Hôtel des Patients, a Design Boutique Hotel Lausanne, Switzerland

"Hôtel des Patients is situated in a quiet area in Lausanne, on the grounds of the CHUV university hospital center. The hotel has a terrace and views of the lake, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant or a drink at the bar. The hotel is the first of its type in Switzerland, combining accommodation for guests and patients at the same time. All rooms have a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom. Some rooms have a seating area where you can relax. A terrace or balcony are featured in certain rooms. You will find a 24-hour front desk at the property. The M2 metro station is right next to Hôtel des Patients and the main train station, the lake and the city centre are reachable within a few minutes." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

This CHUV-linked property is pretty new (opened in 2016, I believe) - modern, functional, and of course, clean. Nursing staff is on-site and available 24/7. The personnel are friendly and professional. The food is pretty good. However, inexplicably and quite shockingly for a facility mostly housing patients recovering from major surgery or undergoing some kind of treatment at the CHUV, the rooms are NOT air conditioned. The main lobby and restaurant may be (or at least have some kind of air circulation system), but to me, this is a scandalous outrage. My husband’s room (he’s recovering from heart bypass surgery) for four nights is terribly stuffy and hot, and it’s still June! And also, NO fans are provided in the rooms. Makes me furious.

Don’t go by positive reviews if you are looking for hotel as tourist. These positive reviews are either from patients or business folks. Rooms are spacious but lack basic amenities such as coffee maker, mini fridge and fan in room. Ventilation is there but no air conditioning. We have booked two rooms and were provided with one fan only. The rooms are within the hospital complex (most likely to supplement hospital income) and rooms are designed for patients. Unless you are seeking medical treatment, I would not recommend this hotel.

Located inside hospital complex. We can see many new born babies in this hotel The location is just next to the CHUV Metro station. Rooms are huge like big houses, overlooking Lake Laussane... Amazing view.. Cleaning team is superb. Lots of accessories in the room. Restaurant is beautifully designed, has a great view and great spread.. Great hospitality... Very polite, helpful and professional staff

Everything was great. Great facilities, great service with good explanation of the area and what to think about if you are visiting Lausanne. Parking cost 20CHF however it's safe in the garage that is placed under the hotel which you easily can access with the elevator. The nice man at the reception explained that even after check out we could leave our car in the garage untill the afternoon. There is a few spaced outside the hospital but you can only park untill 8 am. Very close to the train station etc. You can buy a Socket adapter at a vending machine near the reception, the staff will help you. The breakfast was 10/10. Also the room had a great view of the lake

We hadn’t really appreciated that the hotel was linked to a hospital so that was a surprise, but honestly what a lovely place. The staff were amazing, the room was huge and that view… wow.

This restaurant is run by a great team who work hard to give guests a great time. Whether you're staying at the lovely, calm "Hotel des Patients" or just want to treat your loved ones to a weekend away from life at the hilltop of Lausanne. This place and its staff will make sure you will have a memorable experience. I can tell you that their food is really high quality because I had a long weekend staying there and I ate at their restaurant a lot. It's not just the food, it's also the atmosphere of mindfulness they create. While their excellent chefs are busy preparing your healthy, delicious food, you'll be surrounded by lovely people: mothers and fathers, families and friends. What makes this place stand out is that it offers a safe space to recover from health challenges. Or, just to give you and your family/friends some time to yourselves. Their main dishes are all really tasty. My favourites were: "Entrecôte parisienne de bœuf suisse", or their classic "Caesar salad". With so many tempting desserts to choose from, the "Coupe Sorbet" from the "i gelati" (ice creams) menu is a must. It's super delicious and satisfying! Go there, and amaze yourself and the people you care about: Do you need more time to perhaps regain your health? Then you could stay at their hotel, especially if you need a team of really professional nurses to take care of your health day and night for a while.

I stayed at this hotel for three nights while visiting Lausanne from England for medical treatment. I was assisted at reception on Tuesday, 1st April, by a tall gentleman whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch, his service was outstanding. However, I feel it’s important to mention that his colleague, Aurorasessa, may need to review her customer service approach. Many of your guests, like myself, are here for hospital treatment and would greatly benefit from a more supportive and empathetic attitude, which I felt was lacking in her case. On a positive note, Alexandra and Zindin were absolutely wonderful bless them! The staff in the breakfast and lunch area were also incredibly friendly and welcoming. Thank you for making parts of my stay comforting during a challenging time.

The location was very good. Couple of minutes from metro station. So it was very easy to go to old town or to the lake. Rooms clean and nice.
