On the Grid : To Je To

"Tucked away on a tiny dead-end street off the Marmont Street is what I can only describe as Split’s neighborhood international hole-in-wall bar. The cozy interior is always buzzing with a myriad of languages, as it is a favorite among locals and visitors. The bartenders are always friendly and welcoming, and occasionally, the owner’s dog hangs out too. From traditional brandies to the largest selection of Croatian craft beers to coffee from local roasters, To Je To ("That's it" in Croatian) has got it all covered. With regular live music performances, trivia nights and karaoke nights, it is always fun to bring a group of friends and mingle over a few beers." - Leslie Yeh

We had a room booking error with this hotel. We tried to resolve the issue with the hotel management via several emails ( no response ) and multiple visits to the front reception to speak to the manager. Of course the manager was never available to speak with us. After several months of our travel agent trying to intervene for us, the hotel refused any compensation or refund. They told lies about actions and conversations that my husband and I apparently had with their staff. |I would never recommend this hotel. |If you have any kind of customer relation issues they have dishonest principles and lie to justify their greed. |I can’t overlook the small rooms now and the noisy courtyard that is adjacent to the hotel nor the bugs and flies that were present on the breakfast buffet.

First let me start with the good : the location is great. It's right in the old city! Right in the palace walls. (Beware if you have a lot of luggage though! There are steep steps and lots of obstacles when you have large luggge and the directions to get to the hotel are a bit fuzzy).||The rooms and bathroom was clean. The decor was quirky but fun. ||The bad : the staff was not very helpful. We booked directly through the hotel for the Jupiter side of the hotel (we preferred the decor) but instead were on the Diocletian side. Not a big deal, but when I asked the woman at the front desk she rolled her eyes and said "it's the same thing". (This was a heavier brunette woman.) additionally we were told there was only one iron in the entire hotel which also, was not true. ||Breakfast was very limited. In all, this hotel was not worth the price tag. It was high season, and we were in the palace - but we expected more from a "luxury" hotel.

This hotel is situated not far from the main entrance into Diocletian's Palace. It is a fantastic spot for visiting the old town early in the morning and the evening when the crowds are less. The staff were fantastic. The rooms are a little small, though there is not much that can be done about that inside the old walls. Our room was also modern in style and not what we expected from the hotel's photos on its website. The bathroom was quite grand. It's probably best to have breakfast elsewhere. On balance, this is a nice hotel with a fantastic location, but somewhat pricey for what you get.

We had no idea that this hotel was inside the Diocletian City walls, so when we inquired about parking and told to find a parking place and call them - that it was going to be a few phone calls later that we actually got to the hotel. But it was worth it. It’s just off the seafront and adjacent to the Temple of Jupiter. The room was small, a tiny bathroom with a shower inside the bathtub. Despite being inside the city walls, it was quiet at night and buffet breakfast was delicious. Huge choice and a fabulous coffee machine! The location of the hotel is perfect. The hotel does have parking, and the receptionist will move your car to their spaces which are cheaper than the public parking nearby.

I was very disappointed with this hotel. It was by far the worst one we stayed in, while in Croatia. I appreciate that you have to pay a bit extra to stay right in the heart of the palace, but it really wasn't worth it. ||||The staff seemed almost irritated to have to deal with you. The rooms were very small, and not like the pictures on the websites. The aircon in our room was between the curtain and the window, so we had to leave the curtain open all night - not a big deal, but a strange place to put the air con, and it meant the room wasn't dark in the morning. I have to say the bed was very comfortable, which was great. The breakfast unfortunately was of a very low standard, and I really feel sorry for anyone who booked half board at this hotel. ||We did have a beautiful bathroom, but very bizarrely there was a see through glass door and wall, between the bathroom and the bedroom! My husband and I thought it was funny - but it wouldn't be great on your first romantic weekend away as a couple!||||If you are going to pay this much money for a hotel, I would recommend staying slightly out of the old town, and not wasting cash on this complete tourist trap.

Firstly we were traveling for 6 weeks so had a lot of luggage, we were put on the top floor which after a few floors the lift didn't go any higher so we had to lug it up two flight's of stairs. we Had a renovated room which had a balcony, so that was nice, but when you were in the lovely bathroom, when you opened the blind, there was a spa outside with people in it, so no privacy. When it was time to leave there was no one to help us with our luggage.

Stayed here for 1 night on the last day of my honeymoon and loved it! Very different style of hotel but that just made it really special. Impeccably clean white marble bathroom with jacuzzi bath - excellent. They do breakfast but had an early flight to catch so left before without trying it but if it was up to the standard of the rest of the hotel I'm sure it would have been lovely.

Not only because it is in the middle of the Diocletian Palace, few steps away from Jupiter’s Temple, but because it has all this charm in itself with all the commodities of this days. Beautiful rooms. Only problem is a very small and slow elevator but manageable. Best of all the front desk employees. Not only very helpful and always eager do the extra thing, but always with a sincere smile (not very common in this area). With no doubt this is a hotel I will love to stay in again.
