Hôtel du Marché

I was staying in Lausanne for a few nights for a business conference. Although I don't like writing negative reviews, I thought I should share some of my experiences. My flight got delayed in which I had to check in myself. The hotel did send me the instructions for self check in after 8 pm when I reminded them via email. I followed their instructions, I was able to get the entrance key and the room key. Entrance was easy to open, however my room key was not working properly. I emailed the hotel few times, called them few times but they never answered my call. I waited at the corridor for about an hour or so, but no answer. I ended up asking another hotel guest to help me open the door. Cleaning was not done properly. I asked the cleaning person to change the bed linens since I was staying for 5 nights, however they would just do the bed making without changing the bed linens. For showers, they only had body soap. No shampoo or conditioners. I also needed to borrow iron since I would need them for business meetings. When I asked the reception, they said they don't have any iron for me to use. Later on I found out that other hotel guests were using it so I borrowed it from another guest, in which I thought this was unprofessional. Hotels in Lausanne provide tourists with free transportation cards. Since the reception didn't explain this to me, I had to remind them so that I can use it during my stay. Internet was a bit slow in my room, which didn't help my work.... The location for the hotel was good, easy access to go anywhere. If you are here for a budget trip, this will be a good option to stay. If you are here for a business trip, then I recommend some other places.

There were no toiletries like toothbrush or tooth paste, no hairdryer. Only towels provided. No attached bathroom but the toilet and bathroom was close to our room door. Too small the bathroom and toilet. Only had place to hand clothes and towel. No place to keep our toiletries like shampoo, shower gel etc. no kettle and can only use the coffee maker to boil water. Which has a coffee smell. No aircon or fan and it was hot in the day.

The hotel was okay good location, but do not pay for the breakfast. The breakfast consisted of no meat, burnt croissants, yoghurt, egg, and some lunch box sized cheese. For €15 each was absolutely not worth it, there may be better places local.

Constant noise, never had such a bad experience. The maids are terrible, starting to cleaning from 9am and finished around 4pm. How is it possible to take so much time ?? Resulting is constant noises and discussions on our floor. Plus they leave all rooms open with windows wide open too, it was so cold everywhere especially when you want to have a shower (shared btw). They don't have any respect for customers peace of mind. Avoid this place at all costs !

it's a place easy to reach, just 5 min from train station... easy to stay, clean and friendly

Very nice lovely hotel, small and cozy. Clean rooms and some coffee proposed for guests.

No air condition. Shower in family room on rooftop floor not suitable for someone taller 1.20 m. Check in not possible earlier than 1400, actually recepction desk is not always open during day time. On the positive side very good location, coffee machine available in the room, parking available too at a reasonable rate if you are lucky enough to get one the 3 available spots

Good location. Easy access to multiple forms of public transport. The rooms are outdated , although staff are good and supportive.
