Everything about this beautiful hotel and their on site restaurant was perfect. The location, staff, room , price , view and charm cannot be beat. |We ended up enjoying dinner there twice and Marco, our very personable waiter made our dining experience exceptional with his service, which was attentive and at the same time relaxing. We ordered a bottle of wine and his decanter presentation was impressive, along with people watching and the view of The Chapel Bridge from our table.

Great location, clean rooms, friendly staff, excellent restaurant. This is a beautiful historic boutique hotel that has been nicely renovated, but be prepared for the tiny elevator that typically comes with this territory and rooms that are well appointed but small by American standards. That being said, the location, views and charm make it all worthwhile. Recommended for those who are looking for authentic, old world accommodations located in the historic heart of town.

Google
We were traveling with big suitcases, hotel was in a perfect location. Service was impeccable. They were very helpful to switch our rooms before we could say much. Breakfast was tasty. Clean, comfortable and easy access to train station, restaurants and shopping. Superb view once you come out of the hotel.

Google
The location of the hotel being right in the centre of the action and near the train station was great! It is a very walkable and beautiful city. The hotel staff provided a map and explained the top things to see and do. Coupons were provided to save money at their restaurant and local transportation including taking a cruise on Lake Lucerne.

We enjoyed the Hotel Des Alpes very much! We had a balcony room that overlooked the Chapel Bridge. Everything (the town, boats, train station) was within a very short walk. The staff was friendly and helpful, helping us plan excursions. We would definitely stay here if we visit Lucern in the future.

Google
Not only was our room great with an amazing view and balcony overlooking the lake, but the hotel employees went above and beyond for us. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend. Great location, close to everything in walking distance.

Location was absolutely perfect. Room, view and restaurant|were terrific. Staff was very helpful and friendly throughout.|In fact Arbesa at the desk saved our trip when a tour|operator cancelled on us last minute ... she showed us how|to do the exact same tour (the whole reason we came to|Lucerne) on our own and it was a day to be remembered!

Google
Best location, beautiful old building, well designed, modern rooms with all the comfort you need. Very friendly, helpful staff going out of their way to accommodate our requests. Loved the experience. Great value for money.

Yelp
We stopped here for lunch along the picturesque Rathausquai. It's located west of the iconic Kapellbrücke overlooking the Reuss. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly staff, who promptly seated us at a comfortable table. The service throughout our visit was outstanding, with a very attentive waiter ensuring we had everything we needed. I decided to try "The Legendary" Cordon Bleu, which is a mouthwatering pork schnitzel layered with ham and generously stuffed with Lucerne mountain cheese, then expertly breaded and fried. It was delicious--crispy on the outside and oozing with cheesy goodness on the inside. My travel companions opted for a variety of dishes, including grilled fish, fried fish, and a rich mushroom risotto. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I highly recommend.

Yelp
We enjoyed the food, ambiance and most of all the service. Our server Marco was very polite, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The food was delicious and the presentation went well with the atmosphere. The price was very reasonable as well.

Yelp
Food gets five stars for a great chef and waiter. Hotel gets one star for curly hairs (plural) in my bed and an inhospitable response. No apology or acknowledgment - just attitude. All I needed was empathy and clean sheets and my stay wouldn't have had a huge cloud over my stay. The morning and afternoon staff were exceptional and it was a great location. I considered posting pictures, but I'll spare you that indignity!

Yelp
I'm already bookmarking this hotel to recommend and to come back to in the future. We opted for the balcony with river view and when I first got to the room, I just sat there looking at the view, incredulous at how beautiful it was. We were on the third floor, if that is helpful for anyone booking. Staff was incredibly helpful: drew on our map, made dinner recommendations, called for reservations; even offered to mail my postcards when I checked out. The location was perfect; we were able to walk to the main train station quickly, the Lion of Lucerne was a 15 minute walk, as was pretty much everything else. I will definitely book here again when I have the chance to visit Lucerne!

Yelp
This place is a disaster when it comes to customer service. The staff is rude, aggressive, and clearly has no interest in treating people with respect. It's shocking how poorly this restaurant is run. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone--save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere

Yelp
Sitting at a canopy covered table in a fuzzy chair along lake luzern with a view of chapel bridge in the drizzling rain. An unforgettable moment which would be a perfect all by itself. Throw in a Perfectly cooked ribeye, potatoes and vegetables along with a fritta the Swiss version of a shepherds pie (describes it fairly well). Great service along with a local Pinot and finishing with a Swiss Irish coffee (with schnapps) to keep you toasty inside while strolling in the rain.

Yelp
This restaurant offers some of the worst customer service imaginable. The staff is rude, unprofessional, and completely disrespectful. If you're looking for a pleasant dining experience, stay far away from this place. Absolutely unacceptable in every way

Yelp
We had a wonderful dinner at the Hotel des Alpes in Lucerne. The location and setting is perfect. It is right on the river and faces the old wooden bridge. We were able to get a table outside fairly easily, even though it was quite busy with tourists in the area. It was a chilly, rainy day and my wife had a large bowl of the hearty beef soup as a meal, I had the whitefish on risotto with Hollandaise. Both dishes were excellent. Only criticism I would have was that we were never asked if we wanted a refill of our bottle of water which we had downed pretty quickly because we had done a lot of walking that day.

Yelp
Great location and great food - service was good - not great - very much a tourist oriented location

Yelp
Be warned on this hotel 1. No air conditioning or air flow in your room on a hot summers evening. 2. No nets on the screens of the window so when you open the window for air you get bitten by mosquitoes. 3. Parking is not included and incredibly hard to navigate. This is an outrageous price for a room with no working tv, a shower I can barely move in and lackluster white walls. There are also no plugs to be found except maybe one across the other side of the room unless you want to rearrange your bed entirely. The only good thing is the decent view we're paying for but I would never book here ever again knowing what I just learned the hard way and I strongly suggest a pass on it unless your ok with paying high prices for zero amenities. I usually can find more positive in hotel reviews but I am strongly disappointed I wasted my money on this place and it's such a bummer.

Yelp
We came here because we saw all of the other patrons with cheese fondue. It was also the only place we didn't feel intimidated by and where the wait staff actually welcomed us (i think it's the culture in Switzerland to just sit yourself down but we were not accustomed to it so we waited to be seated). We ordered a rotis with the traditional cheese fondue. It was exactly what i wanted on this crisp sunny afternoon. The cheese fondue was filling, gooey and delicious. We also shared a rotis and it was perfect also. Though it was very touristy, you can get a great seat next to the water and they don't pester you to leave at all.

Yelp
No need to visit Starbucks next door. Coffee is almost espresso. Eggs Benedict were over potatoes. Wonderful.

Yelp
We stopped in to have a nice lunch and looked at the plates people were having; decided that this was the place to try. The staff was very polite and helpful. Our waitress recommended the lamb shanks with potatoes and gravy. And a white wine. We decided that this was the meal to get and, wow, we were not disappointed. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender on those delicious potatoes with a moat of brown gravy that was epic! We felt it would be a sin to leave any gravy behind, so e discreetly dabbed up the remaining bits with our delicious brown bread. Quite a meal to remember.

Thomas M.

Yelp
This place is amazing. The wait staff is very helpful and friendly. Extremely courteous in going over the menu. We had the lamb and the cordon bleu. Both were excellent. The cordon bleu however was spectacular. I would give it an 11 out of 10 if that was even possible. Was just a great lunch sitting along the river. Do yourself a favor don't even bother looking at the menu. Just get the bleu a salad and side of veggies. Couple glasses of wine and relax for an hour or so.

Yelp
Wow, what a wonderful place to stay. The front desk was so very welcoming and helpful storing our luggage upon arrival so we could begin exploring Lucern. When the weather looked iffy for Mt. Rigi, they checked the webcam and sent us above the clouds to Mt. Pilatus. What a glorious site to see bright sunshine and mountains above the clouds! The rooms were clean! The food delicious and oh my, the balcony on the river enhanced the experience. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I would say this is really a 3.5 stars and just for the restaurant. The food plus the view was great but the services was no good. The waiter that we had was rude from the very beginning before we even sat down. We told him we wanted to get seated by the water and that we were willing to wait. Instead of just being understanding, he had to make a comment that we were willing to wait to be 2 meters closer to the water. Which I thought was really rude. Then when we finally got seated I asked a question about the menu and got an attitude of "what do you mean how it works it's just that menu?" Then he kept running off as I try to make my order because I wasn't sure what to drink and would like to ask for some recommendations but there was no chance. However, the food was decent and reasonably priced. So if you're looking for somewhere with a nice view and reasonable price to eat I would recommend this place. You may be lucky and not get the rude waiter like me. I did see that the other servers were a lot better especially the manager that understood us when we told him we were waiting for the table by the water like the other customers.

Yelp
One of the best location in Lucerne. Two old but remodeled buildings. The rooms facing lake are 40-50 CHF more than those with town-street view. The room size is relatively small. No air condition :-(. Restaurant on the first floor facing the water has the best seats to view the whole Kapellbrücke and the water towel, Lucerne's landmark and the most frequently photographed monument in Switzerland. The dinner was good, and we expected a little more expensive. Breakfast (covered in room rate) on the ground floor is fantastic. You could begin your day with fresh-made bread, fruit, and coffee while sitting outside facing the beautiful Kapellbrücke. Free wifi! Highly recommended hotel!

Yelp
Loved our stay here. I haven't found a hotel in switzerland with air conditioning yet but this place is as close as it gets having two fans running in my room upon arrival! One was a new dyson fan and the other was a smaller table top fan, both sufficient to cool me down from a day on the streets of Lucerne. This hotel also has an elevator(a rarity as well) which made it a breeze to get to our fifth floor rooms. The breakfast buffet spread had options for everyone, I enjoyed the bread, cheese and hard boiled eggs the most. A great hotel in the middle of it all in Lucerne! You can literally walk to anywhere you want to go, beach, castle wall, chocolate shop, historic bridge!

Yelp
I'm giving two stars for the ambiance inside the restaurant but the food was a let down. I had there roast beef and it tasted pretty much raw and the broth had a weird after taste. I expected more from this place after seeing such good reviews.

Yelp
Cute and modern ambiance in a great location. Food was tasty and the service was excellent

Yelp
Enjoyed a lovely lunch right by the water. Wait staff was kind explaining the menu and food was good. We ate early and avoided the crowds.

Yelp
Great views, most hotel staff, with exception of some bitchiness from the wait staff in the restaurant, were service oriented people. Unfortunately, the particularly notable poor service from one guy in the restaurant tainted an otherwise excellent stay. Perhaps a bad day for him - however he was aggressive and rude, and a notable exception from the rest of the staff. The restaurant had a horrid smell most of the time, which we were told was from a cheese. Not sure why anyone would eat something that smelt like that, but to each their own. :) The rooms were well laid out, but the floors were creaky and we did have roaches. So - a great place with some warts that need addressing, and unfortunately the greatest of those is not the roaches, but the guy and his attitude in the restaurant.

Yelp
Food is excellent! Definitely try the cordon bleu and fish and chips. Wonderful view too!

Yelp
Food, views, people watching cumulated making a perfect 40th birthday for my baby brother's day. The staff and the more specifically server from Russia named Isabella made a very happy evening as well as the head server! It couldn't go better than what we had for food, smiles and views. Lucerne is a stop. But the Hotel des Alpes is a MUST STOP!

Yelp
Mainly giving the five stars for the riverfront view and for our wonderful waitress who was incredibly kind and informative while we decided what to order. The food was delicious, but what my friend really loved was the Hugo drink that we ordered which is the perfect Swiss summer cocktail. Our total bill including tip came to roughly $50 which we considered fair given the area and that it was dinnertime.

Yelp
Riverfront and FABULOUS authentic, farm-to-table Swiss cuisine with excellent service! You can't help but enjoy your meal here. Have Melinda make you a white Russian with real cream...mmm...the BEST I have ever had. Braised pork cheeks on granny's mashed potatoes with glazed carrots - EXCELLENT.

Yelp
Superb simple lunch of leek soup and mushroom risotto, prepared perfectly al dente. Kitchen knows what they are doing and execute with passion.

Kara B.

Yelp
This place was great! Expensive but pretty much everything in Switzerland is, especially when it's by the scenic waterway. We ordered the fish and chips and a cheeseburger and both were delicious! Our waitress Isabella was so nice and spoke great English. If we ever find our way back to Lucerne again we would definitely eat here.
