We spent a week long honeymoon in Hotel De Windketel and it was pure heaven. The hotel is located near major walking and biking streets for easy sightseeing, but the placement of the structure behind the larger apartment building makes this a quiet oasis. We felt perfectly secluded while still in the middle of things. The neighboring Westerpark is filled with great restaurants, we loved being walking distance to a great Art Deco movie theatre The Movies (15 min), and walking distance (20 - 30 min) to all the great shopping in the Jordaan neighborhood. With a great bike rental shop located steps from the front door, we were able to easily bike around all of Amsterdam's gorgous parks. The hotel was clean, spacious for two and beautifully designed. The space had two TVs, two bathrooms, a dishwasher, a toaster, a coffee maker with some coffee to get us started, plenty of pots and pans for cooking, a hair dryer (!) and three floors of very well used space. The staff was warm, helpful and responsive over email. We loved it. We were so sad to leave!

We found this place by chance and are very happy about that. Located in a quiet area with an excellent restaurant 15m away as well as a tram station (Line 10) nearly in front of this small house infrastructure was close to perfect. The interior of this house is (except for an oven) really good. We can recomend this place warmly to everybody who is capabel of climbing steep stairs. Thus he or she is, will have an excellent place to spend time in Amsterdam. In case you want to have a big bathroom....here you won't find it. But nearly everything else!

This unusual creative decorated and renovated apartment has style! Besides, it is cultural heritage and has stories to tell. So has the environment, for instance the Westerpark. In two minutes walking you will be in a green, relaxing, but roaring place where you can enjoy a walk through nature, through breweries, coffeehouses and terraces. Note: it is an apartment, so no breakfast room of what so ever. But, a fully equiped kitch at your disposal.

One of the best places that I have stayed in! It is probably because it is so unique and this cosy, little tower has all the facilities you could possibly need; I have not stayed anywhere else like it! Perfect location, (in a quiet area yet the bus stop is around the corner) and a few stops away from the centre. Mossels and gin is a close by restaurant that I would highly recommend going to (if you like mussels and/or gin ofcourse)! |But the place itself is absolutely faultless! Can only accommodate two people but it is a place that one will visit and remember vividly... highly highly highly recommend!

This hidden gem was a wonderful place to stay in Amsterdam. The place was cozy but it made great use of space. The location was ideal with restaurants and the park near by. There is a fantastic coffee place right in the park and I also recommend Rainarai for dinner. The internet was a bit inconsistent but that may have been our issue. Absolutely one of my favorite places I have stayed and would love to return

I planned a surprise 'new year' trip for my partner & I, and found Hotel de Windketel on Google when I typed in "quirky places to stay in Amsterdam". - This place is Amazing!|It is a lovely little building that has all facilities and becomes your temporary home; it's in the perfect location, and is the perfect place for couples. Will definitely be booking here again!

Such an awesome and unique place to stay in Amsterdam. Also easily accessible with a tram stop so close by. Stayed here for my 21st birthday and I'd definitely stay again! I love that it's so small yet the space has been used very well!

We stayed at the Windketel in late March to early 2017. My mother-in-law stayed there while we stayed at our place nearby. The privacy and amazing location of the Windketel was delightful. Lizbeth, the owner was very hospitable and most gracious. We even got to have a family reunion with my husband's niece and her family - the dining area fit us all and we all had a great time! Thank you, Lizbeth!
