This hotel is tacky, out of date and has a blackface sculpture in the dining hall. When we arrived, the room we got was not ready even tho we were already let up by the receptionist. We had to wait 10 minutes in front of the room while they were cleaning it, not that bad but we were a little annoyed. They finished and the room was quite cozy with a nice view and quiet. As we unpacked our things, the housekeepers told us the room won't lock. We immediately requested a new room, housekeeping said they can't help us so we went to the receptionist and they gave us a new key to another room. The new room was pretty bad. It was way smaller and the view was way worse. The balcony faced another building with another hotel, me and the hotel guests in the other hotel made awkward eye contact frequently. The balcony was also facing directly towards a loud bar, a busy pedestrian street and another bar that gave loud trashy live rock concerts all night long. Even when the windows were closed, all you could hear was the subpar singing of a middle aged man and the yapping of the drunkies right underneath our window, all until 2 AM. Next morning we went to eat breakfast at the hotel. When we entered the dining hall, we were greeted by a statue. The statue was a blackface character, painted completeley black with exaggerated red lips, holding up candles. Not only is it a racist depiction but also absolutely tacky, just like the rest of the hotel decor. Cheap old plastic angels everywhere and ugly urns that look like an advertisement for the crematory. The options at breakfast were pretty limited, it was packed and people were standing around the buffet like vultures. All in all, I would never stay at this hotel ever again. Still happy i got to experience locarno tho, what a beautiful city!

We spent 4 nights in the hotel and we were very happy with the service. It is very clean, the staff was friendy and helpfull. The room was comfortable, with a tiny balcony and amazing view to the Cardada. It is a small, historical building - don't expect a modern hotel. Due to its central location, you can hear the noise from the streets - probably not the best choice with a baby or if someone is looking for a quiet, remote retreat. The lack of airconditioning is not a problem on this climate - nights are cool and days are not extremy hot. I don't understand the lots of negative comments, it is a good place to stay with a fair price/value ratio. (make sure you book to the right section to get what you expected because they also run a tourist class motel/backpacker hostel what is cheaper but not a hotel! )

Extremely unpleasant experience: We were given rooms on the second floor in an older building separate from the main hotel building. There was one common bathroom and one common bathrooms for the entire second floor!!! Rooms were cold and uncomfortable. Phones were not working. WIFI not working and the person at the reception was not trying to help resolve this question. On the day of our arrival, we dined at the Hotel restaurant. Both the service and quality of the food were mediocre. The next morning, breakfast was very subpar. Avoid at all costs.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE - BEWARE OF THE SCAM READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING This hotel operates with TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BUILDINGS but doesn't disclose this anywhere during booking: 🏨 "Normal" building: rooms with private bathroom, elevator, modern facilities 🏚️ "Old" building: shared dirty bathrooms, NO ELEVATOR THE MAIN PROBLEM They don't ask about your needs (disability, mobility issues, etc.) and arbitrarily assign you to the old building. You find yourself having to climb 2 floors of stairs with your luggage without any warning. FALSE ADVERTISING 📱 On Booking.com: listed as "private bathroom" → FALSE if assigned to old building 🅿️ On their website: listed as "parking available" → FALSE if assigned to old building 🛗 Accessibility: no mention that one building has no elevator I was forced to immediately abandon the property without even staying overnight. When I requested cancellation and refund, it was CATEGORICALLY REFUSED. ADVICE ❌ DO NOT book if you have mobility issues ❌ DO NOT book with gift vouchers (Smartbox, etc.) ❌ DO NOT book if you have heavy luggage ❌ Verify BEFOREHAND which building they'll assign you to

The hotel has a great location in the center of the town, close to restaurants and bars, however getting to the hotel with a car is very difficult and finding parking spots is difficult as well. We were led on by the hotel, as, when booking it, it said that the hotel has free parking, however when we got to the hotel they said, they have a discount in an underground parking (15 CHF for 24 hours). We were in a room for 5 people. The room was clean, and the service in the hotel was great, however it does not have A/C and it only had three plugs in the whole room for 5 people. The breakfast was exceptional.

For it's price it's exactly what I was expecting. Clean rooms, friendly staff but don't expect any luxury. Rooms were quite sound proof. Once you close the windows you can barely hear the busy town. Location is great in the middle off the town with parking nearby.

No mini fridge or water kettle for tea lovers. No air conditioning. Balcony with view of people and cobble stone streets below. I don't think it's as bad as some of the others have mentioned, but it is hot even with the little fan on. Of you're planning on spending most of your time outside it will be better. P.s. I laughed myself silly reading 1 star reviews, I was expecting the worst for breakfast, but it wasn't bad.

Got a room for a fair price especially for Switzerland (around 75 euro) and the check in was pleasant as was the location. The building had character as well. I booked the only room without a window on accident, but it was also the only one with A/C... I regretted this decision as the A/C was very weak. Bed was a bit uncomfortable but was ok. My larger complaint is the locks on the doors. You have to lock yourself in the room with the key from the inside, which feels a bit scary in the event there was a fire or something like that. I'm not sure what Swiss fire codes are but it seemed dangerous especially for children. With fixed locks I would give 4 stars easily.
