Super German hotel and restaurant. Good rooms, clean. Super location. Staff is nice, good food, but could be better en generous. They try with a strickt (german) roster to serve diner on timeslots. And yes, the other reviews are correct about the breakfast. All by all, not bad at all!!!

Yet again and after a gap of 20 years we were confronted by arrogant and aggressive staff who shouted at us. Incredible. Unacceptable. We were ashamed to bring American friends who were here for the first time to such a place. In case anyone cares these rude and offensive people have done great damage to their place of work and to the reputation or Bernkastel and of Germany. We cancelled our planned lunch and left. Never again.

Accommodation, service and good food. Stayed here for a few days in this little town. Easy convenient check in. Staff walks you to your room. The hotel portion is spread out throughout this historic building. Parking is just around the corner, but easy to get to and safe. Room is clean, well maintained and everything works. The real surprise was the restaurant. This little restaurant is making some really good food. Both nights we had dinner here, from the appetizer to desert everything was cooked to perfection and tasty. Highly recommend

We stayed here for one night - rooms are of a modern design despite the front building being very old. Reception staff were welcoming when we arrived and showed us to our room. We ate here in the evening - food was good quality, and again staff took the time to explain the menu to us. Breakfast the next morning was good - generous choice, which included scrambled eggs, plus the usual breads, rolls, fruit, yoghurt, cold meats. The location is great too, really central location.

Stayed here for 4 nights at the end of a road trip in Germany Italy and Alsace Lorraine.||The hotel is a mixture of original and new however from the outside it all looks authentic.||We were right at the top in a refurbished room which meant it did get very hot. There is no air conditioning however a fan was provided and this meant the room did cool down to allow us to sleep.||Room itself was spacious with a great walk in shower. Minimalist in decor but in keeping with the building.||Breakfast was good with a good choice of breads meats and fruit.||We did not eat in the hotel other than breakfast.||Found the reception staff particularly helpful.||Parking is off-site and a ten minute walk from the hotel however you pay for a voucher at the hotel and this covers 3 days for 5 Euros.

We had arranged to meet up with friends in Germany and we settled on Bernkastel as the ideal place. All four of us stayed in the hotel for two nights. The main building is quite beautiful - full of character. Behind it is a lovely courtyard with wisteria trained to form a roofing over part of the yard. Breakfasts were excellent, well up to the high standard that we have always found in southern Germany. staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We dined in the courtyard on our first night. The menu was very interesting and more creative than is usually the case in Germany. Their own house wine was light and refreshing. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Mosel valley.

Rooms are clean, modern and comfortable. The hotel though is a 17th century tithe house. Atmospheric and authentic. Staff friendly and good-humoured. No parking - which bothered me in advance but this is because the hotel is in a well-preserved town. You park 3 mins walk away next to the Mosel in a large public car park and you can buy a three day pass in the hotel for 5 euros. First hour free while you check and settle in. Breakfast very nice. Good coffee and bread. All in all nice hotel but Christmas market not up there much ! Scenic town but streets deserted by 9 and stalls all packed away. This was 20 December !!

The Hotel Doctor Weinstube was fantastic! I have stayed in many locations in Bernkastel-Kues and this was by far the best! Excellent location, Beauty building and courtyard. Breakfast was fantastic and Sondra at Breakfast was very helpful and nice. Loved the room as well. Will definitely stay here again! Great location during the Weinfest!

Yelp
In Germany, I (almost) entirely judge a hotel on its breakfast. Doctor Weinstuben throws down a mean German breakfast. Fresh breads, local jams, cold cuts and cheese, soft boiled eggs, muesli...all of it. Its' prime location in the historic section of Bernkastel-Kues allows for wandering around the twisted streets to shops, restaurants, and wine bars. While the restaurant and reception are in classic Germanic style, the rooms contained within are sleek, modern, and comfortable. The shower was even spacious enough for the husband. As a lovely treat, the spa is a wonderful place to relax after wandering through the hills or bicycling along the Mosel. The sauna is just the trick to work out all those kinks!
