Hotel do Elevador

Turn around and head back down the stairs. Restaurant panoramic was sadly a poor experience. Waited over 1 hour and 40mins for our meals and were not told of the delay, instead we had to ask and persist. Once food arrived, was not worth the wait at all. Overall, save your money and go elsewhere. Somewhere more traditional downtown.

The Hotel is need of some modernisation in the rooms BUT it was clean and functional. The staff were all extremely friendly and the evening meal fabulous. The breakfast choice was limited but perfectly fine and all fresh. A great location and would certainly staff again in the future. In addition - one of the young men behind reception lent me his i-phone charger which saved the day for me!!!!

I grew up in Braga and Hotel do Elevador, in the beautiful Bom Jesus do Monte, was a real iconic hotel, back in the 60's and early 70's, either to stay or for a dinner in the beautiful covered veranda. After I moved abroad I tried to stay there, during a visit to family, to no avail. When I arrived I was told that they had a wedding in the garden and it would therefore be too noisy (they never bothered to inform me about that fact, even if I booked short before arrival!). I was then told to stay one of their other hotels nearby, Hotel do Templo, but the room was very gloomy and my whole experience was ruined! When I decided to visit Braga once again I thought that giving it another try, for old times' sake, would be a good idea. Wrong........ The hotel is rather rundown nowadays and I ended up staying in four rooms, during my 3 day stay, two in Hotel do Elevador and two again in Hotel do Templo. The receptionists did they best to try to solve the problems, the management did very little. Dinner was not that good either! This is an experience I will never repeat ever again!

Horrible food. We had a reservation of 16 guests about a month ago. Later we knew the appetizer was changed into soup. The soup was tasteless. We asked for black pepper but then we got wired white pepper. It didn’t go with the soup at all. After trying all the dishes, we just couldn’t believe what we’d got.and a lot of us didn’t finish the dishes. We had been traveling in Portugal for 11 days. It was probably the worst meal we’d ever had. The quality didn’t meet the standard of the price at all. Disappointing experience. What a waste of the great location and view.

Knowing the location and the price we were paying we expected a lot more from this hotel. Upon arrival we realized in the building the A/C was cut off we asked about the air and was told they can not turn it on due to the season. The front desk person added that this is all the hotels in Braga which was not true as we were just coming from Torre de Gomariz Wine & Spa with outstanding accommodations. Hotel do Elevador should advertise this A/C issue in their website so guest are aware prior to booking. The location was convenient for our stay due to a wedding at the church and had a great views only benefit. Beds were flat, cheap, outdated, and hallways smelled moldy. At the end of our stay they tried to charge my card for 3 nights when we originally only had 2 nights booked. We could not stay the 2 nights due to how hot it go in the room which we had to leave and only stayed one night. We tried checking out at 9am which check out is at 12:00 noon and front desk person continued to try and charge my card for 3 night multiple times. I blocked my card before the charges. I left the premises and got a hold of management where they then apologized and charged my card for 1 night. Unpleasant and unprofessional unfortunately.

A total disaster! The room was extremely cold, the heater was not working I woke up in the middle of the night, totally freezing. They provided me after 1,5 hours a small heater, which was not really useful. I got sick due to this night and missed important meetings on the next days. The wifi was not working in the rooms even after resetting the routers. The reception promised to solve the problems but never did. The staff and management was not nice and not acting responsible.

The rooms are way to old. Stayed for 1 Week they gave me a 8,50€ involce for drinks that i not had. Never again.

Very bad experience with the Rooms are under the restaurant, so many time noisy from people walk , run and drag the table on the wood floor at all the time.|Can not sleep but expensive paid|We are 3 of us drive far from algarve to Braga that we need to sleep. Since we check in till Midnight they still noisy Bang Bang Bang !! Crashhh!!! On the floor.|No more next time|Terrible ||Reception can not solve any problems|Just say sorry 5 minutes, 10 Minutes||Sorry !!!
