Hôtel du Lac Locarno

We are here right now and the best part about it is the location. It is situated right in the middel of the train station, the promenade and the town square. That also means it can be noisy as the sound from the restaurant below and streets come up but that is ok thus far. Other positives - + coffee machine + upgraded to balcony with a bit of a view on lake maggiore + clean room Then - It is no one’s fault but the balcony door handle has a relatively sharp edge that point downwards and as I got up from the chair next to the balcony door after putting on my shoes I hit my head so hard on that door handle that my head started bleeding. What the hotel does have control over is this - A young receptionist saying the hotel wont “have vegan yoghurt and cant get it for a guest who is just staying for one night”! A small tub of vegan yoghurt from Coop is chf2.00. I decided I will skip paying the CHF20 breakfast and buy it myself. The next person we spoke to at reception, as we were asking about milk for the coffee machine that is in the room, could not (or would not) speak a word of english and when I asked her for latte she rattled off what seemed a long complicated “no”. I honestly don't get how people get employed in Italy in hospitality if they cant understand nor speak any english. At this hotel the staff is not really friendly and really not helpful. So it really is a “no” from me.

We had a great stay at the hotel. Particularly noteworthy was the friendliness and helpiness of the ladies at the reception and at the breakfast buffet. The hotel is excellently located in the center and is easily accessible, clean rooms and a good service. We will be back for sure.

Hotel du Lac offers reasonable rates and a fantastic location, just a short walk from the lake and close to a variety of restaurants. While there is no free parking at the hotel, an underground parking garage is conveniently located nearby.||||Our room was lovely, featuring a private bathroom and a balcony overlooking the park and Lago Maggiore. My wife especially enjoyed the high-quality in-room coffee machine. Breakfast was included and plentiful, providing a great start to the day.||||We liked Locarno so much that we decided to stay a second night, but it was challenging to negotiate a reasonable rate with the staff at the front desk. The rooms are accessible by both a staircase and an elevator, which is convenient.||||The front desk recommended visiting the open market in Feirolo, Italy, but unfortunately, it turned out to be closed during our visit, as it's only open in July and August. That was a bit of a disappointment.||||Overall, Hotel du Lac is a great option for a comfortable stay in Locarno, despite a few minor setbacks.

Hotel is in an excellent location close to the railway station, central Locarno (Grande Piazza), lake steamers and lower funicular station. |It has simple elegance with unfussy design. We had a large bedroom, separate lounge with view towards the lake.|The staff are welcoming and helpful.|Would certainly stay again if on a return visit.

Fabulous location. Very good room with 2 balconies with a lake view from one and a little seating area on the other, staff were friendly and helpful. A good coffee machine supplied in the room. Only negative is, the floor of the bath is slippery, really needs a non slip mat in there before someone takes a tumble.

The hotel is not on the lake as its name implies. It's only a short walk from the lake and I don't think any rooms have a view of the lake. As we were there only for one night, this didn't worry us as it was close to a few things, including the lake.||The bedroom and bathroom are really nicely designed and feel large. ||Whilst there is no on-site parking, there is a public carpark nearby.||The breakfast was quite acceptable.||Unfortunately, we had a room facing a pedestrian area and it was very noisy at night with teenagers being over boisterous, so it was a bit difficult to get to sleep initially. Ask for a room on the other side to avoid this.

A nice cozy little hotel with all the basics one needs (aircon, mini fridge, coffee mashine, hair dryer, small balcony etc.). The lady receptionist was very respectful and friendly during our check-in. The lady attending the breakfast buffet was very efficient and helpful. You get a good selection of fresh treats at your disposal. The terrace area for breakfast has a beautiful view, although small little birdies fly down and steal your food, when your food is unattended 😂🤣. We had a good laugh over it. The hotel is centrally located, with all the major connections nearby. The house keeping does a great job cleaning the rooms and changing the sheets and towels. Since the premise is located near Piazza Grande, it can get loud during festivals, although it's not a problem for us. 😊 Overall we recommend Hotel du LAC Locarno based on our experience, which was very good. Ticino ticket is included, you get ride trains, boats buses free everywhere in Ticino plus you get discounts at many places of fun. We will be visiting again.

The hotel is a small one close to the lake, to the train station and to the center of Locarno. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room is small, but has all what one needs ( mini bar, coffee machine..). We had a room with a balcony and lake view which we would ask for on our next trip. Breakfast was good, could be on the terrasse when weather allows. |We recommend this hotel to people traveling by train, looking for a central location, and for a clean small room with a nice view.
