Hotel Don Curro Malaga

We stayed 6-nights there with the aim of sightseeing in Malaga. We really liked this hotel and not only for the wonderful location but for the comfortable bed and nice bedsheets, for the plenty of space in the room and the bathroom, and for the good breakfast with lactose free milk and gluten free bread and cakes! We asked a bathtub, what we got, and it was great. We liked the fish restaurant just next door and that we could walk to the beach and to the shopping streets just within 2-5 minutes. It is a 3-star hotel, but if they offered tea kettle in the room, they could get the 4th star (which we wouldn't t need, we just wanted a tea kettle!) ;) We will definitely come back!

I had a good experience during my visits with friends. The location was excellent right at the heart of the city centre. Everything was close by but the only issue is that taxi don’t stop here, you have to walk out to the taxi rank to get a taxi to the airport and for a 10 minutes ride to the airport it’s still €25. The breakfast was very basic and the restaurant is small but the breakfast time is 7.30- 11.30 so it allows time for those who want a lie in can have breakfast a bit later and to even out the crowds. The room was clean and large a shower room with plenty of wardrobe space, mirror and spaces for luggage in the junior suite that we stayed in on the 3rd floor. Two lift but both quite small. The small lobby area was always managed by someone and they helped store our luggage away when we had a late flight. There were only pineapple and gala melon for breakfast every day and I couldn’t eat them as I was allergic to them both. When the carton of juice run out they didn’t replace them so you had no choice but to drink the concentrated orange juice from the dispenser. Otherwise there is a hot drink machine. The pastry also not fresh in the morning. Housekeeping replace the towels everyday, made the bed but should also top up the hand wash as we ran out on the last day. The suite we had was great and location was excellent. The Christmas lights in Malaga were amazing and there were plenty of market stalls everywhere. I highly recommend coming here!

Most of the three stars awarded here were for the hotel’s location. Absolutely brilliant. However, I think they’re trading on that and resting on their laurels. |On arrival, we were abruptly told that the rooms would not be ready until 2.00/2.30pm, without even checking with housekeeping. When we finally checked in, the man on reception barely made eye contact, failed to explain ANYTHING about the hotel or the facilities (as there are none, I suppose) and gave us our room keys without even a smile. |Rooms (and housekeeping) were fine. Air conditioning control was on the floor when I entered the room. Went down to reception and the man who came up to the room with me fixed it immediately. However, it then only generated heat and not cold. ||Breakfast is VERY basic. Again, the staff for the first two days made no attempt to make contact or even say “good morning”, let alone eye contact. On the third morning, I was asked to confirm my room number! No comfortable seating so chose not to use the bar on the evening. It was like being in a school classroom. ||Would I go back to Malaga? In a heartbeat. Would I stay at the Don Curro? Absolutely not. €116 per room per night in January. I expected significantly better.

Great, convenient, central location. We stayed for one night in a double room and found the soundproofing (or lack thereof) to be really inadequate. The staff were friendly enough. Unfortunately, in the morning when we were gathering our belongings, we saw two roaches in the span of five minutes and decided to check out early. Yikes!

Stayed for 1 night in mid November Good: 1. Location was right in the heart of Malaga old town and all attractions were within walking distance 2. Metro Atarazanas was only a 5 min walk away from the hotel with clear signage outside the station. (Convenient for going to Maria Zambrano train station). For the airport, the Cercanicas train goes from Centro Alameda (at least 10 min walk) or a change at Maria Zambrano with the metro is necessary. 3. Bed and toilet were good and comfortable. Bad 1. Our room had a strange layout which made it narrow to walk with both our luggages open for packing purposes. Summary: Excellent location to visit Malaga center and to go for day trips to Benalmadena, Marbella and Granada.

Everything you need from a hotel that is so central. Two areas that let it down we're no kettle or coffee machine in the bedrooms which would be a nice addition and unfortunately, breakfast was a bit disappointing. Everyone on our table could not drink the orange juice and from looking around the room, it was the same for the majority of guests - it tasted very strange and definitely not fresh.

Carlos came right out to the taxi & collected our bags to take to the room. We LOVE the room & the location. Close to many restaurants & shops. Carlos also was very helpful when we asked for directions & with knowing what sights are "must sees" here. I ABSOLUTELY love this city & the hotel is Adorable!

We have used this hotel five times and will use again. The location is really good I have found the staff to be helpful and efficient. The hotel is a city hotel and does not have a pool etc but the rooms are comfortable at a fair price ideal for Christmas lights or a weekend away.
