Hotel du Vin Exeter (Exeter, Devon) 2 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A beautiful old Edwardian hospital in Exeter finds new life as a luxury hotel — and should this happen to touch off a mania for converting well-preserved institutions into stylish, contemporary lodgings, we’ll be there to cheer it on. Then again, even if it turns out to be a one-off, we’ll still be there to cheer it on; the Hotel du Vin winningly combines character, style, and a generous helping of good old-fashioned luxury behind its red-brick facade." - Tablet Hotels

We had booked the evening taster menu with our stay, Jake was an excellent host and was very engaging, his pairings of wine and drinks, with the different sections of the meal were excellent and wonderfully described, his passion and knowledge of the menu and the chosen beverages were obvious. Unfortunately we threw him a bit of a curve ball as one of us doesn’t drink alcohol, we had put it in the online booking notes but this didn’t make it through to that evening’s booking so Jake had to come up with non-alcoholic drinks for one of us that worked with the food - he absolutely nailed it - we both had a very enjoyable meal and evening. the hotel and room were very pleasant and a joy to find rooms where the widows can be opened to get fresh cool air in. Very nice to have a reserved parking space right outside the reception ready for us when we arrived.

Spent two days here for a company meeting. The conference facilities were 1st class. The food for meeting was very good with a few choices. Booking in was very quick and easy and also very helpful. The room that i was given was also very good with lots of nice extras, dressing gowns, slippers, coffee machine as well as the normal teas and coffees

We arrived at the Hotel du Vin to celebrate a new home and an anniversary. As soon as we arrived, we felt very welcome with Toby meeting us at the reception and taking us to our room. That evening, we were served by Sage who checked in with us during our meal and made sure we were happy throughout such as topping up drinks if needed. The food was delicious and served quickly! Our room was perfect with a surprise around every corner! The bed was very comfortable and we had everything we needed and more in the Bee Keeping Suite. The next day, we had a lovely breakfast followed by the duck in the evening. We were served by Jake this time and he made a very good recommendation with the wine, and was also polite and friendly. We had a drink in the bar afterwards and got chatting to Sage who was very interesting! Overall we can’t fault anything with our stay and it a perfect weekend away!

A group of 4 of us went to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday. We purchased a spa session which included a 2 course lunch in the bistro.|I must say that this was a great day and all of us thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were really friendly both in the spa and bistro and the service was great.|I must give a shout out to Jade who worked wonders on the tension in my back. Definitely recommend her!|Thank you Hotel du vin, you will definitely be seeing us again.

We used the spa facilities today as a treat for my daughter's 30th birthday. The service in both the spa and the restaurant was great. We really enjoyed our lunch and time flew too quickly, we will definitely be returning to enjoy being pampered again. Jade, who handled my spa treatments was wonderful, highly recommend her.

Just about a 4 star - The building and surrounding is perfect as it is within a converted eye hospital perfectly located for both the town and the quay. The rooms were amazing! We booked especially because it had a pool but it was closed for the full 36 hours we were there as they "couldn't get the chlorine levels safe" which disappointed about 90% of the guests who had booked especially for that reason! The staff were quite dismissive about this and even when we questioned it, the answer was "the pool is a bonus and we don't charge for it" which doesn't really help when you booked it on the back of the pool and you have a 9 year old with you that you've promised a swim after a longish drive there. The bar service was slow slow slow (I needed one after dealing with a 9 year year old not be able to swim;-) they serve after 3pm but my suggestion is to order drinks from the restaurant before as its quicker than the service when at the bar! Very painful!

We were down in Exeter attending our daughter's graduation and she'd booked a table her in advance, not to be disappointed on-the-day with not being to find anywhere decent to have a celebratory meal. The venue and meal didn't disappoint and we had a lovely time on a very special occasion. We had various starters and desserts but all decided to have the beef mains. The cut of meat was beautiful and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

Stayed for one night. Nice room with very comfortable bed at a very reasonable price. The pool was an added benefit and it does have a small inside bit to swim in with jacuzzi jets. Lovely breakfast. Worth booking the £20 parking before you arrive
