Hotel Du Lac Interlaken

126 years old ! Preserved well with old fashioned wardrobes, antique furniture and door keys. Lovely friendly staff, clean rooms with oil wall heater and small portable cooler. Old fashioned lift, and tiles of the era. Little balcony. Fabulous location, visible from the train station, great easy stroll Into town. Brekky limited to croissants bread cheeses boiled egg cereal fresh delicious fruit and coffee .

The room initially provided to us was not clean. When we informed the reception, the staff came to check the room as if they didn’t believe us, and only then did they arrange another room. Since we were staying for 3 nights, we requested to keep the same room throughout our stay, which was the only request they honored. On the second day, only the trash was removed, and the towels were not changed. After requesting fresh towels, the staff justified it by saying that towels are only changed after 5 days, claiming that this is standard practice in other hotels as well. For room cleaning, they even went on to explain how much they pay the cleaning staff and how expensive it is, as though we were staying there for free. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. These small but frustrating issues can easily ruin the mood for a vacation.

One of the worst hotels I have come across. only the location is the high point. the photos that you see are of the breakfast area. Don’t get fooled by all the pictures. The rooms are worse than a lodge. I wouldn’t give this hotel even one star, if it was not for the location. please try different hotels in Interlaken they have many. The heating does not go up, the bathrooms are dull and cold. The room is also very dull. The view from rooms is of the train station mostly. The room does not have carpeting in December. It literally hurts to work on it without your shoes on. the water from the shower is mostly cold. You have to request for every little thing. Not the most courteous Staff that you will see, not a hotel - lodge at BEST.

Super location and awesome views room. Great hotel for short stay like 4-5 days in Interlaken. Staff is very welcoming and soft spoken. Rooms are with amazing river view and few rooms are with balcony. You will find antique furniture in rooms which makes the feel more comfy and classy. Breakfast option is very limited like croissant and buns along with fruit juice and real fruits. Milk and cereals. Location is the key part of this hotel it’s right in front of interlaken ost station. And interlaken west station is walkable like 20mins from this hotel on straight route.

Strange hotel. The rooms have a strange smell, the beds are uncomfortable, and the curtains are too thin to block out the light from the train station. The locks are also difficult to manage and feel like a fire hazard. I would recommend staying elsewhere.

I was aware there was no air conditioning; however, the room had no air circulation. We opened the window (even with the train just outside and cigarette smoke from the balconies of other guests) when it was 55 degree F and it was still hot and stuffy in the room. The fan provided was very small. We stayed there with our 6 year old and we emailed the hotel regarding the cigarette smoke that was constantly coming in our room. Their response was to talk to someone at the reception desk. When I spoke to the reception desk, they had no resolution other than telling me it was going to be a cool day so there was no reason to have the window open. I asked for an extra fan to help and they still insisted it wasn't warm enough that day for another fan. It was going to be very warm the next day though so I was able to convince them to provide us another fan. That fan did not function well. I really don't understand what people are talking about regarding the great breakfast. It was sub par at best. In fact, we went to the coop not far from the hotel to eat breakfast for a very reasonable price and it was excellent. Way better than the breakfast provided. My family tried to get a room at the hostel (which looked way nicer) not far from the hotel even though we had already paid for our 4 night stay to get one good night of sleep; however, they were booked. We ended up paying for 4 nights but left after the 3rd. The vynal shower curtain kept sticking to your body in the shower making it very unpleasant to take a shower. Getting in and out of the shower was risky because of how slippery it was. I even fell once. The carpet was badly stained. The safe in the room was attached to a REMOVABLE shelf in the closet so we couldn't use that. The outlets did not hold plugs very well so our electronics would randomly stop charging. I expected more for the almost $400/night we paid. This hotel is in desperate need of some TLC.

This is probably my favorite hotel for my Europe trip so far, which is odd. It is missing many amenities (AC, mini-fridge) and is old, but it just overcomes all that with so much rustic charm. Door keys are old fashion steel keys. The highlight is being able to open all the windows and enjoy the cool morning air with a beautiful view of the river and hills. Visiting during summer, and it is hot. But with the windows open and the fan on I get to around a comfortable 72 degrees in the room at night (daytime temps have been mid 80's).

Very old and needs a lot of revamp. The key for the rooms are old school keys very heavy and u have to open the door using that old school antique key like you are opening ur grandmas treasure chest. Also the doors were cricking, needs to be lubricated. It’s like the sound of doors opening in a horror story. Pillows are not comfortable. Room was clean otherwise. Service was ok, we arrived at night time. The lady receptionist doesn’t know how to smile and was a bit abrupt but the guy who checked us out was okay.

This hotel is AMAZING! The staff treats you like you deserve. We have stayed at this amazing hotel many times with our groups ( we take people all over Europe) and have fallen in love with this hotel. The food is wonderful also. Rooms are homie and beds are very comfortable ( which is a must) As you can tell I can't say enough good things about this hotel and staff. And the owner Ernest Hofmann goes out of his way to please his guest. Also the views are breathtaking! And the hotel is located across from the train station
