Hotel Donatz

Wow the chef makes imaginative, tasty food! And the service at this small boutique hotel was excellent. Comfortable rooms and quiet too despite opening on a street. We came here for cross country skiing and it was well located for skiing straight from Samedan or taking bus or train to nearby towns and trails.

Really nice hotel in the centre of Samedan. Super helpful staff. Great breakfast. Modern and comfortable. I booked late and could only get a single room which was warm, quiet but a little small for me. Recommend Samedan to get away from busy and expensive St Moritz.

My experience at Hotel Donatz in Samedan was nothing short of exceptional, particularly when it came to their dining offerings. As someone who is passionate about food, the quality of the dinner was truly outstanding. The menu had a wonderful variety of great meat options and local specialties, each prepared to perfection and presented beautifully on the plate. Especially the flambée main courses. Not only were they delicious, but the presentation was also a real treat, adding a touch of theatrics to the meal. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, making the evening truly unforgettable. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for an exquisite meal accompanied by top-notch service. Will definitely be back

Amazing little gem in the mountains. Very friendly service and staff. Great food and atmosphere, as well as the access to a spa a few meters away. I look forward to my next visit hand highly recommend this place to stay, dine or enjoy a glass of wine in the wine bar

Great experience. The room was spacious and bright (we had 63), facing out onto the main drag. Bed was really comfy. Our room had loads of storage space. The staff were lovely, spoke English. Excellent food - both breakfast and dinner. The half pension really is a good deal. Free use of the mineral bath, public transport ticket. The hotel is immaculate, well maintained, staff are competent and friendly. Hotel is dog friendly, dogs can stay for a nominal fee. We’re not skiing people, but I think the access to winter sports is good. ||The train station is very close, less than a 10 minute walk. It is up a steep hill, so if you have a mobility issue, check on taxi service. It’s available. ||We enjoyed our stay so much, we’re going back in June.

The newly renovated eating area looks beautiful. Few extra rooms added for privat celebrations. |And as always super delicious food and great service. We really enjoyed our time off. And I realized how kids friendly the hotel is. Once more a remarkable time at a wonderful place.

Excellent location and base for travel around the Engadin. 7 minute walk to Samedan train station. ||||Professional and very friendly service, great English spoken, lovely clean and comfortable room. Bonus inclusions like the Mineralbad tickets (really stunning mineral bath house just a 6 minute walk away) and public transportation tickets around the Engadin are fantastic! We did the half board package (breakfast and 4 course nightly dinners) which was all very delicious. Interestingly, the dinner package even allows a choice for mains (meat, fish or veg) and a choice between cheese or dessert. We had dinner int he wine bar and Restaurant Padella and both were exceptional. Lovely wine selection too. Cool wine shop (with a fun degustation concept) across the road, and great cafe/bakery a 4 minute walk down the road. We are expats living in Switzerland so we have adjusted to Swiss prices, but the value, quality and friendliness of this establishment is second to none. Looking forward to coming back and checking out this place in winter.
