Hotel Del Glaciar

We felt the hotel could improve the quality of rooms facilities. The room was quite small, the shower looked old, and the noise from neighbors could be easily heard. It was not the greatest value for money, compared to other hotels we found out in El Calafate. The bright side was their staff service, and the breakfast with a pleasant variety of food.

We booked our room months in advance. We asked for a queen size bed. When we arrived in the hotel, there was only one person to check us in. I understand that she, Andre, was doing her best. She was pleasant and welcoming but it took about 40 minutes to check in due to having to answer many, many questions from guests who were checking in before us. To wait that long to check in is quite unacceptable in any hotel. Not good. The hotel should have another person to assist with check in.||She believed we had booked a room with two twin beds but we had requested a queen size bed. When she finally took us to our room, it looked nothing like the photos we had seen on Expedia. The room was extremely small, not clean, old and unkept (rust, furniture in bad shape) no TV, a window with a view to a small piece of dirt and walls, no safe for our passports, only two bath towels and two hand towels. We were shocked and disappointed. Again, that looked nothing like the photos shown on Expedia.||We left the hotel immediately. We never had such a frustrating experience at a hotel. We felt deceived because we would never have booked and paid in advance for a room like the one they gave us.

The staff was very pleasant and helpful. That is the best part. The breakfast was adequate. The pictures are deceiving. The hotel was dirty. There was no running water or hot water during our stay. The toilet was not functioning in our room beyond that the supervisor never got in touch with us and did nothing for us. There are a lot of other options I would avoid this hotel.

The hotel is nice, but noisy. When we stayed in the hotel (28 Feb 2024) at night the tap in the bathroom collapsed at 02:00 and water was coming out like a fountain! We had to stop it ourselves. The staf was very clumsy, just standing paralysed. They did not call an expert, but left it up to us. Finaly, after one hour or so, they gave us another room, so we had to move in the middle of the night. We got the room and moved. There were no excuses or thanks for our support from the staff the next morning!

Same as published in Booking - The worst choice of +3 weeks trip in Argentina, Brazil and Chile. Left directly after one night out of the three paid for a cheaper and much better hotel. Received a notification at 10:22 to check out the eoom on the third day....

Excellent hotel. Its very warm and comfy and the beds are great. The staff is very kind and helpful. The hotel have a great ubication, just in the center of the Calafate city. They give us great recommedations for tours and tips. I will definetly come back.

Try to be in the new section at the back, we paid for the newest rooms but got the old ones on our first stay before TDP, when back we had the newest rooms and were very happy with it, strong shower, comfy bed, reception staff super helpful

The charming building is a bit of a facade, with character but rather empty. Rooms appear to be built quickly and have thin walls with not much to the interior, no TV, and one usable outlet. The wifi was fine and towels were nice. The bed comforter gets hot during the night. Reception was nice and the cafe was a nice touch. There are good restaurants nearby.
