Hôtel des Augustins

We stayed at Hotel des Augustins for 1 night. First, the hotel lobby is beautiful! Second, the location is perfect for visiting Aix-en-Provence. It is located in the historical center and steps away from the main sites. Third, our room was so comfortable, from the roomy bedroom and bathroom. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this hotel without hesitation.

I'm writing as a Thank You to the Hotel for their kind consideration in allowing us to Cancel a reservation we had made on line, not with a booking service, in two days advance of when we were due to arrive. We decided to check out the property prior to arrival. The Hotel is on a narrow, crowded street with parking minutes away. On the way we followed Google maps and ended up in a nightmarish situation driving on a one way pedestrian only street blocking several cars going the right way. After several attempts to find the Hotel we parked several blocks away and walked. As we are both 55+ it would have been Impossible for us to transfer our luggage and have a peaceful 3 days there on this street full of cafes and noise. The Reception was extremely gracious and we so appreciated 👏 her consideration with a no charge cancellation. This would merit a good recommendation for younger guests who were intrepid and strong! Thanks again!

Very charming historical hotel. Only minus being our room was bit worn out and for some reason the lock of our room's door was super clumsy and difficult to operate. Had to ask help from cleaning lady and desk to get to our room.

We only stayed for one night, but I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. The staff was so very helpful. There was issues with international phone service, and I needed to print out tickets for our train the next day, because I wasn't getting phone service. The staff was so helpful, and printed the tickets no problem. Also when we checked in early, they clearly could see we were hot, and tired, and immediately offered us ice cold bottles of water, held our bags, and tried to get our room ready early so we could check in before we were leaving on an afternoon trip to the lavender fields. The room was lovely, one large window that looked out onto a street but there was no noise issues at all. And most lovely, was that on this very hot day, the AC was working like a charm. (We had actually stayed the previous night at a 4 star hotel in town as part of a group and had had a terrible experience, so we were thrilled to find such a charming, friendly hotel at such a better price!) Hotel staff arranged for an early taxi to train station for us, and we left before breakfast, so I can not comment on the quality of that, however, even though we were not paying for breakfast they offered us a cup of coffee as we waited for the taxi.

A nice 3 star hotel (building built in 1200's), and big rooms, slightly dated bathrooms but the only very annoying thing: a bathtub with hand held spray, with NO SHOWER curtain, so water gets everywhere!! Why they don't spend a small amount and install a curtain is beyond me??? A 3 star hotel as rated....so they are honest. Just get a shower curtain!

This hotel is totally charming and it is in a perfect location. We enjoyed the breakfast and also sitting and reading in the downstairs sitting room. Our room was listed as deluxe and it was quite large but very dark. It only had one window which looked out on a narrow interior courtyard so it got no real daylight. The website said that some deluxe rooms have terraces so we requested that, but it turns out only one room has a terrace and that one was already booked. Still we enjoyed the hotel overall.

The hotel is in an ideal location and has a nice view out of the window. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our room, however was extremely small, old and very worn out. The toilet lid was broken off, the connection of the split system of the air condition was covered with some pieces of tape and the carpet is definitely not helpful for people with allergies. The outside part of the air condition is extremely noisy (no matter whether the AC was turned off inside), so that one can't sleep with an open window. The inside part of the air condition was directed to the bed, which also does not feel very comfortable. Overall we might have had a lot of bad luck with the room. If one is more lucky than we were, then this hotel might still be a good choice in Aix en Provence.

Location is perfect, very close to all of the old part of Aix en Provence. Friendly reception staff and a beautiful lobby with relaxing chairs and beautiful surrounds. We booked a superior double room which had lots of room. Unfortunately it was quite dark as it only had one window which looked onto a narrow internal area - whilst there was no outside traffic noise, it was noisy if you left the window open as there were a number of rooms opening onto that internal area. Housekeeping was inconsistent and what I found quite odd - the sheets on the bed were too small for the large bed. However these were only minor observations and I would recommend this hotel - perhaps with an upgraded room.

There are some pros and cons to staying here. Starting with the pros. The staff were helpful, especially since I only know some French and don't speak the language. The location is wonderful with food and drink close by. The lobby is beautiful, but that's where it ends. The rooms are small and are in need of an update. I could here people talking as though they were in my room, and could here the urinal being used in the room above. I could also here the chair moving around upstairs, so I guessing there is not insulation in the walls, or any attempt at sound proofing. They had set up an office just down the hall from my room which sounded like they were having a staff meeting around 11:00 pm. Someone else mentioned the pillows which were horrible, and the mini fridge did not keep anything cold. My travel companion got a room that did not even have a shower. It had a tub with a hand held shower head to rinse off. Can't say I've ever heard of that???

Lovely staff. I've stayed here every year for years due to wonderful staff , comfort of room and approximate to many restaurants, movie theaters and shopping.

The worse hotel on planet earth! We had dirty sheets and changing the room we had dirty glasses with lip stick stains on! The room was extremely small and super old like wise as the building. The bed is from ancient ages! Probably about hundred years old and super uncomfortable so are the pillows. They were paper thin and super uncomfortable as well! Lastly I was forced to check out even though I haven't returned my key to proper check out after taking a quick walk through the city, i found my purse in the front desk! Et voila I lost and they lost my glasses case. I haven't had the chance to final look at my room. I will highly suggest anyone who is considering booking, not to and don't waste your money. My worst experience ever! The hotel doesn't even deserve one single star. So sad that the building was as beautiful as the city itself. Super disappointed!

Super nice Hotel & Price is really good. I think prices are low for this? 99 - 200 a night approx and it is right in center of town - next to Columbus coffee. beautiful lobby and people are really nice and welcoming which is had to find in France?
