Excellent value and very comfortable! The rooms are large, well air-conditioned, and have large bathrooms and comfortable beds. Some tiny things are not perfect, but for most people the place is fabulous, especially for the price we paid, which was less than nearly everywhere in the centre of La Rochelle. Lots of parking too, and very quiet. Less than 10 minutes drive in to the centre. Breakfast was simple but tasty, continental style. There's even a small pool and a sauna free for guests.

We called to see if they had a room for one night, and so we arrived to a very friendly welcome after yet another tiring journey plus driving through Rochelle was a bit of a nightmare.. |We were welcomed by the lovely Christiane and after the formalities of checking in we made our way to our allocated room. First impressions Wow! A huge room overlooking a beautiful garden, a lovely big shower, separate toilet, and a comfortable lounge area complete with a fridge stocked with some water, and a coffee machine|The bed was large and very comfortable - everything was just so!|Apart from the coffee cups which were far too big for the machine , and so it happened that when my husband was making a coffee, the cup now with hot coffee toppled over, scalding his hand and thus creating a large stain on the carpet. Whoever thought that putting large tea cups by a coffee machine that takes espresso size cups was a good idea?|attention to detail..||Dinner in the restaurant was a farce. |We waited a good while to be assisted to an available table - there were quite a few empty and unlaid tables, so when I asked the waiter for us to be seated at a somewhat larger table, his instant reaction was a very firm NO.. as it was supposed to be FOR FOUR PEOPLE - NOT TWO!! It hadn't even been laid up for 4 people.. and so I asked if he was expecting 4 people to arrive when there were so many other tables available. But the man said NO, and so NO it was.. |It could only get better .. or could it?|he placed us on a small empty table and then it took ages for him to arrive with the cutlery. We then waited another 15 or so minutes before he came with the menu on a blackboard,. By now we didn't even want to be in the restaurant any longer so we asked for something simple like an omelette, again the answer was a firm NO, and by this point we just decided to have some cheese and bread to share and be done with it. that too took an age to make its way to our table. |All in all not a good experience so after our cheese and bread supper we upped and left and went back to our room||We ended up staying for 2 nights as it was really comfortable - plus we needed a good rest, and we avoided the restaurant at all cost||A very special thanks to Christiane!

Definitely a very pleasant surprise - I booked the hotel last minute when we were in Brest and definitely was not disappointed. The room is very spacious with separate bathroom and toilet. Wifi provided and there is a restaurant onsite and the food is amazing. Definitely 10 out of 10. If anyone is in the La Rochelle area and are looking for accommodation with a historical influence, Hotel Et Spa Du Chateau is a must!

Got back early hours last friday after spending 3 mights here. Fabulous looking building. Small reception area very nice lady at check in. We were in room 5 which faces the grounds at the back. Room was lovely, great shower, no complaints. There we 4 couple as 3 came over to visit friends who live just over a hour away so they drove over to join us. Bed very comfy and didn't hear anything once in bed so peaceful. Breakfast was nice, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, nice French stick and plenty more. All the staff were very nice and friendly. Restaurant was nice and good selection of drinks. Nice seating area outside if weather would have been warmer. Quite a way out from town but just along the road are bus stops which takes you into town and back. Number 10. 1.50 euro. Only criticism is there isn't anywhere really to sit in evening. There is a sofa and couple of armchairs in restaurant but only enough room for us who took it over. Got locked out of our room safe last day but to our relief the lady managed to sort it. We had a lovely time but would be even better to have a nice lounge to sit and have a drink before and after meal. Evening meals were very nice. If we did return would stay there again. 2 days would have been more then enough bit as our flight was in evening made it a very long day.

The lady at the front desk was very nice but that’s it . After that everything goes down the drains. The bedroom was very dirty and needs a serious deep cleaning. Dust everywhere and the building needs some serious TLC . The light on the ceiling of our bedroom didn’t work and the lamp cover fixture was full of dead bugs . The carpet was dirty and the AC vents were full of dust.|Our room was next to the restaurant and we could smell a very bad odor of old frying oil.|The breakfast buffet the first two days was horrible. Cold food, inedible fatty bacon, cold overcooked scrambled eggs , dirty plates . No attendants during two days to take care of the buffet . A disaster. You should be ashamed to serve this kind of rubbish to your customers. The price of the buffet was exorbitant and it was a rip off.|The last morning the buffet was much better thanks to the nice front desk lady that was in charge .|The building is beautiful but the owner needs to invest money to repair it especially the windows |I will never nor recommend your hotel to anyone.

A great room, clean and comfortable. Staff were amazing , apart from the chamber maid, who did not want to clean our room . The food in the restaurant was unfortunately very poor, and overpriced. Would stay there again, but I would definitely not eat there again, which is a shame , as it let the accommodation down.

The building itself was spectacular, it feels really special to stay. Definitely dog friendly! However, inside needs some renovation, especially Spa section. It was hard to say Spa since it consists of a steam room (definitely needs renovation) and a small pool - no sauna. The service staff was really helpful, friendly and professional. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay with our dog.

Was described as walkable to the centre of town. Not on on the busy roads for atleast a mile before getting to a safe place to walk. Bikes were included in the website but at the hotel were 25€ each per day . Rooms were quiet clean and large.
