Hotel Des Puig, Deia, Mallorca - Explore & Book

"This small hotel known as the 'Hotel on the Hill' has been taking in guests since the early 1900s. It has long attracted bohemians, artists and writers (including DH Lawrence, Arthur Rackham and Manuel de Falla), and features in a short story by Robert Graves and in Gordon West's 1929 travelogue Jogging Around Majorca. The Hotel D'es Puig of today is a simple, relaxed and intimate affair with rustic guestrooms owned by Mallorquin Jaime Pujol and managed by Lucien and Ana Maria. Life doesn't get much better than spending a lazy afternoon here, reading under a lemon tree by the swimming pool with fabulous mountain views. After a short flight, a 40-minute drive from the airport and no hassle, you are in heaven. There's no restaurant, but this doesn't matter as Deia has an excellent selection of cafes and superb restaurants. And for families (with quiet children) the 2-bedroomed Penthouse Suite with its own kitchen and living room is ideal. For those on a tighter budget, there are also simpler self-catering apartments on offer, just around the corner. Highs One of our favourite places to stay in Mallorca - not because it is luxurious, more that it is informal, friendly, and set in the heart of idyllic Deia Excellent restaurants just a short stroll away Its swimming pools with stunning mountain views - a rarity in Deia if you don't want to splash out on the five-star La Residencia or the rather bland Es Moli Affordable rates for Deia, which include an ample breakfast, an honesty bar and self-service tea and coffee (hotel rooms only) The self-catering apartments make a good budget option for families (note breakfast is not included). They are a 2-minute walk from the hotel but you can use the hotel pool Lows Parking and driving in Deia's windy streets is tricky, but the hotel has some parking spaces close by No 24hr reception so you'll often need to ring the bell on the front desk for assistance and late check-ins need to be pre-arranged Many of the bedrooms and bathrooms are small with showers only and single beds pushed together to make doubles (book a Junior Suite for more space) Rooms at the front can sometimes suffer from noise in high season" - Nikki Tinto

This hotel is in a wonderful location; close to the Belmond for drinks and just a short walk into town. The pool is lovely, and the gym is excellent by European standards. The real highlight was the breakfast buffet: an unbelievable spread that we looked forward to every morning. Parking, however, was a bit of a nightmare, and clearer instructions beforehand would have helped. The waitstaff at breakfast felt a little distant and quite cold, though the gentleman at the front desk was exceptionally kind and welcoming. The rooms are on the smaller side, but they are comfortably decorated. Despite a few challenges, we would happily stay here again.

Great little hotel in the heart of Deia. The room was lovely - improved with a private terrace. The honesty bar was welcome (cash only) and the drinks we had were of good quality. The reception and cleaning staff were friendly and very helpful. The only slight frustration was the 0830 breakfast start which meant we struggled to fit it in on occasion with no flexibility. I realise this is unlikely to be an issue often. I would recommend without hesitation to friends and family.

This isn’t our first time staying at this hotel, and it certainly won’t be our last. My husband and I stayed here multiple times, and it continues to be our top choice every time we visit. The views alone are absolutely stunning, no comparison. What truly sets this visit apart, though, is the exceptional service. Lucien, who manages the property, goes above and beyond in all situations, handling everything with warmth, professionalism, and care. It makes such a difference to be looked after by someone who genuinely wants guests to have the best experience. Props to the entire hotel staff for that. Highly recommend this hotel that never disappoints. A true hidden gem.

What a fantastic little hotel. A quaint, well kept gem. Felt very much at home, great air conditioning, exceptional bed. Great showers, very clean. Both pools are excellent. Breakfast was small but really great too. Absolutely no complaints. Couldn’t be anymore central to Deià.

We spent 3 nights staying in the apartments. The flats were great. The staff at the hotel were friendly and very helpful. The living space and kitchen was clean and a good size with a lovely balcony and amazing views. We had the hotel breakfast every day which was such a delicious treat. The breakfast is served on the lovely terrace. The two swimming pools were great and very relaxing. The atmosphere of Hotel Des Puig was calm, welcoming and we really loved it here. A true gem in Deia. We will be back again in a few months for sure!

While I enjoyed my stay I need to be honest that this hotel has major accessibility issues. The car park is no where near the hotel and either requires very skillful driving up a narrow hill to drop the bags or you need to carry them up a huge hill. I was also given a room with no lift access even though I had a 25kg case and offered no help to carry it up stairs. I asked for a different room and was told there was no others rooms but I could clearly book 3+ rooms on the website. Customer service lacking. Not very accessible unless you have travel light!

The Hotel Des Puig, its service, staff, location and rooms were one of the highlights of our trip to Mallorca. Staying here is different from just visiting the beautiful village of Deià. Staying here you start to feel a real connection to the town and by the end of your stay you don’t want to leave. When we come back to Mallorca we will definitely be staying here again.

We’ve visited Deia twice before but to rented accommodation. Our first stay at the Hotel Des Puig was excellent. The hotel is charming, quiet and perfectly placed, staff were professional, friendly and efficient. Our room no 35 (superior double) was a good size, clean and had everything we needed. We loved the large balcony with amazing views. The only slight criticism was that the balcony furniture was tired and there could have been some more moveable balcony furniture. The breakfast was great, full of healthy local produce and we loved the well stocked honesty bars. We look forward to returning.
