Hôtel des Horlogers

I am a small business in Canada sending one of my engineers for a training course in Geneva. Had booked 5 nights accommodations through bookings.com. On the date of travel we learned our employee required a visa to enter Switzerland. We quickly contacted the manufacture providing the training, Air Canada and bookings.com to reschedule the travel dates allowing enough time to obtain the necessary visa. The training provider, Air Canada and Bookings.com all understood the situation which was not in our control and were ok to reschedule with out penalty. Hotel Des Horlogers took the entire $1600 prepaid for the accommodations stating we did not meet Bookings.coms cancellation policy. I sent them a copy of Bookings.coms agreement to refund and rebook with out penalty and I offered to pay to hotel one nights accommodation as a penalty for the short notice. the Manager Tamour Cheema replied. " For lighter cancellation conditions and better rates, the WALMING Group suggests you make a reservation directly with the hotel during your next stay". To be clear Bookings.com had agreed to the penalty free rebooking. The Hotel took the entire $1600 and I am sure had the room rebooked doubling the revenue on the room that week. I did some searches and it appears this is a common business practice of this hotel to take advantage of out of country travelers in similar circumstance's. I would recommend staying away from this hotel as i suspect all of their policies are not customer oriented. We did rebook the travel and sent our employee to the training in Geneva staying at another hotel. We also had our training host remove the hotel from its list of recommend places to stay in Geneva. WE are reaching out to the Switzerland Tourism authority to report the questionable integrity of this Hotels and its management.

It is a nice and quiet hotel. Our room was comfortable and had access to a cute garden. It is not located in the city center but it is very well connected (both to the city center and to the airport), and you can reach Carouge on foot, a neighborhood that is really worth visiting. And last but not least, the staff was just superb: thank you very much for your attention and care.

I booked this hotel after my flight home from Geneva was cancelled and I was told all other flights that evening were fully booked. All other hotels in Geneva had no availability due to an event happening in the city so I was forced to book this one, despite the extortionate price of £722.56 (7x normal rate). Moments after completing the booking, my airline called me to tell me there had been a last minute cancellation on the final flight of the day, meaning I would make it home after all. Just seven minutes after completing my booking, I called the hotel to explain the situation, expecting there to be absolutely no issues cancelling given the timeframe and circumstances. However, I was simply told ‘the policy is the policy, we do not accept cancellations’. I escalated the situation to the hotel manager the following day, who told me the decision on whether to refund me needed to be made by the ‘director’ of the company and assured me that this so-called ‘director’ would get back to me as soon as possible. After a few days of hearing nothing, I called the hotel manager and he told me the director would send me an email ‘tomorrow’. Another few days later and I had still heard nothing so called the hotel manager again, who told me once again that the director would get back to me ‘tomorrow’. A couple of days later, extremely frustrated at the situation, I called the hotel manager again. Before I could even finish my sentence, he told me in a very harsh, rude tone that ‘the answer is no, the policy is the policy’. ||The way the hotel handled the situation made it completely evident that there is no care for customers whatsoever. I personally don’t believe the so-called ‘director’ ever existed and instead, the hotel saw an opportunity to take advantage of a young woman in a very unfortunate situation and make the easiest £722.56 they have ever made. ||I would encourage anyone considering staying here to avoid at all costs.

I have an issue with my reservation and they are supporting Booking to perform the necessary adjustments, demonstrating great partnership and aiming for the best customer experience. I’m really happy that we chose Hotel Des Horlogers to take our deserved vacations and I’m now even more confident that they will do their best to ensure I have the best experience possible.

Very good hotel for watch enthusiasts, as it is located in the heart of a great watchmaking area, with many important manufactures nearby. Also, the hotel is like a little watchmaking museum too, with many tools and instruments in nice displays, distributed along the majority of its public areas, including the restaurant (where you can enjoy a typical and delicious Swiss breakfast surrounded by displays of old watchmaking tools!). The rooms are very clean and comfortable and my room in particular had direct access to a beautiful little garden, where you can read a book, enjoy a drink or a cigar (or everything together!) when the weather allows it. Definitely high recommended!

Good place for short business trip. However it is still a small hotel without any additional facilities. Rooms are perfectly cleaned every day and the breakfast is great. You have to be aware that there is no actual A/C (just an electric fan) so during the summer is very hot.

Breakfast was great, but the rooms are very small although clean. Very few English TV channels. Very impersonal experience - no reception when you arrive or other interactions. Would not recommend for holiday makers, rather business trips or short stays.

Stayed here for 4 nights , warm friendly staff, room well priced and comfortable with large bed . Breakfast selection was good and not fussy. It is a 3 star establishment and a ‘Theme’ hotel. For those guests interested in Clocks this is the place to visit . On all floors and the breakfast area is clocks and clock components including the instruments and tools associated with them . |One down side - there are NO television stations in English at all but other languages are all catered for. This was disappointing but is a management issue they need to address. |I would certainly return as the bus service is outside the door straight into Geneva city in 20 min.
