I can’t say enough wonderful things about this hotel. The location was perfect, walking distance from everything. The people working at the hotel were the nicest and most helpful ever. The bed and towels were great and the breakfast (included!) was delicious. It’s located in an old mansion, but the bathroom was modern, the room was huge, there were plenty of fluffy towels, there was a shelf in the bathroom, we had loads of storage, and the view from the window was beautiful. There’s even a small gym. .

A Perfect Blend of History, Comfort, and Location From the moment we arrived, the staff at Hotel Deutscher Kaiser were absolutely incredible—warm, welcoming, and always eager to help. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality made our stay even more special. The location is unbeatable—just steps away from St. Lorenz Cathedral and within easy walking distance of Nuremberg’s most famous landmarks, including the Hauptmarkt, the Imperial Castle, and the bustling shopping streets. Whether you’re here for sightseeing, business, or simply to soak in the city’s rich history, you couldn’t ask for a better base. The rooms are spacious, elegantly decorated, and impeccably clean. The mix of historic architecture with refined details creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. The beds are comfortable, ensuring a restful night after exploring the city. Breakfast was another highlight—fresh, delicious, and served in a charming setting, making every morning a treat. If you’re looking for a boutique-style hotel with character, comfort, and an unbeatable location, Hotel Deutscher Kaiser is the perfect choice. Can’t wait to return!

Wonderful, historical hotel in the heart of Nürnberg. 5 star level hotel. Excellent service, spotless premises and beautiful ambient through the original furniture and decoration. A must, when in Nürnberg!

This is a grand historic hotel. The location cannot be beat- right in the heart of Old Town and in walking distance to all the sites. It is just a 5 minute walk from the train station. The room was very clean and spacious with large windows. The breakfast buffet provided great variety and the lady serving the guests was always polite and welcoming. We arrived by train about 3 hours before check-in, but our room was available and we were able to get right in. The elevator is a bit tight, but really not a problem. I would stay here again.

The hotel has old school grandure, set in the heart of the Altstadt. From the ease of parking the car directly behind the hotel, to finding our lovely room on one of the top floors which had a double aspect of the historic centre, the stay was excellent.||The room was really very comfortable and it was delightful to sit in bed and see the town below with the pleased aesthetic nature of the Altstadt. The windows were double glazed, so no trouble with noise in the evening. ||The breakfast was delicious, beautifully laid out and with a very good choice. The lady who served us, Alma was charming and her hard work had not gone unnoticed by myself and my husband. Thank you Alma. Also the front of house gentleman who checked us in was extremely helpful during our entire stay. |If you want to explore Nuremberg from a central position and you want comfort in a grand setting, this is a very good choice of hotel. We would definitely return.

Fantastic old hotel right in the middle of Nuremberg. The owner is private and very welcoming and accommodating. Helped us with any questions, and held our bags for us to walk around town. Would definitely stay again. It's perfect to visit the Altstadt.

The good is the location is great. Right near the Hauptbahnhof so easy to transit from the airport or regional train lines. It’s a short walk to Hauptmarkt and anywhere in old town up to the north. The breakfast was also good with lots of selection. ||The bad: the customer service is significantly lacking comparing to other German hotels and cities. I arrived early morning to drop off bags, knowing that you can’t check in until 3. Called someone (male) down to the desk and before any greeting was abruptly questioning why I am trying to check in. I wasn’t, but their site says they offer luggage storage. I go off adventuring and come back at 3 and waited in an armchair. The receptionist (also male) ignored me. I left it about ten minutes as might be busy, no just ignoring me. So I ask to check in. He says he isn’t sure if the room is ready and leaves reception to physically walk upstairs. If you advertise 3, be ready for 3. PM his is one example of how the service was perfunctory and not warm and welcoming and customer focussed like so many other wonderful experiences I’ve had in Germany. ||Also while the hotel has some charm due to the history of the place, there is a difference between vintage splendour and vintage unkempt. This hotel is the latter. So much potential, but clear they are just trying to make a buck with as little upkeep as possible. Everything is threadbare. Probably wouldn’t stay again, for the price.

Lovely historic hotel in the heart of old town. 5 minutes from the train station. Great communication with the hotel before and during our stay. Suite 17 was roomy and quiet. Comfortable beds and all amenities you need. No air conditioning, but that was not an issue during our stay. Would definitely stay there again.

Yelp
We've stayed there a few times because the staff is very nice. But unfortuately, we've had a first-hand incident when the owner was very dishonest. His business practice was not only poor but dishonest, insincere. He also hid from concern and passed it onto his staff and simply didn't reply. We cannot support this dishonest owner any more.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The front desk workers, breakfast servers, maids, everyone was so nice and friendly and happy to help. The breakfast was phenomenal, and was in the cutest room. The whole hotel felt like a castle. I seriously would want to like have my wedding there or something. I felt like a princess the whole time and it wasn't even that expensive! The room had good heating, lots of charm, a comfortable bed, a TV, and a very nice bathroom. I wish the gym had a treadmill, but frankly I'm happy they had a gym at all with a bike. I really have no complaints. Everything about this hotel was wonderful. And if you're wondering about the location, don't worry for a moment. It's about a three minute walk from the train station (I know what you're thinking, but I promise this train station isn't dodgy at all and there are no bad characters hanging around, so it's totally safe!) sits in the middle of the wonderful Main Street for shopping, Christmas markets, and fruit stands. It's right by a few museums, too! You honestly couldn't ask for a better location. The walls were thick in the hotel so you never heard a sound from the street or other rooms either. Again, this was one of the absolute best hotels I've ever stayed at in my life.

Yelp
Hotel Deutscher Kaiser This lovely hotel is located in a prime location within the walls of the Old Town. All the attractions are within walking distance. Our suite #54 was quaint, comfortable and overlooked the front of the hotel. The breakfast is adequate and served in a pleasing room by charming hostesses. They offer eggs made to order and speciality coffee as well. Our stay was simply wonderful and the entire staff from the front desk to the Manager were courteous, professional and above all understanding and friendly. Stay here. You will love it. .

Yelp
3rd year staying here on the family vacation. I couldn't stay anywhere else in the Nürnberg Altstadt but here. It's a historic building built in the 1800s, and it was always a hotel. Very clean. Hardwood floors. Excellent breakfast (German).

Yelp
I loved our stay here. Great location, right next to the train station. The bathroom was unique and everything was clean and well maintained. The free daily breakfast was the best I've ever had. Huge selection of cold cuts, cheeses, pickled vegetables, pastries, scrambled eggs, you name it. Employees were hospitable and accommodating.

Yelp
Beautiful old hotel with very friendly check in. Smaller rooms, but. No big deal. Very clean and old school. Great location, but parking was a little rough. Lots of food and shopping nearby. The hotel breakfast was fantastic. One of the best I've had in Europe. I loved the antique furniture in the common areas. Lucy and Ricky style beds, which I don't mind at all. Great place to stay!

Yelp
A very old style looking building. We were greeted warmly and welcomed to the city. Our rooms were clean, quite small but I don't consider that too much of an issue. The beds were comfortable. We had a room that overlooked out on to the Main Street which was very please and in the balmy weather we had to sit and watch people go by. Very convenient location, the only thing we had an issue with was the parking - hotel Parking was full so we had to use a public space at 16 euros a day, not too bad but annoying since the hotel advertises parking. We initially thought we'd get our laundry done here too - waaaay too expensive so went to a great laundromat about 1.5km away.! Overall we had an enjoyable stay!.
