"When the Hôtel du Vieux-Québec poured nearly $3 million into renovating what was once an 18th-century nunnery in 2014, it was already recognized for its green leadership and sustainability: it’s the only carbon-neutral hotel in the province and the only one in Canada to use 100 percent biofuels. Today this boutique property on Rue Saint-Jean, convenient to all old-city attractions, furthers its ecocommitment with features like rooftop gardens that not only grow organic produce for its clients and employees but help with cooling. The hotel keeps five beehives as part of the Urban Honey Project, which helps pollinate city gardens, and the honey is used at the hotel restaurant. All of the 45 rooms and six apartments are unfussy yet comfortable, and even standard rooms have mini-fridges and a work desk. Guests are particularly fond of the continental breakfast basket that’s hung from your door each morning (so long as you book directly through the hotel) and the espresso maker and fresh fruit available anytime in the lounge."

Just finished a stay here for six nights with our two teenage daughters. The service was excellent, staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel couldn't be in a better location for sightseeing and strolling around Quebec City. Even though it's in the middle of Old Town, it's also quite peaceful in the hotel. The hotel was clean, attractive and very comfortable. Bathrooms were nice and beds were excellent. Love the breakfast baskets delivered to our room each morning. We definitely recommend!

This was by far our favorite hotel in Quebec Province. We had a Two Queen room at the start and end of our journey. Each had plenty of space, a pleasant look & clever layout. The sitting area provided 2 chairs, small & large tables & couch. Plenty of storage space was available including bedside shelves, large drawers under bed & under the wardrobe coat closet. (A closet that lit up!)||Unlike so many hotel rooms, the room was well lit including reading lights by beds. Also plenty of outlets were conveniently located including near a large desk. A fine coffee station on a desk with an adjacent table for water & glasses was quite convenient. The bathroom boasted a great make up mirror. ||We ordered the breakfast basket (2 pastries each, cheese, yogurt, juice) twice and were thus able to enjoy a pleasant quiet meal in the room while getting ready to head out on our explorations. It was worth the indulgence unless one requires a hot breakfast.||We found the staff super pleasant & helpful staff especially Sophy. Coffee & fruit & couches, tables, games were in a roomy, pleasant always available lounge. The entire building including the rooms have a wonderful appearance with mix of stone wall & modern amenities. Great location for exploring Old Quebec. Highly recommend.

My wife Francine and I along with our friends stayed at this lovely hotel. The staff were amazing. All were helpful and friendly. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The pillows were awesome and I had two excellent nights sleep where I wasn’t so lucky in Montreal days before. The real exceptional touch was breakfast delivered to our room in the mornings!! A nice picnic basket with danish, croissant, yogurt. cheese and orange juice along with a marvellous jam !! I enjoyed the massage chair in the lounge. I highly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to return. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the upper city.

Loved This Hotel!! My wife and I just returned from a lovely road trip to Quebec City from Boston. We went with sister and brother in law and we all stayed here in this lovely hotel. The staff could not have been more friendly and were always ready to give us excellent recommendations for restaurants and anything else we asked about. The rooms were very clean and surprisingly spacious and the king size bed very comfortable. The AC was very efficient and quiet. As others mentioned, the complimentary breakfast basket, delivered to our door every morning, was delightful with linen napkins, real utensils and the freshest and most delicious croissants as well as yogurt, jam, OJ and cheese. Loved it every day!! There is a large but cozy sitting room with games, books and a cappuccino, espresso, latte machine. There was even a challenging 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle laid out on a large table that I found myself going back to every evening! The hotel is in a perfect location in the heart of old Quebec City. Parking is in an offsite garage but only one short block away and it allows unlimited in/out access for your entire stay. If and when we go back to Quebec city we will definitely stay here again! Great hotel! Highly recommend!

Hello, everyoneat the hotel was exceptional, especially Pierrot and the sweet young women that checked us in. Nice atmosphere, great location. The room was well appointed, clean with comfortable beds. Parking was convenient. |From L'Hotel du Vieux Quebec one can easily walk all of Old Quebec City. Our favorite restaurant Portofino was located a few steps out the door to the left, excellent food and entertainment. The Hotel restaurant also has some excellent choices on the menu. Have fun, be safe. Au revoir'

Google
Extremely well located in the heart of the old upper town, this hotel is beautifully appointed and has a comfortable lounge offering free coffee and fruit all day. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and all of the staff with whom we interacted were friendly and helpful. A nice bonus is that the high-quality restaurant Bistro Hortus is right next door. Our only criticism is the continental breakfast delivered to each room daily. While the basket looks lovely, the croissants, juice, and yogurt were all mediocre and not up to the standard of the hotel itself.

The hotel is a small boutique type hotel. Everything was perfect. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms and beds were very comfortable (my room even had screens so I could open the windows - something I miss in US hotels). There is a comfortable lounge with free coffee, lemon water and fruit. It also has a computer for the guests use. They even have free tea for this who want it!

Google
We made a two night visit to old Quebec which is always an incredible experience. This was our first time staying a Hotel du Vieux-Quebec. The overall stay was wonderful. The hotel is very modern inside a n historic structure. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The most important point is the location this hotel is in the middle of everything. The parking is a little tricky but very close and secure. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay at this small 40+ room boutique hotel right in the middle of all the action in Quebec City. If you need a low key place to stay in Quebec City--this is a great choice. It's not cheap here though--Our Superior Room 2 Double Beds was almost $400 a night US with taxes including parking. That is expensive. Especially since you will parking your own car under City Hall a 5-minute walk away for $14 a night charged to the room, unloading your own bags on the side of the building, and carrying the bags to the room. We asked for a room on the top floor quiet and got a room in the back top that was excellent. I never saw or heard any other guests on the floor or in the hotel my entire stay. The only thing in the room that drove us a little crazy was the heating/cooling system. Instead of one control you just set the temperature you want and it does it's thing--here you have to first decide if you want heat or cold. They are two separate systems. You have to set the temp on the one you want and turn off the other. The other thing I do not like in any hotel that they have here is on the wall liquid bath soap. I hate it! I can't clean without a bath bar so I used the soap from the last hotel I traveled with for these situations. Towel quality is fine--but not at the 400 a night level. They have the most comfortable beautiful lounge that saved them from a 4-star review with the best free coffee and espresso maker from Switzerland. I took advantage of relaxing in the lounge both days here and could have stayed longer just to use the lounge. I miss that coffee maker. Bed comfort is excellent and bedding is fine. It's the type of atmosphere you can sleep the day away if you had nothing to do. The Famous Hotel Frontenac is a 10 minute walk and so is the start of all the tours and visitors center next to it. Outside your door are tons of restaurants and shopping. Also saving this hotel from 4-Stars was the gentleman that checked us in--he represents exactly what you want from someone working in a hotel--he took the time to explain everything in detail, took maps out and gave us touring instructions and when asked--gave restaurant suggestions. He was as friendly and accommodating as can be and so were the other staff members that we met during our stay. They made us feel welcome here. The thing that had us scratching our heads though is that there is no USB or outlets right next to the bed. I know it's an old city but a little suggestion is to run a USB/AC connector to the table next to each bed. France would have had an easier time winning the war if they were able to charge their phones while sleeping.

Yelp
We visited the area from San Diego, California. Stayed here 3 nights. Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, perfect location. The breakfast baskets were the perfect way to start the day! Complimentary espresso maker in lobby. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This hotel is absolutely one of the highlights of our trip, we enjoyed our stay here! Service: The front desk staff, all of them are super super sweet and helpful. Especially, the girl helped us, darker hair, she is so wonderful!! She is very knowledgable and she patiently spends time on our first two days here helping us navigate and mark out places on the map, from restaurant recommendations, reservation status for the local places, COVID test info, to navigations (bus routes etc.). She made everything so much easier. Breakfast Each day, they give you a breakfast menu so you can choose what you'd like to include in your breakfast basket. Every morning, you deliver the breakfast baskets to your door by 8am, and each person is $15/day. Each basket comes with abundance of food: juice, croissant, pastry, cheese, yogurt or chia seed pudding, milk, etc. It took me two mornings to finish mine. They do offer gluten-free options as well. This made our morning very easy, especially since it's so cold outside and you may want to eat something before you head out to the freezing temperature. Location This hotel is located in the heart of downtown old Quebec, everything is within walkable distance. All the restaurants and coffee shops are within 2-3 minutes, it takes about 5-8 minutes to walk to the Petit Champlain. We didn't rent a car for our entire trip. It costs us about $40 for taxi from the airport to the hotel, but on the way back, we took the bus to the airport, it was cheap and convenient. The hotel is only about 8 minutes walk from the bus station, the stop is called Youville. From Youville, you can pretty much go anywhere since it is a main transit center. You can buy the bus tickets from the convenience store called Jac & Gil near the bus station, or the one on Rue St. Jean (both within 5 minutes walk from the hotel), make sure you get round trips for the ticket, and they only accept cash for the bus tickets at the store, they do accept US dollars. We were able to ride the bus to see the Montmorency Falls (one hour bus ride, straight from Youville, super easy), get our covid test, travel around the city, and go to the airport. COVID Test If you are traveling back to the US, you will need a COVID test done within 72 hours before your departure. The hotel recommended the place called Elna Medical https://elnamedical.com/en/, we were able to schedule an appointment for the next day and got our results back within an hour. You do have to pay out of pocket, it is about $100. The location of Elna Medical is very convenient, we took the bus, #807, and the stop is literally less than half block away from Elna, it took about 20 minutes by bus to get there. I highly recommend this hotel, it will make your trip memorable and enjoyable!

Yelp
Charming hotel, delicious pastries for breakfast. Centrally located, sufficiently clean and maintained. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I had a wonderful stay for three nights this past December. From the friendly and helpful front desk workers, the lounge area in the lobby was so relaxing and the breakfast basket each morning was a real treat. I recommend this hotel wholeheartedly. Can't wait for another visit

Yelp
This hotel has a great location in upper Old Town (and lower Old Town is just a short walk down the hill). We walked up the hill from the train station with a small suitcase and a backpack and it was an easy jaunt. My first requirement is always a clean spot and this hotel checks all the boxes there. Bed, bathroom, everything - exceptionally clean. This is one of those rooms where you could relax in there all day because it's so comfy, but there is so much too do and see outside! All of the furniture and fixtures were new and there were plenty of outlets and it was very light. The staff is exceptionally friendly and informative. There is a lounge on the first floor with a complimentary coffee machine for all the fancy coffees you need to power your sightseeing. We would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
Loved our stay here! Super convenient location. It's within 10 min walk to everywhere we wanted to visit. Also very close to the Gare du Palaris station. Note that there were slopes, so if you are traveling by train and carry a large luggage, you might as well take a uber to go to the hotel(under 5 min). The room we booked were the cheapest option available then, but the room size, coziness and cleanness is beyond expectations. We also love the sunshine that comes in through the window. The furnishing style of the room makes it very cozy. Lounge and other amenities are included. There are fresh fruits and espresso machine in the kitchen, located in the lounge. The staff are very welcome and helpful, we also ordered the breakfast basket. Everyday before 8am, the basket will be ready at our door. They offer 2 types of bakery per person (croissant, chocolate bread, or muffins), a bottle of orange juice, a yogurt, cheese, small bottle of milk(for coffee) and a small apple. Highly recommend staying at this lovely place!

Yelp
Awesome hotel and free breakfast basket if you book direct. This hotel is centrally located, and it will take you a 15-20 minutes walk to get to most places you'd want to visit as a tourist. The staff speaks English and are nice and professional. I booked a small queen room but it was bigger than I expected. The toiletries were fine. Two glass bottles of filtered water are provided in each room during your stay. The hotel has a selection of DVDs you can borrow during your stay and will pop popcorn for you too. There's a coffee pot inside the room, but the special coffee machine in the common area makes delicious coffee, lattes and cappuccinos. The common area is a popular place to lounge. There are board games, books, music and a table with fruit and during the afternoon veggies and dip to snack on. The breakfast basket gets dropped off on a door hook by 8am. There's a form in the basket that you can select which breakfast items you want for the next day and you give it to the front desk by noon. They don't have meat and egg options, but the selection of pastries, yogurt/chia pudding, cheese, egg, fresh fruits and juices are fantastic. I loved being surprised every morning and dining at the little table by the window. Overall, I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. They don't have a pool or spa, but offer comfort and charm. I'm not a person who lounges at the hotel during the day. I typically go out and stay out until night time unless I have to drop stuff off. I found myself going back to the hotel several times throughout the day just to grab a coffee, charge my phone and relax for 30 minutes. I highly recommend this place to anyone. Perfect for solo travelers, couples and families with kids.

Yelp
Fantastic! HVQ was recommended by Frommers as well as the fine folks on Yelp, and it did not disappoint! Location? Right in the middle of Old Town. Rooms? Modern and comfortable. Extras? How about baskets of croissants, juice, fruit and cheese left on your door overnight like some kind of "French breakfast fairy!?!? But the absolute best thing HVQ offers is their staff. Friendly and welcoming to some visitors from the States that speak almost no French, they effortlessly made us feel welcome in the hotel as well as the city. I'm sure if you asked them, they would simply say "this is no extra effort - it's what we do". And that's the point.

Yelp
This is a wonderful hotel. Located inside the walls of Old Quebec you can walk to everything. We booked directly with the hotel and the rate included free breakfast each morning as well as a 2 hour walking tour. The breakfast was delicious and better than I thought it would be. Each morning it was delivered and hung on our door; it included croissants (each day was a different flavor i.e. chocolate, almond, apple, etc. along with plain croissants) juice, yogurt and fruit. There is a coffee pot in the room, but we opt'd to run down to the lounge and use the espresso machine that is available 24/7. The lounge also has some fresh fruit flavored water, fruit, books and board games. Rooms contain a DVD player and you can borrow movies to enjoy; we were told they even pop you up some popcorn. This place has thought of it all. The staff is very friendly and they even offer umbrellas to borrow in case of rain. As for the rooms, while the standard room is on the small side, it was very comfortable, modern and clean - there was a pillow menu! It's the little things. We stayed in room 114 which faced the front of the hotel and the main street, however we never heard a car or any outside noise and slept like babies. Parking is an extra per day charge (with unlimited in and out privileges) and was less than a block away and quite convenient as there is no street parking and driving around the old city is not ideal nor really necessary. I can't think of anything I'd want to change about Hôtel du Vieux-Québec and would recommend it to anyone.

Yelp
FINALLY BACK after the pandemic. This hotel seems to have only gotten better since our last stay. We've been here over the Christmas holiday and during the summer, and it's just a fantastic location in Old City, with truly a fantastic, helpful staff. The rooms are super-clean and offer all the amenities you could ever need, including a microwave, coffee maker, kitchen sink, and refrigerator (I believe in most rooms). Two large bottles of water are replenished each day. The shower and water pressure is fantastic. The breakfast basket on your door (complimentary if you book direct) is a great way to start the day. Why would you stay anywhere else?

Angela A.

Yelp
This is a lovely hotel right in the heart of Old Quebec, close to the action. We chose it based on the excellent reviews and were not disappointed. Will definitely stay here next time in QC.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS HOTEL! I honestly don't know where to begin my praises for this truly fabulous place. The management has struck the perfect balance here. It's cozy, well appointed (in all the right ways), unique (roof garden, bee keeping) and their location is ideal! The hotel and rooms are very well furnished and extremely clean. They have the best purified water served in the coolest bottles (that you can refill in the salon on the first floor. Speaking of the first floor salon, it is a lovely community space complete with a fantastic espresso/cappuccino machine. Now, the staff, they are the warmest most accommodating staff, I've encountered in a very long time. They all reflect a true pride for this lovely hotel. I can't wait to return!

Yelp
Great little boutique hotel in the heart of old town Quebec City. Friendly staff easily switched to English for us. Off season price was doable for our room with queen bed. All amenities were well done and we very much enjoyed the early morning arrival of a fun basket of breakfast goodies. Highly recommended.

Yelp
We had a lovely stay here! The staff was very helpful and friendly and the room was cozy and beautiful!

Yelp
We fell in love with this lovely boutique hotel almost immediately. We enjoyed everything about our stay here and even though we're just back, I miss being there already. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and thoughtful from the moment of our arrival. Our room was fabulous. It was bright, spacious and tastefully decorated. We had a very comfortable king-size bed. I'm very picky about my pillows and the quality and comfort of those provided here was very good. There room had a nice seating area with accoutrements provided for a cocktail or a glass of wine on an adjacent side table. We had one quite large room but the way it was laid out, it almost felt like two separate rooms. The closet was spacious and had plenty of good wooden hangers. I like to unpack my suitcase if I feel comfortable in the hotel. Here the dresser had nice deep drawers that I took full advantage of. There was a large but unobtrusive flat screen television against one wall. The only time we used this was late one night to catch a rerun of the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Everything was clean and in excellent working order. The shower pressure in the quite nice bathroom was strong. We appreciated that the room was entirely quiet. We heard no slamming doors, no sounds coming through the walls from other guests. This charming building is clearly solid and well-built. On the main floor of the hotel, just beyond the front desk, there is a nice clubby lounge in which there are plenty of sofas and chairs. Bookcases against the walls hold a variety of books, DVDs and board games for borrowing. There are two computers on desks. There is water, ice, coffee and always a basket of fruit for guests. Here too is a fireplace against one wall (some of the rooms have fireplaces as well) and a piano. I could see holing up in the lounge on a blustery winter day after a day of sightseeing. As it was we didn't spend much time in here but it was inviting nonetheless. Parking for the hotel is just up the block in an underground garage accessible with a parking pass. Parking was a reasonable $17.00 a day. While in Quebec City proper you don't need your car so it was good to know it was safely tucked away. This is an eco-friendly hotel and one of its positive attempts to be ecologically smart is the roof garden. On the day of our arrival we met up with one of the staff carrying an armload of vegetables that he told us he'd just picked from the roof garden and was bringing them to the adjacent hotel restaurant. One of the highlights of staying here is the charming way they serve you the complimentary continental breakfast. By 8:00 each morning, a picnic basket is hung on a special hook on the outside door of your room. In it, you'll find orange juice, croissants, fruit, yogurt and depending on the day, some other kind of bread, pastry or fresh breakfast sandwich. The croissants were positively decadent. Included are jams, jellies, butter and one day an amazingly good and locally made maple butter. There is a coffee machine in the room and the cream and milk are also brought to you fresh in the basket. There is a discreet and quiet refrigerator in the room perfect for saving any leftovers you might have from any of the fabulous places to eat in Quebec City. We kept a bottles of wine and champagne in the fridge for before dinner cocktails. Our room was so nice we loved having a pre-dinner drink there just so we could linger in it a bit longer. If you're planning to leave the hotel before the morning arrival of your breakfast basket, with notice the day before, the staff will pack it all up for you and have it ready for you at the hour you want it. The staff is bilingual but it's good to practice your French here since it's the primary language of the province. The staff was generous and forgiving with my less than stellar attempts. ;-)) We adored this place.

Stewart L.

Yelp
This was a great place to stay. In the old town and within walking distance of everything. The hotel was very reasonable priced. The breakfast baskets of croissants, fruit, cheese and juice hung on your door every morning was a great way to wake up. But the best part, the friendly staff. They were so helpful and spot on with their recommendations for what to see and where to eat. Highly recommend this Hotel.

Yelp
Fantastic location ! Friendly, helpful staff. Loved the lounge with great games and the best infused- water ever. Our room was cozy and large. Call directly and you get an adorable picnic basket on your door filled with breakfast items. Highly recommended

Yelp
Very centrally located with shops and restaurants right outside your door. Quiet at night. Super friendly & accommodating staff. Comfy beds. Perfect for my elementary school child, teenager and mother in law. Farm to table restaurant connected to the hotel and the hotel has its own vegetable garden on the rooftop. They make their own honey and use it throughout the restaurant dishes. Espresso coffee machine in a large public lounge for hotel guests to use. My teenager was able to do school work on their computers and I played board games with my younger son. Free DVD's to rent as well. I was extremely pleased with my stay here.

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel for four nights in August, 2019. We loved our room. It was quiet and very comfortable. They offer optional pillow styles. The breakfast delivered each morning to our room was delicious and delightful The staff was very accommodating and helpful. They offered him umbrellas and water containers to take with you for your days activities. We had one dinner at the restaurant next door and it was excellent The location is on a very active street; an excellent location

Yelp
The wife and I loved Hotel du Vieux. The accommodations and amenities provided were excellent and the hotel was situated in the middle of Old Quebec. The rooms are wonderful for a romantic stay. They are very cozy and if you get a room on the street side you'll have wonderful views of 18th century buildings along the cobble stone streets of Rue St Jean. The hotel provides you with firm, medium and soft pillows allowing you a comfy night sleep. If you reserve the room on their website you'll wake up to a free daily picnic basket hanging on the hook of your door with a continental breakfast packed inside. The breakfast has delicious gourmet pastries, preserves, fruits and juices. A lovely way to start your day before trekking up the hills of Old Quebec. The hotel is very Eco-friendly. They offer two large glass bottles of water to drink during your stay free of charge. The bottles of water are re-filled daily with filtered water. They also offer metal water bottles for you to take with you during your walk through the city. You can fill the bottles with ice cold lemon infused water or regular filtered water at the water/espresso/hot chocolate station. Very competitive price for a lovely boutique hotel that's close to everything!

Yelp
Although we did not get to our destination as we were turned away at the border because of Covid the staff were kind enough to reimburse us for one night of our stay. When we are able to travel to Canada we will make sure to stay at your hotel

Yelp
Could I love this hotel any more? Probably not! Let's start with a special 30% off rate that I managed to find when I went to their site. The place is great anyway but save me money and you have a special place in my heart. Add to that the free breakfast basket every morning with my favorite Petit Quebec cheese, croissants, yogurt, mmmm. It's only free when you book through their site! Walking in 15 years after my first trip to Quebec and finding the best concierge *ever* Pierrot still there was a treat. Then meeting Emily, Polly Ann and Vincent who also helped make our trip extra special. Love! Seriously, these people know what they are doing. Want the best poutine? Searching for the most amazing crepes? Just ask, they'll make sure you get just what you're looking for. Our floor (the fourth) was fully solar powered - awesome! They have wonderful bottles of water in the room that you can buy for your very own (and I did!). Two queen sized beds, extra comfy mattresses, down comforters! Free wifi (that worked!). Did I mention the breakfasts? Ooh la la! The parking garage is just seconds away if you decide to drive to the waterfall of I'le d'Orleans for a day trip. There wasn't much that hasn't been well thought out here but when I did mention one thing, it was taken very seriously. My my trip-mate mentioned that the croissants would be lovely warmed up, she was told a microwave was available no additional charge and when we came back to our room ... there it was! The hotel is located just about the middle of the city. It is on one of the main drags and convenient to everything. A quick walk up gets you to the funicular and a quick walk down gets you to the Petit Quarter. So go to Vieux Quebec, stay at L'Hotel du Vieux Quebec. Oh, and tell Pierrot I said "Hi!".

Yelp
Beautiful, quaint and staffed with amazing people! I wanted to take at least one of the staff everywhere with me he was such a helpful, happy and warm person! We arrived and saw a small sign where we can pull the car off the street to check-in and unload. When you enter a restaurant is to the right and Hotel is to the left. A small welcoming warm lobby with the check-in desk greets you along with hello's in french and english from the staff! We were staying 4 nights and the longer we stayed the better it became. After getting to our room with the quick but informative check -in we were delighted by a fantastic view of St Jean Street. Our beds were soft and cozy , the bathroom had a lovely, deep tub to soak away the troubles mainly from all the walking in the city - achy feet , it happens! We were only a few floors up but the view was just outstanding! Fresh bottles of water were complimentary with the room. We also had the breakfast included in our room so every morning we would be delivered a basket of morning goodies (ooh la la) to get us started and it was left on our door so we could enjoy it at our leisure. We were provided a map to the parking garage , off site and very clear directions on how to use the parking pass - parking fee around $15 a day just went right on the hotel bill. So the parking garage is about a block away! Very easy to navigate and in and out as much as I wanted. The lounge was simply perfect- every morning fresh fruits decorated the large farm like table. Ice cold flavored water , wonderful coffee and espresso! Comfy over sized couches and chairs , computer, large flat screen TV - in the evening fresh veggies are put out on the table ..popcorn if you want to watch a movie! It was a very nice gathering place or a beacon of shade and quiet when needed. I had visited the local farmers market just down the hill a bit and found a bunch of pretty pink peonies and grabbed them up,but once back in the hotel I had nothing to put them in ...so I took my question to the staff and how they say in french," voila!" My pretty pink flowers sat next to my bedside in a lovely glass vase the entire visit! When it was time to go home I brought them to the lobby for all to enjoy! No need to wonder if this is a good location, my friends it is! Every evening part of the street is closed to traffic and every wknd day as well. Live music and fun is happening everywhere! All the small things matter and I can't wait to come back to QC and stay here.

Yelp
This year, I decided to spend my birthday in Quebec city and see the carnaval. My g/f and I booked a room at the lovely Hotel du Vieux Quebec for it's prime location in the middle of the Old Quebec and the reasonable price on hotels.ca I was very impressed with this little hotel. The reception at the front desk was very warm and inviting and the rooms were really nice with amazingly comfortable beds. As other Yelpers have mentioned, the hotel provides a cute breakfast basket on a hook outside your door every morning so you can enjoy a little continental breakfast in bed everyday. On the night we arrived, we were a little tired and decided to check out the cozy looking living room we spotted by the elevators downstairs. They have a bunch of really comfy couches, a fire place and tons of board games. We ended up playing a cool nautical trivia game I had never seen before. The only problem we encountered was the lack of hot water for a couple of mornings. Upon checkout, they assured us that this was an issue with their boiler that was being addressed. They credited us $50 for the inconvenience without us having made any fuss about it, which I appreciated. Hopefully this was a one time issue and no one has to deal with cold morning showers...

Yelp
We did exhaustive research on hotels in Quebec City and ultimately went with Hotel du Vieux-Quebec because of its super-central location, fantastic online reviews, and price point. We immediately felt good about our choice when we were warmly greeted upon our arrival. Because the King Superior rooms were already sold out when we made our reservations, we settled on a Queen Superior room, which was well appointed and clean. Our particular room was compact and had a not-so-hot view of the backside of the neighboring hospital. After a teensy bit of initial disappointment, I got over myself and appreciated the attention to detail, the plethora of services (the front desk will check out free DVDs and make you popcorn, for pete's sake!), the comfy mattress, the hot water with great water pressure, and - my favorite part which reminded me of childhood trips to France - the delightful wicker basket delivered each morning, replete with pastries from Paillard, yogurt, fruit, cheese, and orange juice. The front desk staff could not be more friendly and accommodating. The parking is reasonably priced and less than a block away in a secured garage (do not bring an SUV, however, because it won't fit through the entrance). And, the Upper Town location makes everything easily walkable. I highly recommend Hotel du Vieux-Quebec if you're looking for a bed & breakfast-meets-hotel with a European vibe in the middle of the Old City.

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel four nights (24-27 Oct) and if I could give this hotel six stars I would. The front desk staff is very friendly and accommodating. Our room was spotless and had a wonderful shower. Although located on a busy street, it was very quiet. Also, a great location for restaurants, shops, etc. We ate breakfast every morning at Pattiere, a wonderful place for French pastry, only a 2 min walk away. If we return to Quebec City, we will stay here again!

Yelp
Great service, loved the morning breakfast basket, great location, rooms were clean and spacious, staff were helpful and stored suitcases for us. Definitely would stay again here!

Yelp
Such a nice hotel. My husband and I spent a our weeklong honeymoon here in the Quebec Room and we couldn't be happier. The service is amazing everyone is so so friendly and helpful. They bring us a little breakfast basket every morning that were wonderful. Location is great, right downtown a short walk to everything. The hotel is very green, they only use glass containers for the breakfast and they give you two glass water jugs in your room. The coffee in the room is surprisingly good in the room and they have a nice cappuccino machine in the lounge which is also good. There is always fruit in the lounge for snacking. Upon our arrival the staff let us know that there was some road construction happening during our stay and because the Quebec room is in the basement they were worried about noice during our stay so they blocked off another room for us for the whole week we were there if we wanted to switch at any point. The noise wasn't much at all but we were so appreciative that they blocked a second room for us just in case. Very impressive.

Yelp
Fabulous. Great location to old Quebec City. And to the neighborhoods. If you book online, you get the breakfast consisting of fresh croissants, orange juice, yogurt, cheese and fruit. There is a coffee machine in the lounge that pumps out cafe au laits all day long, along with a fruit bowl and ice water, with lemon. The staff is incredibly accommodating, with great knowledge of the area. Close to really good restaurants. If I could award 6 stars, I would

Yelp
From the moment my wife and I walked in the door to the moment we left, we could not have felt more welcomed! This was easily one of the best hotel experiences either of us have had. The staff was graciously accommodating. Upon check-in, we were given a map, which the staff thoroughly reviewed with us to make sure we knew the best places to visit. Sites, restaurants, and stores were reviewed for us, so we could make an educated decision on each of our stops. The room was incredible, the breakfast basket was a fantastic touch, and everything was within more than reasonable walking distance. Parking is so close to the hotel, as are so many stores, and restaurants. Being gluten free in the city was not an issue for me either. Plenty of options! After strolling the streets of Quebec each day during our stay, we went back to our room to watch a movie and popcorn was provided by the front desk! My wife and I are looking forward to our next visit already! We cannot wait to return to this perfect hotel.

Yelp
Fantastic hotel in the heart of the Old City. Free fresh croissants in the afternoon, free espresso / cappuccino / coffee 24/7. We had the smallest room in the hotel and it was great. Met some interesting folks in the lounge as well, and the hotel staff were happy to chat. We will definitely be back to this hotel.

Yelp
Pleasant hotel. Nicely sized room. In the old city, inside the wall. Check in was very easy, and the staff was very accommodating. Parking was about one block away, and the cost was not overwhelming. Would stay again without hesitation.

Yelp
For a weekend in Quebec this hotel was perfect. Here are the main reasons I liked it: - Central location in the heart of Vieux Quebec (Old Quebec). One might expect this to be more of a con due to the popularity of the area but at night Rue St Jean quiets down while everyone heads over to Grande Allee for the clubs. Furthermore, there are a lot of touristy things to do right around the hotel if you're in to those things - if not it is also located near the main bus route and a bus terminal (main bus is 800 or 801) - The hotel itself was quite nice. Our room was clean and large with a great view of Vieux Quebec. We also enjoyed our breakfasts in bed every morning - fresh(ish) pastries from a bakery down the street (we suspect they were from the night before since they were delivered around 7am and a bit on the day-old-side of texture) with jams, yogurts and juices. Although it wasn't the best it still saved us a meal everyday...which means a lot on our student budgets! -The price. For around $300 for 2 nights/3 days type weekend this was one of the cheapest hotels in the area which usually directly related with cleanliness but thankfully not here! Although I prefer to bunk at hostels for $20/night or less I was ok with spending the money this time for more quality. In summation, I would definitely recommend this hotel to my mother. It is safe, clean, and affordable.

Yelp
Had a great week at this lovely hotel in the old walled portion of Quebec City. We could step out the door an be just where we wanted to be in the midst of all the narrow alleyways and historic architecture. The highlight o the stay was the morning picnic basket breakfast that arrived on a hook on the door every morning. With juice, croissants and a few other goodies it is a great way to start the day. When we arrived they provided a map and highlighted a couple of free activities around town during our stay. They included a walking tour of the old city - fantastic! My advice is to take the tour first thing so that you have the inside information on where to eat and shop. We go free parking so we parked the car for a couple of days without worry and cost so that we could walk around and drink and eat to our hearts content.

Yelp
Almost don't want to tell people how nice this hotel is as I would like to keep it a secret! Quiet, cozy rooms! Coffee and water in the rooms and the salon, ecological toiletries, a "green roof" with beehives... friendly and knowledgeable personnel!

Yelp
Loved this Hotel! The rooms are spacious and there's an option for ordering breakfast in the morning - where they hang a basket on your door with a delicious breakfast: choice of croissants, fruit, yogurt, cheese and juice. They have a coffee / cappuccino / expresso machine in the dining area as well as a coffee machine in each room. And the front desk offers freshly popped popcorn for a snack in the evening. There's also a restaurant/bar on site. Stayed here for 2 nights in June of 2019. This hotel is in a great location! Walkable to many restaurants and cafes and to the historic Chateau Frontenac. And also close to Quartier Pettit Champlain, Place Royal and the beautiful Notre Dame Cathedral. Had a wonderful Birthday dinner at Le Sam Bistro with views of the St. Lawrence River and Dufferin Terrace! Also there's a beautiful wine and cheese 1608 bar on site as well. Highly recommend this hotel! I will be back again!

Yelp
Hotel is situated in the very middle of old Quebec. You definitely will find everything within walking distance. Food, shops, site seeing areas and attractions are footsteps away. Getting here was a little bit difficult at first, with all the one way streets in here, driving was a little confusing. Parking is a bit of an issue as well. There is an underground parking area which is across the street that makes it a little inconvenient. I guess with the limited space in old Quebec, there is not much that can be done. Many other hotels in the area share the same parking facility. The room we got was pretty small but, clean. I can live with it being small as long as its nice and clean. Price wise, $139+ tax and parking (can't seem to remember the cost). Which is about average for this area. Not the cheapest and definitely not expensive. Will i come back... there is really not much to do here. I guess it would be better in summer time. This hotel is not bad but just a bit boring here.

Yelp
Just the kind of hotel I love. Small, historical, well appointed, well located, well staffed, and reasonably priced. Pierrot is a perfect host!

Yelp
We did a lot of research before deciding on a hotel in Quebec. We wanted something not too expensive, a place that had an English speaking staff, a decent hotel restaurant, breakfast included, a bathtub (not just shower) and central location so we could walk most everywhere. We found it all here. I will admit their recycling, energy friendly, bees on the roof approach to the environment was a BIG seller for us, too. We arrived late because of bad weather and the young woman at the desk was waiting for us. She explained everything carefully in very good English. We could unload our luggage just feet from the front door. The parking was offsite but only a block away. It was a secure location with access cards. They provide you a photo of the entrance and a detailed explanation of how it all works. That was nice because there's nothing worse than getting lost when parking your car. It's not free but reasonable. We were just a few minutes away from the center square, the wall, several nice shops for souvenirs, the river front and Hotel Frontenac where we were having Sunday brunch. We took a taxi once because it got rainy and cold when we left brunch and didn't feel like dealing with wet clothes when we got to our next location. As for the hotel: Very very clean, a full bathtub in the room, the windows opened so we could view the street and hear the church bells, the breakfast hung on the door everyday was a wonderful treat with juice, pastries, yogurt, butter, maple spread - which we loved so much we bought some to bring back - and coffee makers in the room. We only stayed 2 nights on this trip but would absolutely stay here again when we come back and stay longer.

Yelp
I picked this hotel because other people on yelp and tripadvisor loved it, and I'm basically here to echo everything said. I visited Hotel de Vieux Quebec during a markedly un-busy time of year (November) and I'm sure that people thought I was crazy for choosing to vacation when there were no festivals going and snow and sleet were pelting me everytime I left the hotel. But why would I want to leave this wonderful hotel? I had a great superior single room that was incredibly comfortable, a downstairs lounge with music, fire and a machine producing very tasty and addictive espresso drinks, and just when you think there aren't any more reasons to stay indoors, you wake up in the morning and there's a basket with pastry, cheese, juice, yogurt and jam hanging on your door. Staff were wonderful. They even help me work through the immediate emergency of forgetting to bring my glasses with me. I couldn't get them replaced in time to see Vieux Quebec in full focus, but I did manage to order a new pair that is getting me a lot of compliments. A woman at the front desk had a pair from the same fantastic lunetterie (www.fanieleyewear.com). All of the staff at the hotel were wonderful and helpful. They aided me in negotiating my way through the old city and beyond and were always a pleasure. I never did make it down to the exercise room, but if I had decided that I wanted to work off my morning croissant, it was nice to know there were cardio machines downstairs. The hotel is located right in the middle of everything. Restaurants from high end to low end, boutiques also across the range (and le voila! my favourite department store; Simons!), plenty of historical things to see nearby, and steep cobblestone streets to make you feel less guilty about all that pastry and poutine you're eating. There's lots of interesting stuff outside the walled city and still within walking distance, so I recommend getting out and about. I want to live at Hotel du Vieux Quebec, but for now, I'll definitely be planning to return again.

Yelp
WOW! This hotel right in the middle of all the action in Quebec. It is incredibly modern, clean, and quiet! The staff could not have been any more gracious and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Quebec!!!

Yelp
Location, location, location. Very nice boutique hotel right in the heart of Old Quebec City. We stayed 3 nights and had a wonderful visit to this charming city. Walking distance to many fine restaurants and museums made this a great choice of hotel for us. The room was clean and well appointed. The breakfast basket delivered to the room each morning was a nice touch. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!!!

Yelp
Delightful, from the quiet to the endless espresso concoctions to the fireplace. Easy to see why they're #1 in TripAdvisor.

Yelp
What a wonderful hotel! It is in a perfect location for wandering around the old city. We thought the breakfast basket was such a nice way to start the day - it was really a lot of food! The room was very warm & dark so we found it almost too easy to sleep in. The staff were very friendly, and also very forgiving of our minimal French skills.

Yelp
We Stayed here one night and just loved this hotel. Pierrot and Frederic introduced the hotel and helped make our stay perfect. These guys went above and beyond anything we've experienced in our world travels. This is a charming hotel, because we booked our room direct we had a lovely breakfast basket delivered to our room. The location is perfect and close to everything that Quebec City has to offer. We can't wait until our next visit so we can stay here.
