Hotel Du Vin & Bistro York, a Design Boutique Hotel York, United Kingdom

"In the Mount area of York, this Hotel du Vin features elegant boutique rooms and a bistro-style restaurant. York’s city centre is only 0.5 miles from this 19th-century, Grade II listed building. With a flat-screen TV, DVD player, Egyptian linen and a minibar, each room at Hotel Du Vin & Bistro York is also uniquely styled. Sleek private bathrooms boast power showers, and all rooms have air conditioning. The Bistro restaurant serves a fine menu of modern European cuisine, made using local cheeses, seafood and meat from a family farm. The stylish bar has an extensive list of cocktails and fine wines. York Train Station is within half a mile, whilst stunning York Minster is 1 mile away. The Jorvik Viking Centre is 15 minutes’ walk, passing many restaurants and bars on the way." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

The hotel had lovely, traditional British interior and was clean and comfortable. I really appreciated having a bathtub. The breakfast restaurant was also beutiful and relaxing, with a nice variety of delicious options. The location was convenient, within walking distance from both the old town and the train station. The staff were kind and friendly—I had a wonderful stay!

Had a lovely 3 night stay at the Hotel Du Vin York in one of their deluxe rooms. The room itself was clean, spacious and well equipped with a kettle, nespresso machine, plenty of tea and coffee, a hairdryer and good quality shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion and hand soap in the bathroom. As part of their green credentials, this hotel offers guests the option to exchange their daily housekeeping visit for a £7.50 per person drinks voucher for each day of their stay. As we manage to make our own beds perfectly well at home and dont need clean towels every day, we took this offer. What we didnt realise however was that this meant we wouldn't even be provided with clean cups or tumblers. The housekeeper will only restock the tea and coffee. We did ask for cups when she visited once, but said she didnt have any. She then went out of her way to go and get us extra nespresso pods, which was much appreciated, but using the same cups for 3/4 days with only a rinse out in the bathroom sink wasnt great. For this reason we probably wouldnt give up the housekeeping visits again. It also felt particularly ungreen to have underfloor heating blasting out in the bathroom when the temperature was 30 degrees outside. Apart from this though our visit was great. The food in the restaurant was enjoyable and there was a good selection at breakfast. The staff were all so down to earth and friendly. Special mention to Antonella for her warm welcome each morning, and for the tips on things to do in York. Overall we would definitely stay again.

What a gorgeous dinner we enjoyed at Hotel du Vin York!|We stayed locally at another hotel, but had a short walk for a few drinks and found HDV.|We enjoyed tasty cocktails outside and was going to eat elsewhere as we had a dog, but then we met the amazing Will who set us up a table so we could eat which was fantastic!|The service was first class, fully looked after by Will! What a star this guy is!|Pink Champagne, a stunning red wine, silver tequila, dessert wine and port accompanied our delicious dinner! To start we had 12 tasty oysters – so good we had another 6! We were recommended to try the tequila with the oysters – what a taste sensation!|We then enjoyed chateaubriand, rump steak and pasta – all incredible! Desserts looked too good to miss so we had crème Brule and the hazelnut profiterole and cheese! It was all so tasty!|Thanks for a great meal, we will definitely stay next time and eat again! Just fantastic!

Wonderful little hotel. They really treated me well. My only criticisms of it were that the bar was very expensive (even for York standards), the ridiculous room names made it difficult to state what room you're in when ordering anything, and the bath was so tall that it made taking a shower a bit of a mountain climb. This is real nitpicking though. Other than that, the staff were incredible, the room delightful and the breakfast was delicious. I stay in York on business regularly and have tried a number of the top end hotels there, and this is my new favourite.

Stayed at this modern, yet charming heritage style hotel for York Raceday with work colleagues. It’s an absolutely fabulous hotel central and within walking distance to the station (15 mins) and central york. The hotel itself and rooms are beautifully appointed including the little touches one expects of a top of the range hotel. I had a spacious room (Henley) in the main hotel and on the ground floor (there is an annexe) although the bed wasn’t as comfortable as I expected. There are adequate spaces around the hotel to relax, both in and outdoor. The staff were charming and the breakfast menu above and beyond ( no average buffet breakfast here! It’s freshly cooked to order) I will and would be delighted to return. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Another lovely stay in the Penfold room. It's a lovely big room , high ceilings and beautiful green decor. At the back of the hotel so fairly quiet. Had a problem with the bathroom extractor. However, it was soon sorted but strangly ran all the time 24hrs and never shut off. The lovely young lady in reception sorted out anything we needed. (Don't know her name but looking to go to Bangor University ). We ate in the restaurant on our second night the food and service from Sara was lovely. |Love the breakfast. |Will definitely visit Penfold again when in that area|| |

We had a Wedding day here on 22/05/2025.|It was a fantastic day and the staff were brilliant, catered for our every need, nothing too much trouble. Adam and Scott were outstanding, absolutely brilliant. The day went smoothly and I would highly recommend if you want to have the best day and to have such a special memory that will stay with you forever. |It’s also a lovely venue to stay for short trips as well as events, just a short trip to the wonderful city of York.

Really beautiful hotel. We stayed here for just one night for our wedding anniversary - one of the nicest rooms we have ever stayed in. Really spacious, comfortable and clean as well as great décor. The en-suite bathroom too was magnificent, which seems a strange word to describe a bathroom, but it's the best one I can think of. Twin sinks, huge window to let in loads of light and fresh air, and the shower was hot and powerful and very tall! The staff were all very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel is in a great location, just 10 mins walk to get into the center of York. Parking was available at the back of the hotel for £15 per night, which we felt was reasonable. We also ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. Really delicious food, but quite pricey and portions were slightly on the small side (we had to order extra chips with the main course, despite both having starters too). As it was for a special occasion though it wasn't a big deal for us. Thanks for a lovely stay - I expect we will be returning :)
