"For the daily contrast of modern urban living and millennia-old historical sites, not many places can compete with Rome. Hotel dei Barbieri, though tucked away down a quiet side street, is among the best-located Roman boutique hotels — not only is it close to the Pantheon and the Campo de’ Fiori, but it’s mere yards from the Largo di Torre Argentina, the site of some recently unearthed ruins, including the spot where Caesar is believed to have met his end." - Tablet Hotels

Thanks so much to Adrianne for helping us enjoy a whirlwind, but lovely, few days in Rome. Adrianne was a great help explaining the city and making arrangements for taxi transfers - with little time to spare she made our break really easy. The hotel is a beautiful building and Adrianne kindly took the time to explain the history and show us around. With two teenagers we occupied Room 3A, which worked really well as is has a separate bedroom but unfortunately not a separate bathroom. ||The hotel location is brilliant, central for most things but also quietly tucked away. As it was mostly sunny we walked everywhere which was a great way to explore the city. We fell in love with Trapizzino at Trilussa which serves great wine with delicious Suppli and Trapizzino, plus Roscioli pizza - both just a short walk from the hotel.||I recommend pre-booking tours online before you go, although the queues this time of year weren't so bad if you're happy to wait - our time was short in the city with lots to fit in!||Thank you again to Adrienne for helping make our short holiday very easy!

The hotel I booked as it looked modern and clean and large for a family of 4. The suite was much smaller than expected unfortunately and quite a squeeze for 4 people it was also very dark with only a few small windows. The rooms are quite tired and could do with refurbishing but are clean. The location was great and walking distance to everything we wanted to see. The breakfast over the road was fine although small it was fresh and satisfactory for what we needed before exploring. Although one day it got incredibly busy so we had to stand and wait for 20 mins. (Better to eat earlier) The big issue we had was noise, we worked out the hotel doesn’t own the whole building and the floors above were occupied (air bnb) apartments, unfortunately every day and night there was either loud banging, children running around, shouting etc. I think the hotel should have confirmed this on their website as it’s hard to have control on that for guests if you don’t own those floors. When paying huge amount (850£per night) you don’t want to be woken ip by loud noises through the night or during the day. The staff were fantastic otherwise, very cheerful and happy. But would I stay again? No, for that type of money I would choose elsewhere or stay in the air b n b above for a lot less!

We were really happy with our stay at the hotel. Our room (Standard) could have been a bit bigger, but besides that everything was perfect. The staff was so friendly and helpful, the hotel is beautiful and the location is unmatched. We could walk to all tourist spots and didn't need to take public transport. We would definately book this hotel again.

The location is excellent and the building itself is beautiful, which naturally sets high expectations. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not justify the price point or the hotel’s apparent ambition toward luxury. The rooms lack the level of finesse one would expect at this rate. While there is a clear effort to create a sense of luxury, the execution ultimately misses the mark when considering the quality of materials and finishes used throughout the rooms. Upon check-in, I discovered clothing left behind by a previous guest in the closet, as well as broken glass embedded in the rug. When I raised this issue with staff at check-out, the response was limited to, “Thank you for the information, I’ll let the cleaning staff know,” without any apology or acknowledgment. This response made me question the overall cleanliness standards of the property. Unfortunately, cleanliness concerns extended beyond the room itself. During my stay, food remnants and trash were visible in common areas, further detracting from the experience. The complimentary breakfast was also a disappointment. There did not appear to be enough seating for the number of guests, which resulted in people competing for tables. The quality of the offerings felt more appropriate for a much lower-tier hotel, not one charging premium rates. Staff seemed overwhelmed, and even getting a coffee in a timely manner proved difficult. Check-out was another oddly handled experience. I was instructed in advance to return to my floor to check out with a staff member rather than completing the process in the lobby. However, when I called the front desk to initiate this procedure, no one answered. When I then left my room with my bags to check out in the lobby, I found the only staff member on shift occupied with a booking issue involving other guests. Despite this, I was told I still needed to return to my floor to check out rather than completing the process in the lobby. When I returned upstairs, the staff member first had to remove a discarded pizza box from the checkout/common area before proceeding. During the process, my final receipt—totaling over $600 USD—was briefly rested on the pizza box. When I later asked why this inefficient check-out procedure was required, I was told it was because I had stayed in a suite. This felt like another attempt at exclusivity that lacked clarity, purpose, or refinement. The bathroom and shower were quite nice, but towels and toiletries were left scattered rather than neatly arranged, again detracting from the intended experience.Notably, during my comings and goings, I overheard multiple other guests in the lobby discussing issues with staff that closely mirrored my own experience, suggesting these concerns were not isolated. For travelers seeking similar aesthetics and location with significantly better execution, G-Rough or Nomos Hotel offer a far more unique and thoughtfully tailored experience. Overall, this was a less-than-satisfactory stay given the pricing and expectations. I’m fortunate to have stayed only one night.

We've booked Hotel dei Barbieri and had a great stay. Due to the cancellation of our flight we had to stay an extra night but Barbieri was full and so they arrange a booking into the sister property, Hotel Trame. Both hotels were amazing. Thanks to Giacomo who reserved for us a luxurious suite

I stayed at Hotel dei Barbieri for a weekend and everything was really great. Rooms are really nice and their breakfast offers a lot of choices. Our stay wouldn't be the same without Chiara, she took really good care of us, always ready to help. We will surely come back!

A perfect hotel for a city break in Rome! The location is amazing, the rooms big and spacious, the staff friendly and attentive. Everything was near perfect with the only slight area for improvement being the wifi which dropped in and out a lot during our stay. Definitely worth a stay the next time you’re in Rome!
