting than we expected! The view was superb of the farmland, cows crazing and mountains view and the room and bathroom very clean and updated. Dining was excellent as was the chef and waiters. This was truly a fairy tail place with an incredible castle to explore for FREE! It was my second time in Gruyeres and I highly recommend this charming gem. AND, I have to mention that Greyeres cheese and fondue are my favorites!

The hotel experience was great, though I suggest to avoid their takeaway shop. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of this beautiful village. The rooms are clean and tidy. We were lucky to get one with a lovely view. Breakfast is simple but satisfying. However, I’d avoid their takeaway next door. Since every restaurant was full, we decided to give it a try. While the food was good, the service was terrible. The person serving was rude and seemed angry at everyone.

The rooms, bathrooms, comfort, atmosphere, food, drinks, service, location, cleanliness, and beds were excellent! I was traveling with my family from the States and my one complaint would be that the place was a little too overpriced and there was no official parking. We had dinner at the restaurant here at the hotel and it was incredible! The breakfast and drinks were also excellent. Very close to the downtown and middle of the city and very safe. I would definitely come back again and recommend this place to everyone!

Room was very small and somewhat old, tired. There was everything we needed, but a bit underwhelming. "Minibar" was a promotional drinks showcase with a large glass front brightly illuminating the whole room 24/7 . Reception desk is non existent, but receptionist lady is very friendly all the same. The big letdown however was the restaurant: we are Swiss and therefore know about Fondue. Fondue came at the same time as the salad and had to sit there waiting while we ate the salad. Fondue doesn't do well waiting. And it was bland. We did not receive any fork until we asked for them. We also had to ask for dinner plates. They brought us one piece and seemed surprised to hear that we both wanted a plate to eat our dinner. All in all, the two ladies working the dinner service were terrible, but they were terrible with a smile. Next time we try the hotel across the town square.

Lunch was slow. I don't blame them as the place was packed. And the raclette cheese was not what I expected. However, if you have never eaten here before and your only experience is YouTube where you see this impressive half circle cheese slab, prepare to temper your hopes and expectations. Here they provide a rectangular pre cut slab of cheese. Similar to YouTube albeit the shape, you put it under a heating element till it melts. Whatever said about the shape, the cheese itself was delicious. The provided bread and potatoes provided the base for the cheese to be spread on. It you enjoy cheeses, then you will show to enjoy this. Melting semi liquid cheese with bread and potatoes had never tasted this good. In addition, we also had their pumpkin soup which was thick and flavourful. We also ordered their spaghetti with pork. The pork portion is generous and the mushroom sauce was adequately seasoned and enough to enjoy the spaghetti with. Nothing exceptional but tummy filling all the same. As for the dessert, I didn't find the meringue special except for the accompanying creamy buttery spread. Now that was yummy.

Dear team of Hotel de Ville Gruyères,|I want to take this short moment to express my sincere greetings to the precious team, from the service to the owner of the place, who all showed much serviceability and dedication to ensure a great and smooth stay. The room was big and very comfortable, the bathroom had all required amenities and the bed was big with high quality bedding.|The reception ladies were most agreeable and smiling, which is always great when you come as a tourist in an unknown place. I very much appreciated how solution-oriented they all were, given that the taxi let me down last minute, and I would have missed my train if the owner himself hadn't taken me to the train station. The authentic, excellent, Swiss service, just the way we like it! I highly recommend for a real experience :)

Yelp
We stayed for a weekend (Sunday to Monday) in the Hôtel De Ville mostly to enjoy the beautiful old village of Gruyere and naturally having a nice cheese fondue on the patio - where you can enjoy your food and having a nice view on the village. They offer a small selection of rooms (I think they have 6 Doubles) - for a reasonable price. The rooms are clean and well equipped - nothing fancy but functional and situated right in the middle of the village. As mentioned before - you need to enjoy the Gruyere Cheese Fondue (moitié-moitié - half Gruyere half Vacherin Fribourgeois Cheese). You can get it everywhere in the village (I think all are good with this view lol). You can order some pickles and some potatoes as a side - standard you just use bread with the melted cheese but especially potatoes are working great too. I liked very much that they have some choice in half bottles - with the Cheese Fondue you typically drink a Fendat (White Wine) - I did like the Yvorne much better. And even when the fondue was quite heavy - don't forget to take a Meringues with the Gruyere Double cream (you can have a small portion too) - it is a MUST. Service is very friendly naturally in high season they are very stressed because it's busy all day. And by the way the Aliens are not fare ... So I love the village and I liked this place too. So we will come again.

Yelp
So when in Gruyere, Switzerland, the thing to do is to have fondue. Gruyere is a tiny little town. You can literally walk from one end to the other in less than 5 minutes. The street is lined with tons of fondue restaurants so you can smell the pungent cheese the moment you walk into town. We ended up picking this place for our fondue experience. All the places here charge a lot for fondue. It's 26 swiss francs per person for just cheese and bread. If you want anything else to dip in the cheese, you have to pay quite a bit more. It is unlimited cheese but I will bow down to you if you can stomach more than one large serving that they give you. The cheese is indeed pungent. It's not like the fondue you can get in the states so don't expect Melting Pot style cheese fondue. This is in a class of its own. You may want to avoid this if you are sensitive to smell. They also have this other popular cheese dish where you get a block of cheese on the "Raclette" which melts the cheese from the top. You then scoop it with a knife. I didn't try it but got to see our neighboring table's. It looks really cool but the smell is even stronger than the fondue. They have other dishes too but you kind of have to try the cheese. The server was really nice and everyone speaks English.

Yelp
This place serves the same size to kinder and adults but charges double for the adult portion. The food is subpar.

Yelp
Awesome restaurant for fondue! Great atmosphere, regional food and decent prices. :) large portion sizes. I think we took 2 "menus" for 4 people, added 2 salads and we were good!

Yelp
Enjoyed sitting outside, eating fondue and watching the people enjoying the quaint village street!

Yelp
My wife and I recently visited Switzerland and took a day trip from Geneva to Montreux and boarded the Chocolate/Cheese Train to Gruyeres and Broc. After touring the Gruyeres Cheese Factory, we walked around the stylish village looking for a place to have a Cheese Fondue lunch. We decided on the Hotel de Ville restaurant and were promptly greeted by our friendly server, Raul. We split a nice sized delicious green salad and ordered cheese fondue plus a beer and a glass of wine. Our salad was served quickly and soon afterwards, Raul, brought us our main dish. The fondue was absolutely fantastic and it came with plenty of fresh bread, perfect for dipping. Prices were very reasonable and we were quite happy and satisfied with our visits' first taste of authentic cheese fondue. We had a bit of difficulty connecting to their wifi and Raul actually had the owner, who happened to be sitting across from us having lunch with friends, assist getting my IPHONE connected If you have a chance to visit Gruyeres, be sure to take time to enjoy the food and the hospitality at the restaurant at Hotel de Ville.
