"What makes this hotel stand out, among all the hotels in Paris?Prepare to live your best Left Bank life: Hôtel des Grands Hommes location on Place du Panthéon is sublime, just steps from one of the city's most iconic monuments, where a number of political leaders and literary heroes are buried. The lobby pays homage to this with a series of busts behind the check-in desk. The ground floor lounge area has plenty of comfy chairs, an honor bar, and an abundance of coffee table books to get lost in. How long has it been here?Hotel des Grand Hommes has been family-owned since it opened in 1946. Lovely. So what are the rooms themselves like? The antiques-filled rooms are so tastefully decorated that they hardly feel like hotel rooms at all. And with only 30 of them, you're bound to receive personalized attention, from check-in until check-out. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi?There's no charge. You mentioned something about breakfast... please tell us more.Breakfast is served in a stone-vaulted basement room, and there's a great selection of chewy croissants, other pastries, and plenty of strong coffee. There isn't a proper restaurant on-site, but the location in the Latin Quarter—which has an abundance of places to snack, feast, and drink at all hours of the day and night—more than makes up for it. How's the service?Every guest feels taken care of at this family-owned property. There's a reason this hotel draws so many repeat guests. What types of travelers will you find here?Travelers who don't need the glitz and glam of Paris' larger hotels and who appreciate the value of the perfect Latin Quarter location. How does the hotel mesh (or not) with the surrounding area? What is there to do nearby? The hotel is a seamless part of the neighborhood, and is just steps from numerous attractions, including the Pantheon, the Luxembourg Gardens, and all the drinking and dining options on this part of the Left Bank. Is there anything you'd change? The rooms are on the smaller side. Anything we've missed? What else do we need to know?Deluxe-level rooms have private terraces that overlook the Panthéon—a true delight to wake up to. Bottom line: Worth it? Why?This hotel offers great value for the price and a location that can't be beat." - Todd Plummer

Had a nice stay at Hôtel des Grands Hommes. Amazing staff and management team, beautiful view, perfect location, lovely bathroom. The room was very small, I understand this is standard throughout a lot of Europe but this was the smallest room we had during our travels. Breakfast isn’t really worth the price other than for the convenience. My main feedback would be to replace the pillows and to potentially provide a fan for airflow. The pillows were small rectangles and didn’t seem to have much filling at all. For most aspects this was a nice hotel. I can’t guarantee I would stay again as I would hope for a larger room elsewhere especially for the price, but that aside, it was a nice place to stay.

This was an amazing hotel across from the Pantheon. Our room had a stunning view. It was large for Paris and had a big bathroom with a shower and tub. The staff were amazing, accommodating and very professional. The front desk people especially Guille and the two ladies were friendly and made us feel welcome. I would definitely stay and recommend this wonderful boutique hotel again. We stayed for one week and everyone made us feel like family. 5 stars!

Highly recommend! :) The hotel is perfectly located, right next to the Pantheon in Paris. Some rooms offer a direct view of it. The rooms are charming, with a classic style full of character. The staff is very friendly and helpful. An ideal place for relaxation and sightseeing.

I have been here almost a month, and have thoroughly enjoyed every bit of my stay. The staff is kind and knowledgeable, my room is very French and comfy, my bath is tightly compact with every amenity I want. I was welcomed with a fruit basket, my room is cleaned as requested, breakfast is timely and well prepared. Bus lines run in front of the hotel, and if other lines are needed, they are a short distance away. The area has many good restaurants and grocers. I felt safe and well cared for here.

My wife and I had a very nice three-night stay at this Latin Quarter hotel. The location was ideal for us - a few blocks away from the river and the busy sections of the quarter, and literally across the street from the Pantheon. It is close to Sorbonne University and there are many students in the area, but we found the neightborhood to be quiet in spite of its active location.||The room was comfortable and clean. We chose a superior balcony room for the extra space and balcony. The extra space was appreciated (I do not like staying in cramped rooms, as are often found in European capitals); the balcony was not used at all (it was cold, rainy).||The staff were super friendly and helpful. The common rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. Breakfast was included, and there was enough variety and decent enough quality to keep us happy all three mornings. Overall, we are very pleased with this hotel and would gladly return.

We booked this hotel for our first time in Paris, we wanted a hotel that had a Parisian feel and look! And this hotel checked all of our boxes! The location is great, we felt safe at all times. Our room was amazing with views of the Pantheon! Their customer service is superb! Will definitely stay here again!

I stayed here a few days for a work trip and could not have been happier with my choice! It was perfectly situated for exploring when I had downtime, there are some wonderful restaurants and shops all within reasonable walking distance, and the neighborhood was quiet at night but felt very safe as well. Loved my room and having the breakfast option was a helpful start to my day. And - everyone was super friendly! Highly recommend, and would absolutely stay again!

This hotel offers a lovely backdrop to your trip to Paris. Being close to a monument makes getting back easy regardless of where you travel. Breakfast is available. There's staff act as bartenders in the common area for drinks and hot chocolate. The desk is manned 24 hrs a day with lovely staff. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Before I arrived at a very pleasant-looking boutique hotel. I had exchanged a few emails back & forth, where they offered me an upgrade for $30/ night to look at the Pantheon. I agreed. (My last hotel in 1st Arrondissement, which I LOVED 100x better, gave me a DOUBLE upgrade and breakfast daily for FREE!!) I arrived at 9:30 a.m. & they assisted me with my bags from my Uber. They said my room (31) wasn't ready, yet I called the night before, and the gal said on the phone that I could probably get the room immediately as the room was empty that night. They looked away and said they had a last-minute person come in for the room. I HIGHLY doubt that. I left for a cooking class in the morning. (Read my review for Le Foodist... incredibly great!) I returned afterward, and two younger guys were at the front desk. They told me the cost of breakfast. No worries, I'm not interested. They gave me my room number (31) & key. I went to the 3rd floor. The room had an OVERPOWERING perfume smell, triggering my asthma. I opened the windows, but the smell remained. I looked around the room for the source of my asthma trigger and spotted a diffuser on the desk. I smelled it. YEP! That was the source of that smell. Awful! I had to be on my inhaler for a few days. The room was average, although the view of the Pantheon was pretty cool. The bed was VERY poorly made, AND there was NO top sheet. You are covering yourself with the comforter that their last guest did. So gross!! My door deadbolt wasn't working. I went downstairs, and G (male employee) saw it in my room. He couldn't get it to work properly either, then he did. Finally, I pushed hard on the door. So, as far as he was concerned, there was no complaint, and he asked if we were good. He left, and I still could not get it to work. I went downstairs and was told by the other male employee. He came to my room with me. He said he would need to get maintenance. They were gone already and would be the next day. Maintenance came & he filed the door jam, but the lock mechanism was still the issue itself, per their maintenance guy. I had to shove the door with my shoulder and then turn the lock hard to get it to work. The good was the shower was new, clean, and nice. Even in the shower, the showerhead was not grimy. (My last hotel only complaint was a grimy showerhead.) I left the hotel for an evening cooking class and returned at 10:30 p.m. The front doors were LOCKED. On my 1st night, I was locked out of the building. I knocked on the doors and saw no one at the front desk. Nuts! What am I gonna do now? I searched & found what appeared to be a buzzer on one of the side walls. It was unmarked. I buzzed it 2x. Finally, the guy came in. It was partly my fault, partly theirs. When I left, I did not leave my key with the front desk, so they thought I was in the building. But in fairness, I have never been to a hotel that locked their doors or how to get the attention of their overnight staff. Okay, I learned quickly to leave my key. No more issues. The manager (lady) was friendly & wanted to discuss the emailed complaints I made about the hotel based on a survey I received during the stay. I was rushing to get places, so I would have instead discussed it without cutting into my vacation. I did bring up the issues, but no actual resolution was formed. The hotel security device I purchased on Amazon for the hotel door did NOTt work well. There was too large of a gap between the door and the framework. Frustrating, as it worked beautifully in my first hotel. Yes, the location was incredible: Pantheon in the front, the Eiffel Tower to the left in the distance, and "Emily's" apartment was on the block behind me. So, I have NOTHING to complain about. It's a beautiful area of the Latin Quarter. And close to the 6th. I loved that about this hotel. (Noisy into the night with the college kids outside, tho.) Would I stay here again or recommend it? If you love that location, I guess consider it, but bring it up & get in writing what they will do if security issues arise. See if they will also not charge you for other things, too. (My travel time was low, but I left just before the World Cup Rugby visitors arrived.) My Facebook friends got my rant LIVE when I first entered the room, but I have calmed down. Also, if you are asthmatic, ask them to get that diffuser OUT of your room to clear it! I loved Alexandra at the front desk, and the two guys ended up being very friendly, but I am also quite nice, and I did not want to ruin my vacation by having a negative feeling around anyone. I let it go. My guess is that they just had NO clue how to properly handle my situation, which is on HGH, their hotel group. 1 star for staff friendliness, 1 for location, 1 for a clean shower. 2 stars LOST for the room lock & the bed without a TOP sheet. YUCK! I chose not to delete stars for the diffuser, but what odor are they trying to cover? Well, it IS Paris... enjoy. C'est la vie!

Yelp
We stayed here while in Paris and loved it! You could not get a better location than where this hotel is situated. We were in walking distance of Saint Germain des Pres and Le Marais, along with several of the main monuments one must see while in Paris. We were also right near a metro station which made it convenient for our airport traveling to and from. The hotel was spotless and incredibly clean! The staff was very helpful and even allowed us to check in early the day we arrived. The only draw back, which is not necessarily the fault of Grands Hommes but more of a characteristic of Paris accommodations in general is that the room we had was teeny tiny. The room was extremely charming and the bathroom was a good size but we had nowhere to put our large suitcases really. Still, I'd stay here again. Staying in a place with a great location in Paris makes a huge difference when visiting.

Yelp
We stayed here for 5 nights in May 2010. Really like the location and the staff there were very friendly and helpful... Definitely 4-4.5 stars for the wonderful staff (two problems I had were that I emailed ahead to see if they had hairdryers. Was told they did not so I bought one to bring over and then found that they indeed do have them in the rooms. Also had asked for help for dinner reservations weeks in advance for a place that was written up in the NY times and was told not to worry about it and they would call for reservations when we arrived. Only to find when we is arrive that they were completely booked for the 6 days we were in town.) As for the rooms, they're nice but the decor is maybe for older people (we are in our late 30's). Also we had problems with taking showers and not getting water everywhere because of very narrow guard glass. Linens and towels were adequate but a little worn (and the bedsteads smell of vinegar). But all in all, it was fine it our trip. Probably would not be my first preference of places to stay again on my next visit to Paris but I wouldn't totally omit it.

Yelp
We loved this charming hotel in the 5th Arrondissement. The hotel itself was adorable, every inch of the room was decorated with colorful accents and details, and there were also important technologies like free (very good, fast) wifi and a fridge in the room. Hotel rooms in Paris are not huge, but we were comfortable as two people in a standard room and the bathroom was very large, especially compared to the other hotel we stayed in. As for the neighborhood -- for food, there's a bakery behind the the hotel with great bread and pastries for breakfast, Rue Soufflot nearby has an excellent creperie and some other good restaurants, the Mouffetard Market is walking distance with lots of restaurants and shops. For sites, Luxembourg Garden, Shakespeare and Company, Notre Dame are walking distance and for other sites you can get on several different metro lines close by. Oh, and the Pantheon and Sorbonne are right across the street from the hotel.

Yelp
I enjoyed my stay here very much and would recommend it to people. I loved the little touches they put like a rose petal on the towel. They are very hospitable and seem to enjoy what they do. The location was good for me. The metro is close by, only 5 min away near Luxemburg Gardens. The breakfast was great. Love their coffee. Also close to some pretty good restaurants.

Yelp
First trip to Paris and trying to pick a hotel was a bit daunting. We finally settled on the Hotel des Grands Hommes - the location looked excellent, the rooms looked charming, and the entire hotel seemed to have that classic Parisian feel we were looking for. We couldn't have been happier with our choice. We spent six nights here and loved every minute of it (including the surprising view of the Eiffel Tower from the street out front). Front desk staff were always available and very helpful (they speak English, but are also happy to help you practice your French). The rooms are small, as is to be expected at this price point in Paris, but well appointed (desk, fridge, tv, phone, two chairs, two closets, AC and a safe). Like others have mentioned, a big suitcase will be a hassle in these rooms. We had one and ended up unpacking it right away and stowing it for the duration of our stay. Otherwise, the bed was excellent - we slept great. The room had two sets of those quintessential French windows that nearly reach from floor to ceiling. We loved coming back to the room and throwing those open to catch some fresh air and take in the action in the Place du Pantheon. One bonus of this hotel is that being Pantheon adjacent not only offers great views, but provides great light in your room (not always the case in the Latin Quarter's narrow streets). We didn't have any problems with noise coming from outside. The windows are well glazed and while there is definitely action most of the day and night outside, it didn't bother us in the least when the windows were closed. This hotel is well situated to take advantage of Paris. The Luxembourg RER metro stop is a five-minute walk (if you're traveling light, this would be a very doable option to get to the hotel from Charles De Gaulle airport). Closer to home, you can easily walk to Notre Dame, the Marais, St. Germain des Pres. There are plenty of restaurants in the area as well - we only left the arrondissement once for dinner. A few of our neighborhood favorites included Le Perraudin, La Vin Qui Danse and the Boulangerie Moderne. Also be sure to check out the Rue Mouffetard with its fabulous food market. One quirk that we didn't catch on to right away here was that the key functioned both as a means to unlock the door and also the way to turn on the lights. There is a small slot near the door that you slip the key into to engage the lights. It took us a few minutes to figure that one out. Also, note that you leave your key at reception anytime you leave the hotel.

Yelp
Nice, old boutique French hotel with plenty of character. Keep in mind the rooms are extremely small. There were three if us traveling together and we had to maneuver to get around our luggage and each other during our stay. The elevator holds only four people and is very slow. If the elevator is being used, your option is to use the winding staircase and if your room is on the fifth or sixth floor, be sure you are in good shape before you tackle the winding stairs. I found the week day staff helpful and eager to please and offer suggestions. I had a real problem with the weekend staffer when my daughter called down for coffee around 11:30am on the weekend and was told that she would have to come and get it - there is no room service for coffee after 10:30am?? He ended up bringing coffee to our room, but we were afraid to drink it thinking of what he might have done to the coffee on the way up. Also, if you stay out late, there is no one at the desk when you return to your room. They don't explain that the room key also controls the lights. When you enter your room, you slide it into a slot and can activate the lights (cost saving feature). The towels were very worn and it's hard to keep the water in the shower due to the 1/3 glass door on the tub. Be very sure to check your bill - I was charged for items that we did not use (drink) and had to have the bill redone. All in all it was a good experience although I wouldn't stay there again and the view from the hotel is quite nice. There are a lot of good, local restaurants in the area so be sure to get suggestions from the staff. Also note that there is a university and law school across the street and the kids tend to stay up very late congregating, drinking and playing music.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay here at this hotel. It is located in the Latin Quarter so there are tons of cafe's, restaurants, shopping and tourist attractions within walking distance. If you need to take the metro the bus and train are both about a block away. The hotel had great charm. The breakfast attendant /chef was so nice and her food was great. All hotels in France are smaller than what we are used to in the states, but this one was perfect size for us since we spent most of the day out and about and didn't come back until after dinner. The air conditioning was great (trust me other places air condition in France is not great). There is a 60 acre park a few blocks away that we loved having lunch in and people watch. I would highly recommend this hotel for couples if your site seeing, or a foodie. We were so nervous about picking a hotel since we had never been to Paris before, I am so glad we ended up picking this one, it made our trip.

Yelp
I absolutely loved, loved, loved this hotel. The staff was friendly (yes, friendly staff in France!!!), clean room and bathroom. The breakfast was delicious! I ordered the bread, jam, fruit salad, and coffee, it was AMAZING!!! I highly recommend this place.
