Hotel Del Sol

Cute hotel near Union St. (Union St. has lots of shops and restaurants.) Staff was friendly and exceptionally helpful. Parking on-site is available but tricky. Breakfast is robust. The hotel is well maintained, the rooms are comfortable and while the walls are thin and the hotel is near a busy street and a busy EV charging station, it didn't disrupt your sleep.

Positive: The room was clean,and the bed was comfortable Negative: Parking cost- but that goes with all the parking cost everywhere there

Resort fee ($32/day w/tax) was a surprise at check-in and more of junk / revenue-booster fee. It’s not a resort property. Resort fee should be optional. Included resort fee amenities such as breakfast are not universally valued. Bed was comfortable. Front desk staff friendly and responsive. Room had a slightly musty smell. Not worth the all-in price. I don’t mind paying $225+ for a room, but this place does not warrant that price.

The rooms are very comfortable, with nice beds a d amazing pillows! The television is large and they have a DVD player. I requested a fridge for my meds (+25). Bathroom was a large walk in shower, smaller toilet a d sink area. It featured a large walk in closet with a safe for valuables. Carl our host was friendly and super helpful. The lobby has snacks for purchase and a continental breakfast grab n go box (free). They have bicycles for guest use and a heated pool. Plus a fire pit area And corn hole. A cute gated parking area. Very quiet, clean and safe place. We will return here our next visit to SF.

The most positive and helpful staff ever! Upon arrival I had trouble finding the gate entrance for parking and the woman over the phone helped guide me with so much patience! The staff were all smiles and eager to be of help. Staff took time to answer my questions fully, and took the time to show me where the best seafood was, and the best walking paths to the Marina, and tips on Parking, just wonderful. Rooms were clean and bright 🌞 loved the shower!

Hotel Del Sol is such a gem and so close to many different interesting sites. It was a convenient and comfortable home base for our visit, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was well- maintained and we enjoyed sitting in the main courtyard for breakfast and in the afternoon.

This hotel has been updated and is very comfortable. The linens were great. Check-in was a breeze and Jennifer was super-friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very nice for such a small motel/hotel. It was so nice that coffee is available at all hours. The location is fantastic - so close to shops, restaurants, sights. We felt very safe walking in this area.

Spent a weekend exploring the neighborhood. Great restaurants and bars all within walking distance. The staff was so friendly and helpful. One gentleman even walked ahead of our car a block over to show us the overflow parking. The morning offings in the lobby were perfect, the coffee excellent. The rooms were quiet and cozy, the pillows almost found their way into my luggage they were so Devine! Will for sure be staying again soon.

My family and I stayed for 5 nights. What I loved: family friendly environment, quiet, safe, great customer service, close proximity to everything or just a short walk to the nearest bus stop, the walk in closet kept traveling clutter out of view. My kids loved coming back from a day out to cookies and punch in the lobby. The grab and go complimentary breakfast is decent. What I didn't love but outweighed by the good: the size of the bathroom was difficult for 2 adults and 2 kids. Next time I will likely pay more for a bigger place. The pool although heated was not heated enough for the cold SF June weather. I recommend this hotel for a family traveling on a budget. It's a good value.

I had a delightful experience at Hotel Del Sol in the Marina District. This boutique hotel is small but mighty. It was clean, and the staff was accommodating and attentive. The daily continental breakfast was a nice touch, and the cookies at the front desk were phenomenal. The heated pool was a nice addition, although I didn't use it. A few things to consider before booking: this is a boutique hotel, so everything is small and compact, including the elevators, bathrooms, lobby, and other facilities. The TV doesn't have regular channels or cable, so you have to Chromecast from your phone. The walls are thin, so it can be a little loud at times; however, the property was very quiet during my stay, especially in the morning. Besides all that, the area felt safe, and taxis, Ubers, and Lyfts were just minutes away when I called them. I would definitely stay here again.

This is the only place we stay when visiting SF! The front desk staff especially Oscar are incredibly welcoming and helpful through the stay. One is the things I like about staying at the Del Sol is consistency and service. Two importantly things that seems to be harder and harder to come by. Also the rooms are super clean which also a plus.

We spent 3 nights at Hotel Del Sol and overall it was a good experience! The check-in process was easy and the room was clean. The grounds weren't quite as nice as the photos had shown and there was construction tape near the pool area. Otherwise though, everything was up to standard. Hotel Del Sol's location was really the best part, with so many great coffee shops, bars, and restaurants within walking distance. The complimentary breakfast was also better than I had expected! Would stay here again.

A gem away from the hubbub but not really... We just adore this Hotel.. The staff is amazing - so helpful and friendly! The prices are fabulous for SF- their parking is enclosed and that's priceless - now $45 but worth the piece of mind! Oskar is terrific along with Tiffany the GM!!! We love the cute rooms, The great breakfasts The Absolute Friendliness from every staff member The safety of the car park The neighborhood- a stone's throw from Chestnut St and Chrissy Field. We will be back again and again!!!

The vibe at Hotel del Sol is very friendly and the colorful decor is witty and cheerful. Everything is very clean. The neighborhood offers a variety of coffee shops, restaurants from pricey Union Street uphill a few less expensive options on side streets. Also the breakfast buffet in the lobby includes some excellent pastries and coffee and hot water are available 24/7. In five or more visits to Hotel del Sol the only negative thing I've experienced is dangerously slick white tile in the bathroom of every room I've stayed in including the so-called handicapped accessible room. A member of my family had a very bad fall while stepping from the shower to the floor with damp feet. I really think the hotel needs to address this problem by providing signage to warn people about the slick floor and also provide rubber matting.

Several of our friends booked rooms here the other night to attend a 90th birthday party near by. It's not easy to find a decent place to stay in this part of town. We liked this alot. Nothing fancy but clean, helpful staff, great location for what we were going. Onsite parking is a plus. Would stay here again. I think I saw a previous post that there were no elevators but they do have one. My friend uses a walker so we requested a room close to the elevator - worked out just fine. It's also great that it is a block or so off of Lombard street - not noisey at all. Highly recommended.

My family of 4 spent 5 nights at Hotel Del Sol and it was perfect for what we needed. As other reviews have stated, the grounds are not as polished as they appear in the photos. The paint is wearing off in places and the pool could use repainted. Also, unfortunately, the large palm trees in the center have been removed. Other than some cosmetic defects, there are no negative sides to staying at Hotel Del Sol. The staff is incredibly kind, the rooms are clean, the pool is heated so that our kids could swim even on a cool spring day in San Francisco. We were always able to find parking inside and felt that our rental car was secure. We also felt that it was safe enough to have our kids running downstairs to grab a warm chocolate chip cookie or a cup of hot chocolate without us accompanying them! Walking distance to Lombard Street, the Marina District, Union Street, and Presidio Park, the location could not have been more perfect!

Perfect location in Marina district. Limited secure parking and overflow lot outside. That is a motel with clean rooms and outdoor pool. They undergo remodeling of the outside area and have construction noises during the week. Take to the room breakfast is not bad. Total charge and fees outside room rate come to almost $60 per day between parking fees, resort fees and some other fees and taxes

Hotrible front office female!! This is the SECOND BAD EXPERIENCE from this same front office girl!! OMG! I paid online abd then she tells me I have to pay at the hotel. The amount for 1 night is reserved on my CC. So because I have had a couple emergencies i don't have enough credit for another night! Then she says if I pay part cash I have to give her $100 CASH DEPOSIT -- ironic huh?! She wasn't happy because I didn't want to spend $30 extra for their "upgraded" rooms. It's a dumpy ex-Best Western!! Why would I want to pay $150 a night to a sourpuss and a crappy property?!?? Last time I was there I had my 2 service dogs with me. She verbally said she doubted that one of my dogs was a service dog because he was "old"--he was the dog that saved my life!! What a wench she was, asking for $150 cash deposit because of my dogs that were certified service dogs!! I wish I knew where to report her because I definitely would. Do not stay here!! You won't regret it!! All this hassle because I was trying to avoid the Motel 6 across the street. Ugh!!!

This is where we stay whenever we visit the City. Every member of the staff is very friendly and helpful. They clearly want to make sure you have a great visit. Excellent location - great area where you can explore on foot and walk to all the restaurants and bars you could ever want. Secured parking, clean quiet rooms, good free breakfast, free coffee and tea all day.

Wonderful service, convenient location. We definitely plan on staying here again for our weekend trips to the city. The secure parking is a huge perk. If you're looking for large rooms/bathrooms and brand new fixtures, this isn't the place for you, but we loved the charm and retro vibe. We really appreciate the staff setting up the pack n play and having everything ready for us. Thank you for a great stay!

We did a last minute change of plans. The lady at the front desk was nice. They offer continental breakfast. The parking is a little snug but the car was safe. It is near several restaurants and bus stops. PLUS*** Pet friendly! The room we stayed in was clean. No stains of any sorts! Definitely will be coming back!

Still (after 2 years) Hotel Del Sol is absolutely the BEST hotel to stay at in the Bay!!! Andrew is AMAZING. I stay about once a month and would not stay anywhere else! They hold to wonderful hospitality and great rates.... local and in a very convenient location.

The hotel is fun and family friendly. Our kids (5 and 8) loved hanging out in the hammocks after long days of sightseeing. There is breakfast in the lobby to bring back to the room each morning which was really nice. While the location is great, it is also in an area with many bars and nightlife. On Saturday, the people in room next to us had a party and blasted music around 2:30 in the morning. After it went on for a while I texted the front desk and within minutes we heard security knock on the door and break up the party. While annoyed we were woken up, I was totally impressed by the accessibility of the front desk at this hour and the swift response. The next night (Sunday) was quiet and we had a great experience. I'd highly recommend the hotel, but with fair warning that weekends may not be as quiet as you'd like.

This place is awesome! We stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights and we had a great time. It was near to all the points of interest in San Fo. You can also just go down and walk around as the stores are also around the corner. The place is impeccable and the staff are wonderful. The manager was very pleasant and accommodating. I highly recommend this place.

I don't know how this motel qualifies for a 3 star? Just needed a couple nights. We arrived a little early, and then left. It's quite horrible. The walkways on the 2nd and third floor feel and look like they will collapse any minute. I thought this might be a cute kitschy motor lodge but it's scary and falling apart!

First time visiting San Francisco and this hotel and staff were amazing!! I felt safe and loved the atmosphere and bright colors in the middle courtyard area. Location is perfect, so many restaurants within walking distance. I had the deluxe king suite, the bed and pillows were toooo comfortable, and the room was a decent size. They're also pet friendly!! Only complaint I wish they would put mini fridges in the rooms, other then that this will be my go to hotel anytime I visit San Francisco

Cute, clean place. Very small property, less than a 50 room facility and pet friendly. However, you think you're getting a great deal by the price online, but they do not tell you about the parking OR amenities fees. What amenities? They have none! There is a small pool, but in January and during a major winter storm flooding, of course, it was closed. No gym, game room , laundry. Which is fine, but that would be what I consider amenities. Also, the continental breakfast was taken and all put away in their tiny office @ 10:07 am. C'mon, now people (7 min late) and was turned away. No lobby, literally a tiny office with 1 chair and a small desk.$25 for mini fridge, even though it was advertised, it was in the room. We had to pay and then have it placed in there. I travel for work several times a month and stay for 3 nights. Eating out gets too costly, so when you plan on saving and this is thrown at you, it is very disappointing. They need to be transparent, this is highway robbery! Have not received a call back and probably won't. I will be returning to speak with them next week when I return to the area, but now I will be staying elsewhere. Ended up being $600 in total for 3 nights. Go elsewhere people because at this price, you're paying top $$ prices for a 2-3 star MOTEL, not HOTEL. But like I said, it's cute, clean, and quiet....BUT too many hidden fees.

We stayed overnight last Friday. I requested early check in and got there for 10. Room was not ready and manager explained it is not a guarantee for that time. I didn't have a fit...it was nice outside so I went roaming and she said she would text me when ready. I'm thinking ugh it will be a couple of hours...it was barely 45 min and I "think" not sure... that I got a bigger bed. Anyway all the staff I encountered were very pleasant. I went to them for a few things and they were quite helpful in getting me what I asked for. Room was clean and the grounds are colorful. Location is good for walking around to restaurants or the waterfront. The pool is apparently heated and I saw several guests use it... next time... I am also eyeing those hammocks for when I come back. My only challenge was setting up my phone to cast on the TV. I could have called but I figured it out. Not sure if there are other options vs. casting... that would be nice but frankly I didn't watch a ton of TV. Looking forward to our next visit.

Excellent customer service from the gentleman with a beard. Very nice room and everything was so easy. This is my third time to stay here and I highly recommend!

This hotel is clean, has all the amenities and well maintained facilities. The staff were friendly and always ready to help. It is close to a lot of the usual tourist attractions. I would recommend you giving this hotel a try. General manager is customer focused and looks after their guests.

I am glad that we decided to stay here during our weekend trip to the city! The staff is helpful and friendly, the rooms cleans, and the location is fabulous. Also, it is very dog friendly! We would recommend for families with kids or dogs.
