The lady on the front desk, Jeannine, was super friendly and helpful and gave us an incredibly thorough description of the city, including some maps for each of us - there were 3 of us - and our Basel cards to travel in the city with. We were there for the Euros and she gave us multiple options to get to the stadium when she explained the tram network to us, which was greatly appreciated as it was our first time in the city. Due to our room not being in the same building as the front desk, she gave us instructions on where to go, how to get in and who to contact if there were issues with the door sticking immediately before where we needed to go to get to our room. I unfortunately had an issue with my iPad in the evening, as my charging cable broke and the end got stuck in my magic keyboard charging port, which was magnetic and none of the three of us in the room could get it out, so I made my way down to the reception where luckily Jeannine was, this was at 22:45, and this incredible woman managed to prize it out with a pair of pliers. It may seem like such an insignificant thing but I was so grateful as I was starting to panic that I wouldn't be able to charge it and get it working again. Super friendly lady, had a lovely exchange with her and she even hoped we'd win the Euros - we did - but unfortunately we didn't see her again during our stay and check out to celebrate the good news. Absolutely amazing stay and great value for money for the 3 of us for 4 nights in the centre of Basel - plus perfect location as it was where the English fan zone was for the tournament final! Jeannine deserves a pay rise for real.

This morning we checked out of the hotel and encountered a very unpleasant situation with the female owner. She told us that we had only booked for one person, which was not correct — I showed her my Booking.com confirmation clearly showing a reservation for two people. She then said we hadn’t paid the city tax (CT). To avoid conflict, we paid the city tax for one person as she demanded, even though the handling already seemed strange. We left our luggage and came back later to pick it up. At that point, she again claimed we hadn’t paid, even though we had just paid that morning. I showed her the booking record again. She insisted we had only paid for one person and now had to pay for the second person — contradicting what she told us earlier. We have no problems to pay the 2nd person city tax which we did. When I tried to calmly explain the confusion, she became extremely rude and aggressive, shouting at me, saying "You are not welcome anymore and get out and get out!" Her behavior was deeply disrespectful and completely unprofessional. I’ve noticed that she seems friendly to other (non-Asian) guests, but their attitude toward us — as Asian visitors — was unfriendly and dismissive. I sincerely do not recommend this hotel to other Asian travelers due to the poor communication, inconsistent charges, and aggressive treatment we experienced.

Warning, not all rooms are air conditioned! Paying $220 per night without air conditioning is not acceptable. Was not offered any compensation. Crappy fan is best they offered.

Rooms were very spartan but clean. Bathroom adequate, as was everything. I was fortunate to even be able to get a room in town and this was one of the only hotels in Basel with available rooms. No doubt they charged me double what they normally would, but all hotels did the same. No A/C if it’s warm outside. Very small rooms with poor sound insulation but everything worked well. Breakfast was outstanding and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Around 9 am on my checkout-day I wanted to access my car in the hotel's garage to get my "wickelfisch", a locally promoted watertight bag that you can store your wardrobe in and then drift down the river Rhein - a famous local summer diversion which on the previous 2 days I was unable to do due to bad weather.||Contrary to what I had been explicitly told by the staff earlier, on that morning my room card neither opened the door to the reception, which was still unmanned at that time, nor to the garage. For cases like that there is a terminal for emergency calls next to the door. I called and was told that I would be issued a replacement card but it turned out this didn't work either. Next the operator gave me a code number which also failed to open the hotel door.||I angrily walked back to my room (the hotel's apartments are in a separate building) and was lucky the room card at least still unlocked my apartment door. I tried to call the reception but the phone's display said NO SERVICE.||One hour before my checkout time I walked back to the reception and told the receptionist of my disappointment about being unable to start my last date in Basel the way I had wanted. She said that the door had broken down but that I could still have used the gate to the garage. I said that I had tried in vain, she insisted that I was wrong, took my card and ran it over the reader only to see the gate did not open. She issued me a new card while I commented that a gesture of good will or a minor compensation in such a case where not only hotel door and gate fail to open, but also the emergency terminal and the room phone are dysfunctional would be a nice gesture. To my big surprise she replied that my request was exaggerated and that she travelled a lot and that in Spain (!) nobody would bother about such an incident.||I find this a curious statement from a receptionist in a Swiss hotel with half a dozen technical failures. Obviously, I will never again set a foot in this hotel but I wish its future guests a more pleasant experience with the hotel staff in case something doesn't go quite as planned, payed or promised.

The hotel is expensive for the quality it provides, probably for the location near the Messe. I got a room on the ground floor and at the back of the hotel, which means I had to walk in the rain to get to the breakfast room. The room was clean and modern but quite noisy because of the tram passing on the road at the front from 5am. The curtains were not blocking the light completely so I couldn't sleep well. Breakfast had limited choice (e.g. no hot food).

The room was very clean and the staff super friendly. But if you're a light sleeper like me I wouldn't recommend; you could easily hear the noise of the street and the rooms next to you. Also I found it quite irritating that the room wasn't darkened. Great breakfast choices also for vegans, loved the huge muesli bar 🫶🏽

Stylish rooms, relatively quiet street but near the Messe / centrally located. Good breakfast selection.

Yelp
Bad customer service, the owner woman seemed to be arrogant to customers she didn't like foreigners I sense that. There was a big renovation going around the hotel and notice many many paint plots on corridor. No mention of renovation online and at the front desk no mention of renovation. Renovation noise started early in the morning. They didn't close the hotel while making renovation and a lot of guests were wondering why there is renovation and hotel open. Arrogant reception owner she like to call to the room without any real reason and she disturb her guests who paid her. Not good behavior at all. There was a lot of rules around the room also this one "towels are only for body" it is very very weird rule never heard before and you must pay 20-40e if they will find stains on towels so watch out they control everything. The bathroom room was totally transparent and didn't feel comfortable to stay there. Don't know why some people like to keep Transparent shower doors perhaps those are cheaper doors. Room had carpet. The streets near this hotel has not much to offer just Messe, shops and then weird clubs and Chinese shops. Never back.
