Hotel du Vin Henley (Oxfordshire, UK) Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"While the capital has been for obvious reasons the center of most of the innovation in English hospitality, the Hotel du Vin group has made a line for itself in bringing boutique style to towns outside the capital — towns like the well-off bedroom community of Henley-on Thames, some 35 miles to the west of central London, where picturesque Oxfordshire begins." - Tablet Hotels

Omg, the afternoon tea was amazing, we’ve had afternoon tea in loads of different hotels, including the ritz, the savoy and the shard but this is one of the best we’ve had. The food was top quality and the service was lovely. The hotel is having a refurbishment at the moment so we were offered our tea on the patio as it was a nice day and it was a lovely setting and quiet even though there were two weddings taking place that day. We live in Henley and I can’t believe we’ve never tried here before. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend. Well done hotel du vin

Booked a room via a booking website for £110. Arrived and was told £155 due to dog tax - small quiet cockapoo. Never mind let's have drink in the bar. Aaah no bar - it's a building site. Ok a bite to eat. Aaah dog not allowed in that area. Room basic and dated( not luxury as advertised). Overall very poor HOWEVER lady on reception charming and friendly - only plus point. Doggy had an upset stomach and was going to take him outside but realised I had paid £45 which I assume is in case of mess in the room so obviously wanted to get full value. Also lots of mud on carpets and quilt after morning walk so almost worth the £45 dog tax.|Much better options in the area.

Driving back home after a superb wedding of close friends at HDV. |Compelled to comment on the overall friendliness of the staff throughout our 2 night stay - from beginning to end such a lovely welcoming group of people!|Meals taken were delicious as were the delightful, tasty canapés during the wedding. |One of the most pleasant stays I have had at a UK hotel, for various reasons, but a special mention to the team is certainly due.

Had a champagne afternoon tea with my wife. Champagne was, we presume the House champagne but was excellent. The food was amazing. The setting and ambiance was perfect. More food than we could eat, and it was immediately offered to take the rest away, which we gladly did. There was a gliche in the service initially, in that our tray went to another table. As soon as it was realised we were offered a complimentary drink as recompense, again without us asking for it. Will recommend to friends and family if they are in the area. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Hotel du Vin is a truly lovely place to stay when visiting Henley-on-Thames. It is in a quaint historic building near the heart of City Center and a stone’s throw from River Thames. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Svetlana went above and beyond to ensure my stay went smoothly. I had a classic room which was clean, spacious and charming. The bed was ultra comfortable and rain shower made bathing a pleasure. The hotel is situated near numerous shops, restaurants and drinking establishments. Parking is a bit if a challenge, but manageable if one does not mind a bit of walking. I highly recommend Hotel du VIN and will stay there the next time I visit Henley.

We stayed here for one night just over a week ago. We were warmly greeted at reception and checked in smoothly. Our room was a refurbished one and was done very nicely. There were a couple of small tweaks that would have made the room even more comfortable. |We didn’t eat there but had drinks in the bar. Service was very good, professional and friendly.

The hotel is beautiful! From the moment we arrived we felt so welcome and it continued throughout our stay. ||||A special thank you to Sunny at reception! She was incredibly kind and helpful. She arranged an early check-in for us and helped us with parking (which can be a bit tight). Sunny gave us lots of great recommendations… In fact all the staff were absolutely brilliant.||||The rooms are gorgeous and the location is perfect! Right on the river and right in the town. The courtyard was a beautiful place to enjoy our mornings. ||||We will be staying again!

Yelp
Went there today for afternoon tea. The worst experience ever. As an non white woman going somewhere quite "fancy" as a gift from my girlfriend just to be racial abused by the customers and let down by the staff. Besides, the food was atrocious and not worth £30 EACH! Included : 1 tiny scone 1 tiny tea cake 1 split brown bread with smoked salmon (tasted off) 2 sandwiches (looked disgusting) 4 kinds of small taster cakes Tea and coffee was so weak it tasted like boiled water Waste of Money. Never going there again.

Yelp
If you ever visit Henley on Thames and are looking for a British countryside feel with modern amenities and excellent service, this is the hotel for you. From the moment we arrived, we received extremely accommodating service from the front desk. We indicated during online reservation that we have a baby under 2 years old and walked into our room to discover a crib/playpen with proper bedding. Room service runs until about 6am and our room included complimentary breakfast each morning. The hotel is a short skip from the river Thames, which can be seen from the street in front of the hotel. Bistro food is amazing. The experience is a little pricey but we felt that we got our monies worth. We would definitely stay here again on a future visit to Oxfordshire.

Yelp
This is one of my favourite hotels in the area! The location is great as you are walking distance to shops, parking can be a struggle sometime but there is off-street parking! If you ever stay in this hotel and want a really special treat I would recommend booking a RIver view suite. Each suite is named after luxury champagne and the river view suites are called Comtes de Champagne, Laurent Perrier and Ruinart . These are duplex rooms with King size beds with Egyptian cotton. Each having stunning open plan bathrooms and lounge area upstairs with French doors leading onto a heated balcony and outdoor bath with breathtaking views of the River Thames and Regatta lawns. The bathroom has another flat screen television and each bathroom has a open rolltop bath enough to share for two people and a monsoon walk in shower which there is ampul of complimentary toiletries. There is a double sink and a large mirror as well as a very large L shaped leather sofa. The amazing view outside can also be enjoyed in another roll top bath outside which is allows you privacy from other rooms or buildings but also you can enjoy the beauty of the stars in the sky at night! I go here every year and try to stay more than one night! It's a luxury treat but a very romantic weekend!

Yelp
What can I say about a hotel bistro? You're wrong because it is delicious with AMAZING service! First we started with fresh warm bread and butter... Unbelievable!! Then I had the sea bass with sautéed spinach and it was sooo yummy! The sea bass was perfectly cooked with fennel, garlic, and olives!! That is right...olives!!! Totally underused! I did not know what wine to get and the waiter helped me choice the perfect wine. I asked for a white, not too sweet and not too dry. A French Sauvignon Blanc that just made the meal. Love!

Yelp
This beautiful Hotel is a sympathetic conversion of the old Brakspears brewery, which lives on in the courtyard, stone floors and Georgian features. Our room was superb the bathroom was big enough for a football team, and this luxurious, bespoke bathroom theme continues throughout. The busy bistro has an impressive wine list, which makes choosing very difficult, and the menu is 'classic French'... betroot, salmon, game and chicken livers to name a few of the themes.

Yelp
It started so well .... Hotel du Vin is a lovely building with great ambiance and atmosphere. If you can afford the prices (you get where I'm going here) then pretty much anything you can think of is available from the bar. The walk-in humidor is also extremely well stocked. The restaurant used to be pretty good. A pleasing range of food, cooked beautifully and priced accordingly. Lately, however, the quality of food has plummeted. Expect your meal to have sat underneath a hot lamp for some time and expect it to either be something other than your original order or simply lacking the odd ingredient or two. Such is the state of affairs that they are now offering a kids eat free deal. It's such a shame to see a potentially superb restaurant descending to Berni Inn tactics.

Yelp
Before giving my review on the hotel, I must give a review on Henley on Thames. A fantastic and quiet place near London. Henley on Thames is more a countryside village. Going there is like feeling on holidays. I would advise to walk by the Thames where all the boats and yachts are lined up. A very nice area altogether. Now, Hotel du Vin. As the name suggests, this is French inspired and we should expect nice wine... bingo! The food is a modern mix of French and Oriental food, all perfectly tuned to make a unique dining experience. Not too sophisticated but cooked and prepare to perfection. As expected, they do have an extended wine list to match with your food. The service is outstanding. Two thumbs up for the interior design. A mix of country side and modern designs. If you go there in summer, I would advise to go and unwind in the back patio. As far as the rooms are concerned, they are very comfortable, large (at least for for the duplex rooms), and sound proof. Again, the attention to details of the interior design is fantastic. In a nutshell, if you want to escape from a stressful week, treat yourself with a weekend at the Hotel du Vin, you'll come back all relaxed and refreshed!

Yelp
Great location in Henley. Good bar, quality food and comfortable seated areas. Very pleasant courtyard which is especially nice in summer.

Yelp
We called to check on the reservation for dinner on a busy Saturday only to be told there was no reservation so we eventually found a pub miles away. Later we found the Hotel had a reservation and basically messed us up royally. After informing the Hotel I was asked to send the confirmation e mail to them, which I did. After a month or so I wondered why they had not the grace to write to apologise, so eventually I got the usual letter of apology and 'hope we would return'. What planet are they on? For a group which supposedly prides itself on service, it was a complete disgrace. Never again. They had a chance to correct themselves and failed.

Yelp
If your after a cheap evening; its not the place, the staff are very good, the service excellent, we had our wedding and reception at the hotel in April 09; everything was perfect including the food! and the reason for the kids eat free - Its called a rescission?
