Hôtel du Château Vitré

This hotel has such character, and the staff were friendly and made us feel welcome.||Our rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was reasonably priced and had lots of food options. ||The hotel is conveniently located near lots of bars and restaurants in Vitré.||Couldn’t ask for more. We will definitely be going back.

We stayed one night at this hotel located right next to the Château. Our GPS had no trouble finding it, and there is on-street parking just down the street on the right. The hosts were very pleasant and welcoming and helpful in finding dinner reservations. Our room was a steep climb to the fourth floor, but it was beautiful, bright and spacious with the Château directly across from our window. We were glad to have this room! Bathroom had everything we needed. Breakfast was outstanding: cheese, meats, croissants, banquettes, cereal, yogurt, breakfast cake and cookies and fresh fruit and of course fruit juices and coffee and warm milk—truly delicious!

Small traditional hotel immediately overlooking the castle and on the edge of the historic centre. The hotel has recently been refurbished to a good standard, the rooms were not particularly large but adequate and reasonably well appointed. ||||Giles and his wife were excellent hosts and breakfast was very tasty and plentiful.||||The hotel offered secure parking at an additional cost for motorcycles. ||||Very easy access by foot into the historic centre and all the amenities, restaurants etc. Also very close to the railway station. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

Though the outside of the hotel is a bit worn, it is very conveniently located for old town and Château with lots of nearby restaurants and bars. It can be a little noisy at night if your room faces the street/Château as our did but the balcony view is lovely. The breakfast is delicious and the owners were very welcoming and helpful. The proprietor enjoyed a ride in my classic car to the park prive 2 minutes walk away. (€5 extra).

Enroute from Brittany to Paris, we stopped to see the historic chateau belonging to Madame de Sevigne. We stayed in the town of Vitre for the night at the Hotel du Chateau. Our 3rd floor room had a magnificent front row view of the Chateau de Vitre. At night the ramparts of the Chateau are lit and it is a dramatic sight! Be prepared to carry your bags up the stairs to get this great view. ||||The room was comfortable, clean and had the charm of a traditional French hotel. The owners were very accommodating and welcoming. The breakfast selections were well beyond the traditional Continental breakfast and was reasonably priced. The hotel, also reasonably priced, is conveniently located near the train station, restaurants and the historic areas of the beautiful old town. We were also able to park our car near the entrance to the hotel.

I stayed here for one night on a recent visit. The hotel staff were fantastic and very helpful. The rooms were a good size and very clean. The location is excellent and situated next to the chateaux and close to all the local amenities. I highly reccomend this Hotel.

Excellent hotel in excellent location and close to free parking. Hosts very friendly and breakfast and room were excellent. Well worth paying for superior room - we had a large room with view of Chateau. Very good value.

The hotel is in a great location next to the Castle of Vitre.The staff is very friendly and helpful but the space is too small (stairs -with a big bag- room small and low standard of isolation). But good value for money for the city center.
