The setting of the hotel is gorgeous!. They have a million dollar view. The hotel is away from the town; but you can catch a bus at the end of the road where hotel is located and ride to town for about 1.5 euros one way. We chose to walk. It's a nice walk. I wouldn't recommend driving to town. Parking in town is very limited. ||||There are may walks you can take in the area. I recommend (1) the Apfelweg: You walk through apple orchards. They grow apples on vines like grapes. (2) the Weinweg: You walk through the vineyards. This is a must. or (3) for a milder walk try the Falkner Promenade--all within walking distance of the hotel. If you take the Weinweg, you can catch a bus (No. 222) at the end of the walk to take you back to the hotel. ||||We booked a Double Room with a king bed with a south facing balcony. The room itself was smaller than we expected. It wasn't cramped or anything; I just thought it would be more spacious. The room had windows all along one wall with a gorgeous view of the vineyards, apple orchards and green valley to the south. The balcony was nice sized and furnished with one chair and one lounge chair. There were two easy chairs inside with a small rattan table. We had reading lights by the bed, a full length mirror, a closet with sufficient shelves, a safe, and a small refrigerator for the mini bar. The bathroom was very small and cramped. Only one of us could be in the bathroom comfortably. The shower door leaked a lot. The bed was a bit too firm for us; but it seems that that is the norm in Europe. ||||Food and service at the restaurant was very good. We loved the breakfast. They make eggs to order for you, along with all the other goodies at the buffet. Wonderful breads. At 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. they have a spread of cold cuts and cheeses, plus a variety of delicious desserts. Tea is available. You can also order drinks from the bar. This was my favorite time; but we didn't make it every day. Dinner was mostly delicious. This was not buffet. Every course was brought to the table. They normally gave you a choice of appetizer, soup, salad, entree and dessert. We had assigned tables for dinner. For breakfast we sat wherever we wanted. Dinner took at least two hours every night. There was too much time between courses; but I think that's how the Europeans like it. We were the only English speaking guests that I know of during our stay; but all the staff either knew English very well or at least enough to undertand your needs. ||||We had nice bathrobes in the room. They even had slippers that fit my husband. Normally hotel slippers are too small for him. ||||It is a very peaceful setting. We never heard any noises inside the room, except when we were on the balcony or heard other guests on their balcony when we had our sliding glass door open. ||||The hotel has a nice grassy area with lounge chairs overlooking the valley that look very inviting; but we never got a chance to use them. There is a nice garage to park your car for free. ||||We really enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again.
