Hotel was very clean and staff were friendly and helpful. The view from the rooftop bar is incredible. We booked a room with a patio, which is on the same floor as the rooftop bar (highly recommend). Great location for shopping and restaurants! We were also close enough to walk to the castle (a little hike up the hill) and the train station (Cais do Sodre), which we took the train to Caiscais for a day at the beach (recommend as well but go early enough to get a spot on the beach, umbrella rentals were sold out by 11 am). We would definitely stay here again!

We treated ourselves to the luxury of a terrace room and didn't regret it for a minute. The room was very clean, large and comfortable with a big bed and a large bathroom. The small terrace with seating is unbeatable. Despite the somewhat unstable weather, we were able to enjoy the terrace and spent a lot of time outside with a wonderful view over Lisbon.|The hotel impresses with its perfect location and the extremely warm and friendly staff. You are in the immediate neigborhood of the Elevador de Santa Justa, in the center of one of the most famous shopping streets, central to many good restaurants (ask for recommendations) and directly at a metro station. If you are a good walker, many sights are also within walking distance. |We particularly liked the bright breakfast room with its gigantic window and impressive view over Lisbon. Another plus point is the rooftop bar, which is a wonderful place to end the day with a glass of wine.||For us, there was only one small point of criticism: for a hotel in this price range, the “carpet on carpet” solution is not at all acceptable. And the carpeting has already seen its best days. Despite excellent room cleaning, we unfortunately cannot recommend room 714 for house dust allergy sufferers.

Truly amazing stay at this wonderful hotel. Beautiful room on the 7th floor with the terrace is worth the extra cost. Excellent breakfast, fabulous staff and comfortable beds. Highly recommend. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you Hotel do Chiado!!!

The hotel is immaculate. The staff are amazing. Within one day they addressed me by name. The rooftop bar has great views. The location is perfect. Do not expect a big lobby but rather expect an amazing stay. During the country wide power outage the staff kept us informed, provided bottled water free of charge, and apologized profusely even thought they had nothing to do with causing the power outage.

What a wonderful hotel. Location, staff and views from our beautiful terrace room. The Additional touches to celebrate my husband’s birthday were wonderful. This was a special stay and we will certainly return. Simply wonderful and highly recommended. Thank you Hotel do Chiado

My parents just returned from Hotel do Chiado and couldn’t have been happier with their stay. The staff took wonderful care of them — always friendly, welcoming, and professional. Their superior double room was spacious, with a large and comfy bed, and most importantly, it had a fantastic view of São Jorge Castle and the old city. They especially loved the breakfast and they were impressed by how clean and well-maintained everything was. The hotel’s central location made it easy for them to explore Lisbon. As this was their first trip without us children, I was a bit nervous, but the hotel staff was incredibly responsive to my requests beforehand. They even made sure my parents got a room with a view, just as I asked. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Hotel do Chiado for making my parents’ trip so special and unforgettable!

This is a lovely hotel set right in the heart of Lisbon. Just a short walk from all the main attractions and shops. The rooms are large, well maintained and very comfortable. We had a premium room with a terrace over looking the St Jorge Castle. It was a bit chilly in March but very nice to sit out in the afternoon for a drink before going out for dinner. The welcome drink, pastel de nata and the bottle of wine left for us in the room were nice touches. What really makes the hotel special are the staff. The reception team, waiters, bar staff and the maids were so friendly and could not do enough for you. I didn’t get anyone’s name but the help from the front desk when we needed advice on where to go and how to get there was excellent. If you are staying in Lisbon this is the perfect place to spend a wonderful city break. Thank you all so much for a lovely stay.

I had a truly wonderful experience at Hotel do Chiado. From the moment I made my reservation, I felt welcomed and genuinely cared for. The reception team went above and beyond—always friendly, attentive, and eager to help with local recommendations that made my trip even more memorable.||The room itself was spacious, well-appointed, and included a charming balcony with beautiful views over Lisbon. The amenities were thoughtful and added a great level of comfort throughout my stay.||What stood out most was the personal touch the team offered—small gestures, genuine conversations, and a warm atmosphere that made me feel more like a guest of close friends than just a hotel visitor.||This hotel exceeded all expectations, and I’ve already recommended it to friends. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again on my next visit to Lisbon.

Yelp
Nice clean room With a beautiful view of the city. Lovely rooftop bar. Customer service was very good. They only minor issue was when we asked for an Italian restaurant recommendation. The gentleman behind the desk seemed insulted, asking us why we wanted to eat Italian food in Portugal His response was inappropriate

Yelp
The rooms at this hotel are huge, especially by European standards. I loved the shopping neighborhood with tons of restaurants. If you want a view of the iconic Lisbon hillside view while sipping on a pitcher of yummy sangria, the Rooftop Bar is your place. You can make a meal with appetizers too. There is a special area if you are staying at the hotel. But it is also possible to reserve a table. Next time, I plan on splurging for the rooms with its on patios. Can't wait!

Yelp
Layovers are usually not the best when traveling, but on a return trip from Rome we had the option to do a 24 hour layover in Lisbon and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get some last sightseeing in. The last leg of our honeymoon could not of been better! Lisbon, I will return one day to conquer you...I promise. And when I return there is a good chance I will stay at Hotel Do Chiado. The hotel was a bit hard to find (thanks to me NEVER taking proper notes on how to get to our hotels - it's like a vacation tradition we always get lost finding the hotel.) but the locals were nice enough to lead us in the right direction. At the bottom of a hill, on a semi-main street is the entrance. The lobby was nice, and the front desk staff was extremely nice - spoke English, Spanish and Portuguese. They welcomed us, gave us a rundown of amenities and we were on our way. Quick & easy. Perfect. We opted to pay a little more and get a room with a better view when we reserved. WORTH IT. GET THIS UPGRADE. It wasn't much more but the room/view was phenomenal. First of all, it comes with your own terrace. I don't mean a depressingly small, cramped balcony. No. I mean a large open air terrace with a table, chairs, grass and amazing view of the Castle of Sao Jorge and city. SO NICE. We missed out on eating/sipping at the restaurant/bar on the top floor which has another awesome view. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have experienced in a hotel (maybe I was just DEAD TIRED). The room was spacious and comfortable. The location is excellent. It's easy to get to from the airport and surrounded by shops, restaurants, bars and a mall. There was a ton of activity on a Sunday afternoon with people shopping, hanging out and just walking around. Most seemed to be locals which was kind of cool. We ended up eating in the mall food court (I know, I know...it's a sin!) but it was actually pretty good. A huge plate of food with rice, beans, meat and plantain. It was great and reminded me of the Brazilian meals I have had at my buddy's house. I wish we had more time in the city. Unfortunately this was where I crashed after the longest three weeks of my life that included 6 flights, my wedding, training for a new job, honeymoon and walking around Rome. I crashed in that previously mentioned bed like a rock in a river. BEST. BED. EVER. as far as I am concerned - my wife might disagree!

Yelp
Great service, phenomenal views and the beverages, appetizers were fantastic. The hotel was a little challenging to find, but the front desk staff were very helpful, before and after the beverages. We had local beer and sampled three different white port wines all from the Douro Valley... all excellent. The cheese and meat platter was filling and served as our appetizer and dinner! Plenty of seating, both sides of the rooftop patio has large chairs, loveseats and tables. We'll be back!

Yelp
I was also recommended here by a professor and the views are breathtaking! Although it's a hotel, they still accommodated me, staff was very friendly at reception. The menu is a bit pricier, but the food was well worth is. The menu is in Portuguese and I had some chicken sandwich that was huge! definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
Despite multiple advertisements inviting us to enjoy the rooftop bar they only serve hotel Guests.

Yelp
Don't get fooled with thier 5 stars rating online. The customer service is sub-par to worst. We got here around 10 pm and we made a reservation for my kid and my mom and my husband (3 adults and one kid), but they told us we made a reservation for 2 adults, and that we should resolve the issue with booking.com. At first the front desk person checked us in and then he took us to the room and all of the sudden he said we can't give you the room and you need to pay for another room, and we can't add an extra bed for the night as its not available. This back and forth went to the point of becoming a scary situation to the extent that we were asked to pay for another room or leave the hotel with no refund on cancellation. My kid started crying as she was scared and exhausted after a really long flight with this situation unfolding, and it was pretty traumatic. After about one hour they brought their manager and they said we will give you a good rate for the second room and the EU laws are strict about additional capacity. So, basically we had no other choice and we needed to pay for another room. It seems still that this is a tricky way to get more money from guests (in our case +$1000s). Be careful when you get here. The location is great , (and probably the reason for the good rating) the hotel is on top of the mall!!! but the service is terrible to say the least.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I did not stay here and would not recommend anyone else to stay here!! I am in the midst of planning a trip to Lisbon and from the many reviews on this and other sites, and the location of this hotel, I wanted to book three nights there. When I logged on to their website to book there was misinformation about the cancellation policy (you must cancel with 555 days it said). Therefore, I decided to call them directly to ask about the cancellation policy, and, since I was on the phone, already to book the available room. So on Monday (this past week) I called there and spoke with a man who told me he handles reservations. He answered my questions and took down all of my information, including my credit card info and my Gmail email. I asked him to please email me a confirmation. This was 7pm Eastern Standard Time here. When by Tuesday afternoon I still did not see any communication from the Hotel I decided to once again call there directly, when I was able to (around 7:30pm Eastern Standard Time), to ask about the confirmation. This time a man name Levi picked up and proceeded to tell me that they did send the confirmation to the email I provided (the Gmail account) and that I emailed them back cancelling the booking. VERY STRANGE as I neither received any emails nor sent them any emails back!! OK, so I thought maybe they got the email wrong and whoever they emailed to sent them back a reply cancelling. Could be possible. I asked Levi to send me a copy of that email where "I cancelled" the reservation since I was concerned now. Then, I proceeded to rebook the same room at the same rate, once again providing all of the pertinent credit card, etc. information. This time however, I asked Levi to send me a confirmation to both my Gmail account and my Yahoo account, along with the previously mentioned "cancel" email. I once again made sure the spelling of the email accounts were correctly writtien down, this time by Levi. Once again, I kept checking the throughout the next day and I received NOTHING!! I checked all my emails including all my spams and trash (in case somehow it ended up there). Now I am concerned. Thank God I made an alternative reservation just in case. I emailed the hotel since I was not about to waste my money calling them again and asked for the managers contact info. The only available email on their site is for the reservations department so I had no choice but to ask them (the same people who screwed up my reservation twice already). I was responded to within a couple of hours by Alberto Santos with Célia Loureiro as the name given for the hotel manager but no direct email address. Instead, Alberto asked me to forward any questions to him. When I again asked for Celias direct email, Alberto, responding within 30 minutes, asked me to forward any questions to him. Now, I explained that I have a concern about the Reservations Department (not him directly as I never got the name of the first person I made the reservation with and did not want to falsely point any fingers at Alberto) and need to address those with the manager directly. I have not received a response since!! Its been two days!! Obviously, they receive the emails and simply don't care! So, I decided to let you all know about my experience. First of, I do not know if any fraud has been committed with my credit card information since the interactions with this "Hotel" are extremely suspect. Second, I am not convinced that Levi completely lied to me about the whole "we received an email from you cancelling the reservation". Who does that??? Finally, if this is the way the treat reservations and issues that arise, I wonder how they treat their guestrooms when issues arise. The total lack of competency, the lack of caring and hospitality, the lies, and possible fraud that these folks committed leaves me with one conclusion: BEWARE and stay away or stay here at YOUR OWN RISK. I don't easily give business bad reviews, but this "hotel" has proven to be a horrible experience thus far.

Yelp
This hotel is fantastic, albeit a little challenging to find (did NOT get it right the first time). Despite challenging to find (and a startlingly small door at street level) the Hotel do Chiado is very well located amidst the shopping of the Chiado neighbourhood. Better yet is when you head up to the 7th floor where the Entretanto Bar kicks in. A beautiful, large terrace which is perfect for coffee in the morning and cocktails in the afternoon. It overlooks the castle, and also features waterside views. Blue A. notes that the suite upgrade is worth it, and these are also here; wonderful views and spacious in a way that guarantees that guests aren't tumbling over each other. Special call-out for the staff at the hotel generally and those working the kitchens/at the bar in particular. Everyone was exceptionally helpful and accommodating, to the extent that we spent much more time out on the Hotel terrace than originally intended. Almond cake and a mega-stuffed club sandwich (my hotel bar menu go-to?). It was perfect with a heavy dose of sunshine. Yelp note: for the care and attention, the quiet and the quality of this hotel...it really is an affordable place to spend some time.
