Where to Stay in Vienna on Your Trip (Updated 2025)

"This boutique midrange hotel feels like a step back into Vienna's imperial past with decor to match; the small, clean rooms are full of light, the shower has great water pressure, and you can walk to the main sights in less than 15 minutes, making it one of the best value options in the district." - Matthew Kepnes

The 6 Best Hotels in Vienna (Updated 2025)

"A boutique four-star hotel in the city center with small, clean rooms that evoke Vienna’s imperial past, I appreciate the antique touches like wooden desks, tables, and upholstered armchairs that give the rooms plenty of charm and light. Rooms include free Wi‑Fi, a flatscreen TV, and a coffee/tea maker; the bathrooms are very spacious (the tiles aren’t the most fashionable) and the showers have excellent water pressure. The breakfast—available to include in the price—has a lot of variety, especially fresh breads and cheeses, and I think this is one of the best value places to stay if you want to be in the center of it all." - Matthew Kepnes

Fantastic location in central Vienna just 200m from St Stephan’s Platz. Close to many excellent restaurants. Rooms are spacious, good bathroom, clean, comfy beds. Good value. Great staff especially front desk Lady (her name is Nato) - smiling, friendly, helpful and courteous

This hotel is perfect, it looks traditional and classic but not obsolete. The room is spacious with high ceilings, traditional wooden furniture but everything is very clean with all facilities. The location is superb just next to St Stephan cathedral and 12 minutes walk to Mitt Wein, on the other hand it’s located in a peaceful area and I felt safe. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Thank you for your warm hospitality that made my first trip in Vienna so wonderful. 🥰

I recently stayed at Hotel Domizil and had a fantastic experience. The location is ideal, just a short walk from major attractions like Belvedere Palace and the city center.|The hotel beautifully combines modern comfort with Viennese charm. My room was clean, spacious, and well-equipped, ensuring a restful stay. |The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, making my visit even more enjoyable. Plus, the breakfast was a highlight, offering a great variety of delicious options.|I highly recommend Hotel Domizil for anyone visiting Vienna. I can't wait to return!

Location is great. Rooms need to be refurbished. Breakfast was good. Receptionists: a lady who was very kind, also a young man. But there was a young lady in the reception one night that was not kind at all. We made a complaint about our rooms not been cleaned one day and that woman had not any educated skills to talk to customers and find a solution. She showed an attitude of SUPERIORITY all the time. We, as people who come to your country to spend our money and paying for a 4 star hotel cannot accept that. If the hotel management thinks that is right, it's discouraging.|Sincere opinion.

Stayed here for one night and it s a pretty good hotel in many ways but I can only give a 4 rating as a couple of areas need looking at 3.5 is probably a better rating . Its a few minutes walk from line 3 Stubentor metro station and the tram stop.. First impressions are good, it oozes character and I particularly liked the chandeliers everywhere and that there are proper keys on heavy brass tags,, why dont all hotels have these, so much better .... I was on 4th floor in room 414 it was very quiet with high ceilings and hotel slipppers, it felt like I'd stepped back in time to when Vienna was the capital of an empire. There were 2 large single beds pushed toghether and they were very comfy. HUGE plus is that there was a PROPER KETTLE........ few points though. There are very few power sockets and the 2 that I found are at floor level so if you want to boil the kettle or charge your phone you need to get on your hands and knees, I know its an old building but this isnt really acceptable, The wifi was very good,. What was bad though was the step into the bathroom. there is a very sharp edge on top and its very easy to step on it. It does need attention.|Unfortunaely its the breakfast which does let the hotel down, I got there 10 minues ater it started and the hot offerings were at best lukewarm - bacon The scrambled eggs were just yuk and cold. didnt try the sausages Quite surprisingly Prosecco is availabale. the tables have square tops and a circular base so if you lean on the tables it tips up........... it was below average and a 4* hotel it shouldnt be. it just wasnt very nice. |The staff were great and a big thanks to the lady on reception when I cheaked in.|so the big question, would I stay again, yes but Id have breakfast outside.|Vienna is by miles our favourite European city, been many times it really is totally different to anywhere else in Europe..|

Excellent central Vienna location just 200 metres from St Stephen Platz|Rooms are spacious, clean, well appointed, good bathroom and comfy beds|Thanks very very much to the charming, smiling, helpful lady (her name is Nato) at Front Desk who gave great advice for walks, visits, transportation and restaurants |Good value for money - even if it could be modernised

The hotel is walking distance to major attractions and stores. We were able to come to the hotel during the afternoon which was great because we had a toddler who still naps. Rooms were fairly clean, breakfast was okay, but I did expect more from a 4 star hotel. There was no free water in the room, and the coffee at breakfast was instant coffee from a machine. I would have at least expected fresh coffee given that I have usually had great coffee in 3 star hotels in other European hotels.

Yelp
The hotel is located in the central part of Vienna. An old building with minimum facilities and quite expensive for the service you get. The guy at reception was the rudest person you could imagine. I have travelled to many places around the globe but this person was unbelievably rude. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

Yelp
We booked Hotel Domizil, because we wanted a cheap hotel in the heart of Vienna, and were enchanted by the descriptions of an never ending breakfast buffet of muffins, croissants, and other delicacies that would warm even the emptiest bellies. However, the reality is quite different. The food is made early in the morning and kept in a warming container until the end of breakfast. This means the food you are eating at 10:00 am has been artificially warmed for several hours by the time it hits your taste buds. That being said, there were many options and it tasted okay. Our room was a double with two twin beds squished together instead of the double bed we expected. We were able to sleep relatively well except for the loud sounds caused by the thin walls. The bathroom was acceptable; it was relatively clean with a shower and a tub. Strangely, the room key was an actual key attached to a 2 pound paper weight with the room number on it. Not exactly a comfy fit in my pocket. The staff was friendly, never failing to greet us when we entered the hotel. Their english was good, and we could easily communicate. They even held our luggage for the day after we had already checked out. We enjoyed the proximity to the U-bahn and Stephansplatz. A myriad of shops and tourist attractions like Hofburg Palace, Stadtpark and the museum quarter are within a 15 minute walk. We would recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for a hotel close to the shopping, dining and attractions Stephansplatz has to offer.
