Stayed here for one night and it s a pretty good hotel in many ways but I can only give a 4 rating as a couple of areas need looking at 3.5 is probably a better rating . Its a few minutes walk from line 3 Stubentor metro station and the tram stop.. First impressions are good, it oozes character and I particularly liked the chandeliers everywhere and that there are proper keys on heavy brass tags,, why dont all hotels have these, so much better .... I was on 4th floor in room 414 it was very quiet with high ceilings and hotel slipppers, it felt like I'd stepped back in time to when Vienna was the capital of an empire. There were 2 large single beds pushed toghether and they were very comfy. HUGE plus is that there was a PROPER KETTLE........ few points though. There are very few power sockets and the 2 that I found are at floor level so if you want to boil the kettle or charge your phone you need to get on your hands and knees, I know its an old building but this isnt really acceptable, The wifi was very good,. What was bad though was the step into the bathroom. there is a very sharp edge on top and its very easy to step on it. It does need attention.|Unfortunaely its the breakfast which does let the hotel down, I got there 10 minues ater it started and the hot offerings were at best lukewarm - bacon The scrambled eggs were just yuk and cold. didnt try the sausages Quite surprisingly Prosecco is availabale. the tables have square tops and a circular base so if you lean on the tables it tips up........... it was below average and a 4* hotel it shouldnt be. it just wasnt very nice. |The staff were great and a big thanks to the lady on reception when I cheaked in.|so the big question, would I stay again, yes but Id have breakfast outside.|Vienna is by miles our favourite European city, been many times it really is totally different to anywhere else in Europe..|
