Hôtel du Couvent de Vagnas

A wonderful place to stay. Great room, very good breakfast. Infinity pool. Nice interior courtyard for an evening meal.

We stayed at l’Hotel du Couvent for almost 3 weeks. The staff was consistently efficient and reliable across all departments. There is nothing to fault from my experience. The hotel has established a new kind of luxury in a superb and tasteful manner. We had our three young children, and the staff members were all so kind, attentive and accommodating. There is nothing they didn’t do for us. They went above and beyond all expectations. The hotel itself is an oasis of peace and calm in the middle of Nice. It felt like we were living in the past due to its preserved yet modernised historical setting. The room was impeccable at all times. Each staff member was an absolute pleasure to interact with, always very calm, smiling, professional, adaptable. I have rarely seen such loyalty in employees for such a new hotel and also such smooth team work. Thank you for everything! It was truly a superb and memorable experience. See you next time!

We did not stay at the Hotel, but we came here to eat. We were so happy with the food and the service that we came here twice in the week that we spent in Vagnas. The first time we sat in the courtyard. Very nice atmosphere, the tables were nicely spread out. The second time we sat inside, also very nice.

At last, a superb hotel experience in Nice. The best location, above the Old Town, Wonderfully relaxing hillside gardens, casual barefoot restaurant. The convent, from 1604, retains serenity. The staff a joy, ask George, the Concierge, for anything, and it is done. I long to return

We stayed here for 3 nights and very much enjoyed our stay.|The conversion of the buildings has been completed beautifully, with a recent addition of a large outdoor pool, unfortunately it was not quite warm enough on the days we were there to enjoy.|The room we booked was a classic double room, we were disappointed that there was no shower, only a bath. There were no rooms available on our first night to change, but for the next 2 nights we were given an amazing suite, with a dining and lounge area, bedroom and separate dressing room, which was a wonderful surprise and treat.|We ate in the restaurant on the last night and it was warm enough to sit outside in the courtyard. We enjoyed a very good meal and relaxed, friendly service.|A lot of money has been put into converting this wonderful hotel, which has only been open for about a year, we wish every success to the owners. We would recommend!|Any negatives/ tips? If you prefer a shower to a bath, request when booking your room.|The bathroom lighting was quite dark in the classic room we had.|

We stayed in October and had lovely weather and very much enjoyed our stay. All the renovations have been done with great care and the owners are very hands on - in a very positive way. Our new terraced rooms were lovely and Vagnas itself is ideally located...out of the hustle but very convenient for everything. Have no hesitation in staying again.

We started off for two nights and ended up staying for five. If you have transport this is a great hotel in a lovely little village with four great restaurants within 15 minutes drive. Two in La Bastille de Virac and two in Bessas. This hotel is recently renovated so there are still a few things to do, but overall we found it very easy to stay here. The restaurant in the hotel is good to. If we're in the Ardeche again this is where we will stay.

From driving up to the hotel, through check in by the owner and being shown the room, dinner in the fabulous restaurant, breakfast and check out, everything was perfect.||The property is fantastic - beautifully and sympathetically restored with all modern conveniences. Room very spacious, a magnificently comfortable bed, top quality towels and linen, complimentary Nespresso, bottled water, bottled iced tea, huge flat screen TV, lots of cupboard space with PROPER (not awkward hotel style) hangers....||A main feature is the owner - super polite, friendly, helpful, even on second night when we wanted to dine out - superb recommendation! Even though the restaurant in the hotel was very hard to beat - fantastic food, beautiful vaulted brink room, superb professional service, wonderful food and excellent wines.||Breakfast excellent, with egg boiler, toaster, many breads/pastries, artisanal yoghurts (including goats), ham, salami, quality cheeses, great coffee and top quality teas - even a machine producing freshly squeezed orange juice and again wonderful service.||I cannot recommend this hotel more strongly and its in a perfect location to explore the wonderful Ardeche region. Bravo!
