My family and I lived in one of the extended stay apartments for 4 months while looking to buy a house in Rhode Island and for the most part, it was great. The weekly maid service was fantastic, those lady’s were so wonderful to us, especially to our boys. Paul, the maintenance man was top notch. Anytime we had an issue, he was there like a superhero to save the day. Xiony, the hotel manager was always warm kind to us as well.
Honestly, the only downside was one rude and unprofessional front office hotel employee. I recall so many moments where he’d treat me like trash, like he just didn’t care at all. The most recent being today over our deposit refund, nearly 2 weeks and it hasn’t come through yet. We have our 4 year old son’s birthday party this Sunday which will then be followed up by the birth of our daughter this Tuesday, so ya, we kinda need that money. My wife called to check up on the status this morning and apparently this employee was “rude and condescending” to her. She was really upset by this so I felt I needed to call the hotel myself. Within the first 30 seconds I understood what she told me, he was, my apologies for the language, a jackass. After asking about the deposit, I heard his condescending sigh which was followed by him telling me he couldn’t help me and to call back tomorrow. I tried to explain why I needed an answer today and asked for a contact number for his boss, he refused then told me to call back tomorrow. I again asked for his bosses contact info and it was at this point he hung up on me, mid-conversation. Here’s the thing, it’s not so much about the deposit as it’s about the total like a care. Of course, getting our deposit back as soon as possible would put us at ease but it’s more than that. It’s about feeling respected which is a word I don’t think this employee knows the meaning of.
That being said, if you’re looking for a place to stay for 1 night or 4 months, give them a shot. One bad employee shouldn’t overshadow all the other great one’s!
