The lady on the front desk, Jeannine, was super friendly and helpful and gave us an incredibly thorough description of the city, including some maps for each of us - there were 3 of us - and our Basel cards to travel in the city with. We were there for the Euros and she gave us multiple options to get to the stadium when she explained the tram network to us, which was greatly appreciated as it was our first time in the city.
Due to our room not being in the same building as the front desk, she gave us instructions on where to go, how to get in and who to contact if there were issues with the door sticking immediately before where we needed to go to get to our room.
I unfortunately had an issue with my iPad in the evening, as my charging cable broke and the end got stuck in my magic keyboard charging port, which was magnetic and none of the three of us in the room could get it out, so I made my way down to the reception where luckily Jeannine was, this was at 22:45, and this incredible woman managed to prize it out with a pair of pliers. It may seem like such an insignificant thing but I was so grateful as I was starting to panic that I wouldn't be able to charge it and get it working again.
Super friendly lady, had a lovely exchange with her and she even hoped we'd win the Euros - we did - but unfortunately we didn't see her again during our stay and check out to celebrate the good news. Absolutely amazing stay and great value for money for the 3 of us for 4 nights in the centre of Basel - plus perfect location as it was where the English fan zone was for the tournament final! Jeannine deserves a pay rise for real.
